Lakewood/Fort McPherson station

Fort McPherson was a U.S. Army military base located in Atlanta, Georgia, bordering the northern edge of the city of East Point, Georgia. It was the headquarters for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Southeast Region; the U.S. Army Forces Command; the U.S. Army Reserve Command; the U.S. Army Central. Situated on 487 acres (1.97 km2) and located four miles (6 km) southwest of the center of Atlanta, Fort McPherson has history as an army post dating back to 1867.

Colonial Hills is a neighborhood in the northernmost section of East Point, Georgia. It rests alongside of Langford Parkway (previously known as Lakewood Freeway.) Just to the north of Colonial Hills is Fort McPherson-(known as Fort Mac), which has been closed due to military downsizing. Colonial Hills consists of the following streets: Chambers Ave., Clermont Ave., Dauphine St., Elizabeth Ln., Hawthorne Way, Newnan Ave., St. Francis Ave., St. Joseph Ave., St. Michael Ave., McClelland Ave., McPherson Dr., & Womack Ave.

Sylvan Hills is a historic intown neighborhood in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, United States.Sylva, Latin for “forest”, describes the dense tree canopy that shades the streets and homes of Sylvan Hills.

Oakland City is a rail station in Atlanta, Georgia, serving the Red and Gold lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. Opened on December 15, 1984, it has one island platform between two tracks. Both sides of the station are accessed via a pedestrian underpass beneath adjacent roadways and, in the case of the east underpass, a freight railway. Though at-grade, the steep embankment on which this station is situated gives it the appearance of an elevated station. This station mainly serves the Oakland City, Sylvan Hills and Capitol View neighborhoods of Atlanta. Bus service is provided at this station to Barge Road Park & Ride, South Fulton Medical Center, Sylvan Hills, and Greenbriar Mall.

Russell High School was a high school in East Point, Georgia, United States that opened in 1924. Industrialist and philanthropist John J. Eagan donated the land for the school, provided the school was named after his uncle, the late William A. Russell a Confederate general. After Eagan's father died, Russell gave financial and spiritual support to three-month-old John Eagan and his mother (Russell's sister).

Tri-Cities High School is a public high school in East Point, Georgia, United States. It is a part of the Fulton County School System. The school opened in 1988 under the leadership of principal Dr. Herschel Robinson. It was originally formed by combining four schools: Woodland High School, Russell High School, College Park High School, and Hapeville High School. Tri-Cities serves sections of East Point and College Park, and all of Hapeville. The current principal is Ethel Lett.

The Jeremiah S. Gilbert House is a NRHP-listed property in the neighborhood of Perkerson, Atlanta. It is one of the city's oldest surviving structures.Jeremiah S. Gilbert was the original owner of the land which is now the Perkerson neighborhood.The Gilbert House is described as significant as the home of one of Atlanta's earliest families, a rare example of fieldstone, mortar, and wood construction, and as a rare existing example of an Atlanta farmhouse.After renovation in 1984, it was opened as a Cultural Arts Center operated by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs.The house is also designated as a City of Atlanta Landmark Site. Visitors can view original family furniture, photographs, and artifacts.

Crossroads Shopping Center, better known by its name in its heyday, Stewart-Lakewood Center, is an open-air shopping center on Metropolitan Parkway (formerly Stewart Avenue) at Langford Parkway (formerly Lakewood Freeway) in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood of southern Atlanta. It was built in 1962 by the same company and in the same style as Ansley Mall near Midtown Atlanta. It was considered a major regional retail center.Tenants at one time or another included J.C. Penney, Lerner's, Woolworth, Woolco, Warehouse Grocery, Otasco, Colonial Stores grocery (later a Big Star Market), Western Auto, Rhodes Furniture, W.T. Grant, Lee's Men's Shop, Dipper Dan's Ice Cream, Bell Brothers Shoes, the Stewart-Lakewood Fabric Center and a National Shirt Shop.Lubie Geter, one of the children murdered in the Atlanta murders of 1979–1981, was last seen at the Stewart-Lakewood Center.Today part of the original 40+ unit mall has been demolished. A handful of the remaining units are occupied by a dollar store, wig store, and others. In 2005 Atlanta newspaper Creative Loafing named it one of "five undiscovered redevelopment gems".The center was the filming location, representing for the Reseda, California strip mall in home to the Cobra Kai dojo in the hit 2018 Netflix series Cobra Kai, the spin-off of the original 1984 film, The Karate Kid.

Perkerson Park is a 50-acre (200,000 m2) park in the Capitol View/Sylvan Hills neighborhoods of Atlanta, Georgia with everything from a splash pad to an elaborate playground to recreational fields, all under the shady canopy of huge oak trees. Park is open 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.

Capitol View is a historic in-town southwest Atlanta neighborhood 2.5 miles from downtown Atlanta, Georgia that was named for its view of the Georgia State Capitol building. Its boundaries include Metropolitan Parkway to the east, Lee Street to the west, and the Beltline to the north. On the south, the border follows Arden Street, Deckner Avenue, and Perkerson Park. Capitol View is filled with a housing stock of 1915-1925 of craftsman bungalows as well as earlier Queen Anne houses that precede the planned development of the neighborhood. Several of the Queen Annes on Metropolitan Avenue were built by the Deckner family, for whom Decker Avenue is named. Many of the historic homes are rapidly being renovated as the neighborhood continues to revitalize and attract new residents.

The Perkerson neighborhood (formerly called Perkerson Park neighborhood) is located in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia in NPU-X (Neighborhood Planning Unit). The name change was made by request of residents/members of the Perkerson Civic Association (PCA) in order to keep people from confusing the neighborhood with Perkerson Park which is the large park (49 acres) that serves the area.

Venetian Hills is an official neighborhood in southwest Atlanta, in the U.S. state of Georgia. Its 2010 population was 3,790.It is bordered: on the north by Cascade Avenue/Road SW, Avon Avenue SW, and the Bush Mountain neighborhood on the north and east by Epworth St. and the Oakland City neighborhood on the south and east by Fort McPherson on the south by Campbellton Road and the neighborhoods of Pomona Park and Campbellton Road on the west by Centra Villa Drive SW and the Adams Park neighborhood
