Weymouth Street

Hallam Street is a road situated in the Parish of St Marylebone and London's West End. In administrative terms it lies within the City of Westminster's Marylebone High Street Ward as well as the Harley Street Conservation Area. Formerly named both Charlotte Street and Duke Street, it was renamed in the early 1900s after Henry Hallam (1777–1859), a noted historian who had been a local resident, and his son Arthur Henry Hallam (1811–1833), poet and the subject of Tennyson's elegy In Memoriam.

66 Portland Place is an office building in Marylebone in Central London, near the boundary with Fitzrovia. Located on the corner of Portland Place and Weymouth Street, it serves as the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects ("RIBA").

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a professional body for architects primarily in the United Kingdom, but also internationally, founded for the advancement of architecture under its royal charter granted in 1837, three supplemental charters and a new charter granted in 1971. Founded as the Institute of British Architects in London in 1834, the RIBA retains a central London headquarters at 66 Portland Place as well as a network of regional offices. Its members played a leading part in promotion of architectural education in the United Kingdom; the RIBA Library, also established in 1834, is one of the three largest architectural libraries in the world and the largest in Europe. The RIBA also played a prominent role in the development of UK architects' registration bodies. The institute administers some of the oldest architectural awards in the world, including RIBA President's Medals Students Award, the Royal Gold Medal, and the Stirling Prize. It also manages RIBA Competitions, organising architectural and other design-related competitions. The RIBA was historically a male-dominated body, first admitting women members in 1898, and appointing its first female president in 2009. Sometimes perceived as a London-centric organisation, it has also been accused of lacking transparency.

The Red Mansion Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in London, England. Founded by Nicolette Kwok in 1999, its aim is to promote cultural understanding between East and West through the medium of contemporary Chinese art.

The equestrian statue of George Stuart White is a Grade II listed outdoor bronze sculpture depicting Field Marshal Sir George Stuart White, an officer of the British Army, located in Portland Place, London, England. The sculptor was John Tweed and the statue was unveiled in 1922.An inscription on each side of the plinth reads: Field-Marshal Sir George Stuart White, V.C., G.C.B., O.M., G.C.S.I., G.C.M.G., G.C.I.E., G.C.V.O. Born 1835. Died, 1912. The statue appeared in an exterior shot of Portland Place from Alfred Hitchcock's 1947 American courtroom drama, The Paradine Case, which was set in England.

Portland Place is a street in the Marylebone district of central London. Named after the Third Duke of Portland, the unusually wide street is home to the BBC's headquarters Broadcasting House, the Chinese and Polish embassies, the Royal Institute of British Architects and numerous residential mansion blocks.

The Embassy of China in London is the diplomatic mission of China in the United Kingdom. Established in 1877 as the Chinese Legation, the London mission was China's first permanent overseas diplomatic mission. It has served as the diplomatic mission of the Manchu Qing Empire, Republic of China and (since 1950) the People's Republic of China. It was the location of the Qing Empire's detention of Sun Yat-sen, an important episode in the Chinese revolution of 1911. It remains today the focal point for events relating to China held in the United Kingdom, including celebrations in 2012 to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and the People's Republic of China.Most applications by UK citizens for visas to China are not handled by the embassy, however, but are instead processed by the China Visa Applications Centre, also located in London. There is a constant police presence outside the embassy. China also maintains several other buildings in London: an Education Section at 50 Portland Place, a Defence Section at 25 Lyndhurst Road, Hampstead, a Commercial Section at 16 Lancaster Gate, Paddington, a Cultural Section at 11 West Heath Road, Hampstead and a Science & Technology Section at 10 Greville Place, Maida Vale. In addition, there are Chinese consulates-general in Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast.The embassy has in recent years been the site of protests against actions of the Chinese government, including protests against the imprisonment of artist Ai Weiwei, and in favour of Tibetan independence. There has been a Falun Gong protester sitting opposite the embassy for many years; this is referenced in the novel Saturday by Ian McEwan. Despite 2013 rumours that the embassy was to move from Portland Place to a new development in Nine Elms, in 2018 the Chinese government purchased Royal Mint Court with plans to develop the site for a new embassy building.Liu Xiaoming served as the Ambassador of China to the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2021, under Chinese leaders Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping. He retired as ambassador in January 2021 and was replaced by Zheng Zeguang.

EIFA International School, formerly known as L'Ecole Internationale Franco-Anglaise, is an English-French international co-educational nursery, junior and senior independent day school, located in Marylebone, London. EIFA is a school for children aged 24 months to 18 years old, from Early childhood to Key Stage 5. Its curriculum is accredited by the Mission Laïque Française and the French National Ministry of Education and it is overseen by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. EIFA is inspected by OFSTED and the French Inspecteur des Ecoles du Ministère de l’Education Nationale. EIFA prepares its pupils for the IGCSE, the French Brevet (DNB) and the International Baccalaurate® (IB) Exams. EIFA has two locations situated in Central London, catering for local and international families. There is one school building on Portland Place, London and one on Duchess Street, London, all located in Marylebone.

The Kenyan High Commissioner in London is the official representative of the government in Nairobi to the government of the United Kingdom.

The Kenya High Commission in London was established in 1963 to pursue Kenya's national interest in the United Kingdom. The diplomatic mission in London is also accredited to the International Maritime Organization, and the Commonwealth of Nations. Kenya and the UK enjoy cordial relations, and the mission's mandate is to forge closer relations between the people of Kenya and the people of United Kingdom in pursuit of deeper bilateral and multilateral cooperation in trade and investments, culture, science and technology as well as other fields for mutual benefit. The High Commission is housed in one of a group of Grade II* listed buildings in Portland Place.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London (Polish: Ambasada Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej w Londynie) is the diplomatic mission of Poland in the United Kingdom. It is located on Portland Place next to the High Commission of Kenya building. It forms part of a group of Grade II* listed buildings in Portland Place.

The Central Synagogue is based between Hallam Street and Great Portland Street in London. The current building was constructed in 1958, after the original synagogue was destroyed during the London Blitz on 10 May 1941.
