Hoevelaken

Hoevelaken is a railway station in the municipality of Amersfoort (province of Utrecht) near Hoevelaken, the Netherlands. The station lies on the Oosterspoorweg, but is only served by Connexxion trains from the Valleilijn and opened on 9 December 2012. Previously, Hoevelaken had a station on the Utrecht - Zwolle railway line from 1905 to 1938.

Nijkerkerveen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Nijkerk, and lies about 6 km east of Amersfoort. It was first mentioned in 1807 as Nieuwkerker Vheen, and means "bog near Nijkerk". In 1840, it was home to 1,197 people. In 1908, the first church was built.

Stoutenburg is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Leusden, and lies about 4 km (2 mi) east of Amersfoort. Since 1998, a part of the village is a neighbourhood in Amersfoort.

Asschat is a hamlet in the municipality Leusden, in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The hamlet is separated from the village of Leusden in the west by the Valleikanaal canal, and it borders the hamlet Snorrenhoef in the east. The name Asschat (1696) derives from af-schede, afscheiding: partition, indicating an old border.Asschat is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Leusden. It used to have place name signs, however they have been removed. In 1840, Asschat was home to 172 people. At the outbreak of World War II, it was the scene of heavy fighting. All the farms were set on fire to slow the German advance. The animals were set free, but some returned to their farm. Nowadays, it consists of about 20 houses.The family Scholten van Aschat is named after the hamlet.

Holkerveen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Nijkerk and lies about six kilometers northeast of Amersfoort. It was first mentioned in 1994 as Holkerveen, and means bog near Holk. The hamlet started in the 19th century as a peat colony. The postal authorities have placed it under Nijkerkerveen.

Zwartebroek is a village in the municipality of Barneveld in the Dutch province of Gelderland.The village is situated on the Veluwe. It lies north of Terschuur and east of Hoevelaken. Like its neighbour Nijkerkerveen, Zwartebroek was founded as a result of the peat extraction in the area.In 1840, it was home to 596 people. In 1850, a church was built in the village.

Amersfoort Vathorst is a railway station on the Utrecht–Kampen railway between Amersfoort and Zwolle. It is located in north Amersfoort, Netherlands. The station is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). The station opened 28 May 2006. The station has 3 tracks, 1 of which is for terminating trains from the Amersfoort direction. It is located in the area of the Vathorst and Hooglanderveen estates, which are still being built up.

Achterveld is a village in the central Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Leusden, Utrecht and is located about 8 km east of Amersfoort. A small part of the village is located in Barneveld.The village is a Catholic enclave in a Protestant region. It has a neo-romanesque church. In 2001, the village of Achterveld had 1616 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.50 km2, and contained 651 residences. The statistical area "Achterveld", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2570.On 28 to 30 April 1945, Achterveld was the scene of high-ranking talks now known as 'The Achterveld Conference' between the Allied command (among others, General Foulkes of Canada, and General Bedell Smith of the United States), Sir Francis de Guingand of the United Kingdom, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, Ivan Susloparov of the Soviet Union and the occupying German government of the Netherlands, headed by 'Reichskomissar' Arthur Seyss-Inquart, and his aides. They discussed urgent food-help for the starving cities in the west of Holland, which Seyss-Inquart allowed, and which started the day after, 29 April, by plane from England, code-named Operation Manna. The Allies tried to start negotiations about an unconditional German surrender. Seyss-Inquart did not want to comply there and then, although a general cease-fire was convened. The Germans ceased their resistance only on 5 May following, in Wageningen.

Hooglanderveen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɦoːxlɑndərˈveːn]) is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Amersfoort, and lies about 4 km northeast of Amersfoort. It is notable for the presence of a large Catholic church. Formerly, the village of Hooglanderveen was located outside of the city limits of Amersfoort, but the new residential areas of Nieuwland and Vathorst now mean that Hooglanderveen is surrounded by the city from three sides.It was first mentioned in 1899 as Hooglanderveen, and means moorland of Hoogland. In 1918, a Catholic church was built in Hooglanderveen.

Slichtenhorst is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Nijkerk, and lies about 8 km east of Amersfoort.It was first mentioned in 1434 as Slichterhorst, and means "flat height with growth". The postal authorities have placed it under Nijkerk. The land around Slichtenhorst used to be owned by the Abdinckhof monastery in Paderborn. In 1803, during the French occupation, the land was confiscated by the State and sold to Dutch farmers. In 1840, Slichtenhorst was home to 423 people.

Leusden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈløːzdə(n)] (listen)) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is located about 3 kilometres southeast of Amersfoort. The western part of the municipality lies on the slopes of the Utrecht Hill Ridge and is largely covered by forest and heathlands. The eastern parts lie in the Gelderse Vallei and are mostly agricultural. Former Amersfoort concentration camp lies just within the northern municipal border with Amersfoort.
