Big Fossil Creek is a stream in Tarrant County, in the U.S. state of Texas.Big Fossil Creek was so named on account of the fossils found there by an early settler. The area of North Fort Worth near Big Fossil Creek is occupied indigenous land where Tawakoni, Wichita, Kiikaapoi, Jumanos, and Nʉmʉnʉʉ would overlap/intersect.The creek's headwaters are located in far northwest Fort Worth near Avondale and Route 287. It then flows southeast through Haltom City, North Richland Hills, and Richland Hills before converging with the West Fork of the Trinity River.

Hicks Field (Camp Taliaferro Field #1) is a former World War I military airfield, located 5.6 miles (9.0 km) North-northwest of Saginaw, Texas. It operated as a training field for the Air Service, United States Army between 1917 until 1920. It was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entry into World War I in April 1917.After the United States' entry into World War I in April 1917, General John J. Pershing invited the British Royal Flying Corps to establish training fields in Texas for the training of American and Canadians volunteers because of its mild weather. After looking at sites in Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, Wichita Falls and Midland, three sites were established in 1917 in the Fort Worth vicinity (known as the "Flying Triangle."), those being Hicks Field (#1), Barron Field (#2), and Benbrook Field (#3). Canadians named the training complex Camp Taliaferro after Walter Taliaferro, a US aviator who had been killed in an accident. Camp Taliaferro was headquartered under the direction of the Air Service, United States Army, which had an administration center near what is now the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. After the closing of Hicks Field, there was a new airport opened called "Hicks Airfield".

Evergreen International Airlines Flight 17 (4U17/EIA17) was a cargo flight operated by Evergreen International Airlines and flown by a McDonnell Douglas DC-9. On March 18, 1989, the flight's planned route was scheduled to take it from Kelly Air Force Base (outside San Antonio) to Tinker Air Force Base (outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), with a stop at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. The two pilots were the only occupants on board. Immediately after takeoff from Carswell, the aircraft's main cargo door opened, the crew lost control of the aircraft and it subsequently crashed while attempting an emergency landing, killing both pilots.

The North Texas Intermediate Sanction Facility (NTISF (GEO Group acronym) or XL (TDCJ acronym)) was a privately operated prison facility located in northern Fort Worth, Texas. It was operated by the GEO Group on behalf of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The facility was on the east side of Blue Mound Road, about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Interstate 820 and north of Downtown Fort Worth.The GEO Group was awarded the contract to operate the center on August 16, 1991. The center opened in August 1991. The facility housed short term parole violators.The facility, with capacity to house 432 prisoners, had about 100 employees. Prisoners typically stayed for 60 to 100 days. The longest incarceration was for six months. In 2011 GEO stated that it wanted to continue to operate the facility. In 2011 the state of Texas decided not to renew its contract with the facility.
