Ursem is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) east of Alkmaar and 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Amsterdam and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west from Hoorn. A part of the village is located in the municipality of Alkmaar.

Obdam is a railway station in Obdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1898, on the Hoorn - Heerhugowaard line. There are two tracks at this station, creating a passing loop on the otherwise single-track railway.

Berkmeer is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 5 km east of Heerhugowaard. The hamlet was first mentioned around 1631 as De Berck meer, and refers to the lake which was poldered in 1636. The name means "birch lake". Berkmeer does not have place name signs. On 28 January 1256, William II of Holland fell through the ice at Berkmeer and was killed by the locals. Berkmeer was home to 141 people in 1840.The polder mill Berkmeermolen was built around 1608. In 1877, a pumping station was installed next to the wind mill and it was decommissioned in 1925. In 1941, it returned to active service and operated until 1990. The wind mill nowadays functions on a voluntary basis.

Grootschermer is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. Since January 1, 2015 it has been a part of the municipality of Alkmaar, and lies about 12 km southeast of the city centre of Alkmaar. The village was first mentioned in the first half of the 11th century as Skirmere, and means "big white/clear lake". Grootschermer developed in the 13th century when a dike was constructed around the Eilandspolder. It was partially a peat excavation settlement. Until 1811, it consists of two linear settlements.The Dutch Reformed church is aisleless church with wooden tower which dates from 1762. It was restored between 1978 and 1980. The former town hall is a stepped gable building in mannerist style from 1639. Between 1938 and 1939, the former court house from Noordschermer was added to the back of the building.Grootschermer was home to 415 people in 1840. It used to be the capital of Zuid- en Noord-Schermer, but was merged into Schermer in 1970. In 2015, it became part of the municipality of Alkmaar.

Heerhugowaard (Dutch: [ˌɦeːrɦyɣoːˈʋaːrt] ; West Frisian Dutch: Heerhugoweard, Heregeweard or De Weard) is a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West Friesland. Heerhugowaard was previously a municipality, which merged with the former municipality of Langedijk into the new municipality of Dijk en Waard on 1 January 2022.

Dijk en Waard (West Frisian Dutch: Doik en Weard/Weerd or Dìk en Weard/Weerd) is a municipality in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia, the Netherlands, formed from the merger of Heerhugowaard and Langedijk. The municipality came into existence on 1 January 2022.

North Holland (Dutch: Noord-Holland, pronounced [ˌnoːrt ˈɦɔlɑnt] ) is a province of the Netherlands in the northwestern part of the country. In 1840, the province of Holland was split into the two provinces of North Holland and South Holland. In 1855, the Haarlemmermeer was drained and turned into land. The provincial capital is Haarlem (pop. 161,265). The province's largest city and also the largest city in the Netherlands is the Dutch capital Amsterdam, with a population of 862,965 as of November 2019. The King's Commissioner of North Holland is Arthur van Dijk, who has been serving since 2019. There are 45 municipalities and three (including parts of) water boards in the province. The busiest airport in the Netherlands and Europe's third-busiest airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, is in North Holland.
