Dunmore, New South Wales

Dunmore railway station is a heritage-listed former railway station that was located on the South Coast railway line in Dunmore, City of Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia. The station served the southern Wollongong suburb of Dunmore and indirectly Shellharbour and opened on 9 November 1887. The weatherboard station on Platform 2 dates from 1887. It is also known as the Shellharbour Railway Station Group, Shellharbour railway station and Dunmore Railway Station. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.As part of the electrification of the line to Kiama in 2001, the existing crossing loop was extended north and received a platform, albeit built out of scaffolding materials with most trains continuing to use the original platform. The loop also provides access to Boral's Dunmore Quarry. There was previously a level crossing immediately south of the station. This was closed in the late-2000s as part of improvement works to the adjacent Princes Highway.

Minnamurra is a village in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia, in the Municipality of Kiama. It has a station (opened 1891) on City Rail South Coast line. The Minnamurra River flows into the ocean at Minnamurra. There is a sandy beach and a sand spit at the river mouth. The name Minnamurra means "plenty of fish" in the local Aboriginal dialect. Aboriginal people of the Dharawal language group are the original inhabitants and traditional custodians of the area now known as Minnamurra and its surroundings.Within a two-hour drive south of Sydney, the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre is located just 15 km west of Kiama on the NSW South Coast (Tourist Drive '9'). The centre offers visitors an opportunity to experience a rare rainforest remnant which is representative of the once extensive rainforests of the Illawarra region. The sandstone canyon in which the centre is located enables visitors to experience the various types of rainforest and examine the diversity of ferns species. Visitors can see first hand the fauna of the area such as lyrebirds, Australian Water Dragons and a host of bird species which make Minnamurra and Australia their home. The centre also provides a café and a barbecue/picnic area. The visitor centre has a retail shop where visitors can select from a wide range of Australian made products, environmental publications, and souvenirs as a reminder of their visit to Minnamurra Rainforest. Minnamurra Public School is the local school for the Minnamurra, Kiama Downs and Gainsborough area. Minnamurra Rainforest is a forest with much wildlife and many plants. This rainforest has produced over the years and is becoming a tourist attraction. It is located 15 km west of Kiama.

Minnamurra railway station is a single-platform intercity train station located in Minnamurra, New South Wales, Australia, on the South Coast railway line. The station serves NSW TrainLink trains traveling south to Kiama and north to Wollongong and Sydney.While the railway line through Minnamurra opened in 1887, the station didn't open until four years later. In 1943, it moved to its present location. The station has no platform building and is not staffed. Electric multiple unit trains began to service the station from November 2001.Despite some interest from local politicians, a perennial proposal to close Minnamurra and Bombo stations in favour of a new stop in the centre of Kiama Downs has not progressed.

Jones Beach, also known as Boyds Beach, is a beach on the south-eastern coast of Australia, facing the Tasman Sea. The beach is east of the settlement of Kiama Downs and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south by east of the settlement of Minnamurra in the Illawarra and South Coast regions of New South Wales.

Kiama Downs is a suburb of the town Kiama in the Illawarra region south of Sydney, Australia. Renowned for its picturesque beaches and seaside views, it is about 4 km (2 mi) north of Kiama and is bordered by the Minnamurra River to the northwest and Jones Beach to the east. There is a bakery, cafe, pharmacy, supermarket, take-away store, and general practice on Johnson Street. The western part of the suburb, west of Riverside Drive, is informally known as Gainsborough. Kiama Downs does not have a school or a railway station. The nearest public primary school is Minnamurra Public School and the nearest public high school is Kiama High School. The nearest railway stations are Minnamurra and Bombo. The biggest beach is Jones Beach, about one kilometre long, between Minnamurra Point and a headland 30 metres high, of the southern Cathedral Rocks Australian skateboarder Kieran Woolley is from Kiama Downs.

Shellharbour Anglican College is a co-educational Anglican school operated by the Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation. It opened in 2004 and accommodates pupils from Preschool to Year 12. The college operates in new, mostly permanent buildings in a semi-rural setting off Shellharbour Road, Dunmore. The school is located in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia. Shellharbour Anglican College currently has over 850 students.

Hawkesbury Packet was a sloop constructed for Solomon Wiseman that helped him 'rise' from being just a convict to a wealthy colonial landholder in Australia. Constructed in 1811, Hawkesbury Packet was a 21-ton coastal trader. Prior to its final wrecking in 1817 it was blown ashore in 1816. On 24 May 1816 it sailed from Sydney to Newcastle but was hit by a gale and was forced into Port Stephens on 20 June 1816. Unable to exit the port because of contrary winds and with supplies nearly exhausted, two crew, George Yates and Nicholas Thompson chose to walk to Newcastle. They took an Aboriginal guide with them who took them to a tribe who stole all their clothes. Thompson died shortly after from exposure, hunger and exhaustion and Yates managed to make Newcastle by crawling the last three miles. The Commandant in Newcastle ordered provisions to be sent to Port Stephens and when they arrived they found that the ship had been driven ashore. It was eventually refloated and returned to Sydney around 15 August 1816.On 14 August 1817 the ship sailed for the Shoalhaven, under the command of T. Walker, to pick up a load of cedar. However, on an unknown date in August the ship ran aground at Minnamurra near Kiama and was totally wrecked.

The station is served by NSW TrainLink South Coast Line trains traveling south to Kiama and north to Wollongong and Sydney. Premier Illawarra operates a connecting bus service from the station to Shellharbour.

Bombo is a suburb of the Municipality of Kiama, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north of Kiama.

Flinders is a southern suburb of Shellharbour, located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Flinders is located approximately 111 kilometres south-southwest of New South Wales' capital city of Sydney. Flinders is close to a number of beaches and to and over 60 hectares of green open spaces including bush reserves, waterways and landscaped parks. Flinders adjoins neighbouring suburbs of Shellharbour, Shell Cove, Blackbutt and Shell Heights. The area is served by the Shellharbour Junction railway station which replaced the previous Dunmore railway station on 22 November 2014 . It was initially intended to call the new station Flinders. Premier Illawarra operates one bus route between Flinders and the railway station, namely route 52 to Shellharbour Junction railway station.
