The First Congregational Church of Clearwater (also known as Clearwater Gospel Tabernacle) is a historic church building in Clearwater, Minnesota, United States, built in 1861. It was listed on the National Register in 1979 for having local significance in the themes of architecture and exploration/settlement. It was nominated for its Greek Revival architecture, association with the area's New England settlers, and connection to the "Indian Scares" of 1862 and 1863. After the Dakota War of 1862 and the murder of a Wright County family a year later, area settlers feared further Native American attacks, prompting a third of the Euro-American population to move away permanently. In Clearwater the remaining residents selected their largest and most defensibly sited building—the church—as a potential refuge. It was outfitted with a stockade and a cache of provisions until the passage of several months proved the settlers' fears unwarranted.

The Clearwater River is a 43.4-mile-long (69.8 km) tributary of the Mississippi River in central Minnesota, United States. It rises in southern Stearns County and flows south into Meeker County, passing the town of Watkins. It turns east and enters a chain of lakes, eventually becoming the border between Stearns County and Wright County, passing the town of Fairhaven and entering Clearwater Lake. Upon leaving the lake, the river flows northeast, joining the Mississippi River at Clearwater.

It was nominated for its association with the fraternal organizations of Clearwater and many other rural Wright County communities that, in the words of historian John J. Hackett, "provided leadership, direction, and contributions to the county's political, educational, patriotic, and social life."

St. Mary Help of Christians Church is a historic Roman Catholic church building in St. Augusta, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint Cloud. The church was constructed in 1873 in a rural community settled by German immigrants. An 1890 rectory stands southeast of the church. Both buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for their state-level significance in the themes of architecture, exploration/settlement, and religion. The property was nominated for reflecting the settlement of rural Stearns County by Catholic immigrant groups clustered in small, ethnic hamlets dominated by a central church.
