Dunbar–Southlands

Lord Byng Secondary School is a public secondary school located in the West Point Grey neighbourhood on the west side of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The school opened in 1925 and was named in honour of The Lord Byng of Vimy, a hero of Vimy Ridge as well as the Gallipoli Campaign, who was largely responsible for the incorporation of tanks on a large scale at the Battle of Cambrai in 1917. At the time the school opened, Lord Byng was the Governor General of Canada. The school is widely renowned in the Greater Vancouver region for its selective Byng Arts mini-school program, as well as for its varsity sports programs and wide assortment of Advanced Placement and Enriched courses. The school was expanded and upgraded in 2003 with a library and gymnasium, as well as studios and classrooms. In the 2005–2006 school year, Byng Arts Theatre Company and the school gained national attention and respect for staging the play The Laramie Project after the Surrey School Board banned the play.

Byng Arts Mini School is a School District 39 Vancouver Mini School program and is located at Lord Byng Secondary School in West Point Grey in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Byng Arts Mini School, established in 1999, is for above average students whose energies and passions are dedicated to the Fine Arts. Successful applicants will be curious and self-motivated, with a demonstrated record of strong academic achievement. As a school-within-a-school, Byng Arts, has all the benefits of a large high-school, while also maintaining a stong sense of community. Byng Arts students specialize in one of the following areas: Band, Choir, Drama, Media Arts, Strings, or Visual Arts (further opportunities are available in Literary Arts in Grade 11 and 12), and attend several of their academic classes (including English and Social Studies)together as a cohort of motivated learners. In addition to an enriched curriculum, all students in Byng Arts participate in events that feature community artists, musicians and performers, thereby strengthening the collaboration between Byng and the professional arts community.

Arbutus Ridge is an affluent residential neighbourhood in Vancouver's West Side. It is bordered by 16th Avenue in the north, 41st Avenue in the south, Mackenzie Street in the west, and East Boulevard in the east. The neighbourhood is characterized by larger than average lot sizes, with stately homes on tree-lined streets. One of the catalysts for growth in the neighbourhood was the existence of the Vancouver-Steveston Interurban route of the British Columbia Electric Railway, which ran between 1905 and 1958. The route once followed by the interurban is now part of the Arbutus Greenway.

St. George's School is an independent boarding and day university-preparatory school for boys in the Dunbar area of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Dunbar Loop is a major transit exchange located in the Dunbar–Southlands neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It opened on May 22, 1950, and is the westernmost exchange in the City of Vancouver.Dunbar Loop can accommodate both diesel and trolley buses of various lengths, including articulated buses. It is part of the TransLink system and also acts as a power station for trolleys.

West Point Grey is a neighbourhood in the northwest of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Point Grey and is bordered by 16th Avenue to the south, Alma Street to the east, English Bay to the north, and Blanca Street to the west. Notable beaches within the West Point Grey boundary include Spanish Banks, Locarno and Jericho. Immediately to the south is Pacific Spirit Regional Park and to the east is Kitsilano. The main commercial strip with shops and restaurants is along West 10th Avenue between Tolmie Street and Discovery Street. North of West 4th Avenue, the area slopes steeply downhill where it meets English Bay at Locarno Beach and the Spanish Banks.

Vancouver Quadra is a federal electoral district in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia, Canada. It has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1949. The constituency bears the name of the Spanish explorer who surveyed the area in 1775, Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra. Since 2007, the riding has been represented by Liberal MP Joyce Murray, who has served in the 29th ministry under Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau. Within the boundaries of this riding are the University of British Columbia and the western portions of the affluent West Side of Vancouver. Voters within Vancouver Quadra have tended to elect centrist candidates, which is an exception to the province as a whole where politics has tended to be more polarized. Though the Liberals have held the seat since 1984, MPs tend to be on the right wing of the party. For example, the current MP, Joyce Murray, was previously a cabinet minister in the centre-right British Columbia Liberal Party, which is unaffiliated with the federal Liberal party and attracts the vast majority of voters who vote for the Conservative Party of Canada in federal elections.

Greektown in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is an area in the Kitsilano neighborhood that was historically an enclave of Greek immigrants and their descendants. The term is an informal one, and Greektown's borders are not strictly defined; however, West Broadway around Trutch Street is generally considered the neighbourhood's heart, while Blenheim St to the west and MacDonald St to the east are approximately its outer limits. Vancouverites of Greek descent, who live in Kitsilano, nostalgically also call the area Ουέστ Μπροντουέι (literally "West Broadway").This Greek identity has waned considerably since the area first became a community of exiles during the dictatorship in Greece of the 1960s and early 1970s, and the primary markers of Greektown are St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral located at the intersection of Arbutus Street and Valley Drive, the local Athens Social Club, a Greek supermarket, and a higher-than-average concentration of Greek restaurants. There is also a Greek Senior Citizen Society. St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral been noted for its traditional Byzantine Icons. St. George's Hellenic Community of Vancouver (attached to the cathedral with the same patron saint), holds every year a Greek Food Festival from October 20 to October 22. The Hellenic Cultural Festival takes place every June in Kitsilano. The highlight is Greek Day, when Broadway is closed to vehicle traffic between MacDonald and Blenheim for free, family-oriented festivities. The festival is part of an ongoing effort to restore the Greek identity of Greektown.

West Point Grey Academy is an independent, co-educational, day school founded in 1996. Located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It delivers the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum from Junior-Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Hastings Mill Park is located on the waterfront in the West Point Grey neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and has recently received an upgrade from a joint partnership between the Vancouver Park Board and local landscape architects at PWL Partnership. The renewed playground was built to engage a wider age range of children and to bring historical significance to the on-site Hastings Mill Museum which showcases Vancouver's logging history.

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF), founded in 1978, is an outdoor multistage music festival, located at Jericho Beach Park on the west side of Vancouver, British Columbia. It takes place annually, on the third weekend of July. The festival has attracted artists from across the world, including Adam Cohen, Ani Difranco, Utah Phillips, Ricky Pinball, Tuvan Throat singers, Sarah Harmer, Veda Hille, Feist, K'naan, and Ferron, among many others.

Jericho Beach, known originally as iy'a'l'mexw in Squamish, a Vancouver beach, is located west of the seaside neighbourhood of Kitsilano. It is surrounded by Jericho Beach Park, a grassy area with a pond, which is a picnic destination. Jericho Beach is the home of the Jericho Sailing Centre Association.
