Trombley House

West Bay City was a city in Bay County the U.S. state of Michigan. The city was formed from the communities of Banks, Salzburg, and Wenona. The city existed from 1877 to 1905 when it was merged with Bay City, Michigan.

Wenona was a historical settlement in the U.S. state of Michigan, located in what is now Bay City at 43°35′52″N 83°53′53″W.The village was founded in 1863 by Henry W. Sage (1814-1897), a merchant and philanthropist, who along with John McGraw also founded the Sage, McGraw & Company sawmill on the west bank of the Saginaw River. The sawmill, which was the largest in the state, was an early economic center of the community. Sage initially platted the settlement with the name "Lake City", but because there was another Lake City in Michigan, it was renamed Wenona after the mother of Hiawatha in the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. George H. Bates became the first postmaster on February 14, 1865. Wenona incorporated as a village in 1867, and, in 1877 the Michigan Legislature consolidated Wenona with two other nearby villages, Banks and Salzburgh to form the city of West Bay City. In 1905, West Bay City merged with Bay City. The fortunes created from the sawmill operation in Wenona and the lumber industry it supported formed the basis of important early gifts to Cornell University.

Veterans Memorial Park is the central park of Bay County, Michigan. The park, approximately 97 acres (39 ha), is located along the west bank of the Saginaw River in Bay City, Michigan, United States. Across the river is another city park, Wenonah Park.

Mercy Hospital and the Elizabeth McDowell Bialy Memorial House are two associated buildings located at 15th and Water Streets in Bay City, Michigan. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. As of 2018, the structures are operated as the Bradley House, a low income apartment complex.

The Midland Street Commercial District is a primarily commercial historic district located primarilyalong Midland Street, between Catherine and Litchfield Streets, in Bay City, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Bay City Hall is a government building located at 301 Washington Street in Bay City, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Wenonah Park is the central park of Bay County, Michigan. The park, approximately 6.1 acres (2.5 ha), is located along the east bank of the Saginaw River in Bay City, Michigan, United States and centered on an amphitheatre. Across the river is another city park, Veterans Memorial Park.

The Sage Library is a historical structure located on 100 E. Midland St in Bay City, Michigan. The library had its grand opening on January 16, 1884 and was constructed by Henry W. Sage as a gift to Bay City. It is operated as a public library by the Bay County Library System. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is the oldest continually operated library building in the state of Michigan.

Bay City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Bay County. The population was 32,661 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Bay City metropolitan statistical area, which is coterminous with Bay County as part of the larger Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City metropolitan area.The city is located near the base of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, but the city does not contain a coastline within its city limits. The Saginaw River flows through the city and is crossed by several historic bridges, including Liberty Bridge, Veterans Memorial Bridge, Independence Bridge, and Lafayette Avenue Bridge.

The Bay City Downtown Historic District is a primarily commercial historic district, located in Bay City, Michigan and roughly bounded by the Saginaw River, Second Street, Adam Street, and Center Avenue. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The State Theatre is a single-screen movie theater located in Bay City, Michigan. Built in 1908 during the booming lumbering era in Michigan, the State Theatre was originally known as the Bijou, and was one of the many vaudeville and burlesque houses in Bay City. In 1930 the theater was renovated and reopened as the "Bay." The ownership and the name of the theater changed over the years until July 2000, when the theater was purchased by the Bay City Downtown Development Authority who restored the Mayan motif marquee.

The Bay County Library System (BCLS), is a public library system serving Bay County, Michigan. It contains four libraries and one bookmobile. The headquarters library, the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library is located in Bay City, Michigan. The historic Sage Library is a part of this library system.
