Bay City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Bay County. The population was 32,661 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Bay City metropolitan statistical area, which is coterminous with Bay County as part of the larger Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City metropolitan area.The city is located near the base of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, but the city does not contain a coastline within its city limits. The Saginaw River flows through the city and is crossed by several historic bridges, including Liberty Bridge, Veterans Memorial Bridge, Independence Bridge, and Lafayette Avenue Bridge.
