Little Crosthwaite is a hamlet in the Borough of Allerdale in the English county of Cumbria. It forms part of the civil parish of Underskiddaw. Little Crosthwaite is located on the A591 road on the eastern shore of the Bassenthwaite Lake between Keswick and Bassenthwaite. The Calvert Trust a charity that provides disability awareness training and adventurous outdoor activities for people with disabilities has its headquarters there.

Chapel Beck is a minor river in the county of Cumbria in England. The beck rises in the Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District at the confluence of Grisedale Gill and Sanderson Gill, streams draining the mountain of Grisedale Pike. The two streams meet at Revelin Moss to form Comb Beck. Comb Beck is fed by Comb Gill which, along with its tributary Black Gill, flows southward through Thornthwaite Forest. Comb Beck continues through the village of Thornthwaite where it takes the name Chapel Beck, before flowing into Newlands Beck at Rough Mire which is just south of Bassenthwaite Lake.

Newlands Beck is a minor river of Cumbria in England. The beck rises on Dale Head and flows northwards through the picturesque Newlands Valley, past the settlement of Little Town and between Braithwaite and Portinscale before flowing into Bassenthwaite Lake north east of Thornthwaite.

Skiddaw Little Man also called Little Man is a fell in the English Lake District, it is situated four kilometres north of the town of Keswick and reaches a height of 865 metres (2,838 ft).

Crosthwaite Parish Church is a church at Great Crosthwaite on the outskirts of Keswick in Cumbria, England. It is dedicated to St Kentigern and is the Anglican church of the parish of Crosthwaite. Since 1951 it has been a Grade II* listed building. The church has an evangelical tradition. There has been a church on the site since the 6th century. The present building is largely medieval, with some Victorian internal alterations. Among the vicars of the parish was Hardwicke Rawnsley, co-founder of the National Trust.

Portinscale is a village in Cumbria, England, close to the western shore of Derwentwater in the Lake District National Park 1+1⁄2 miles (2.5 kilometres) from Keswick. Portinscale is in the civil parish of Above Derwent, the district of Allerdale, the county of Cumbria, the Copeland parliamentary constituency. Prior to Brexit in 2020 it was part of the North West England constituency of the European Parliament. The village covers approximately 100 acres (40 hectares). At the 2011 census the population was 560.The name of the village means "the harlot's hut", deriving from the Old English "portcwene" (harlot) and Old Norse "skáli" (hut). The scholar Eilert Ekwall cites an undated early spelling of the name as "Portquenscale".

Braithwaite railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumbria, England. The station served the village of Braithwaite. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865. The station was host to six LMS caravans in 1934 and 1935 followed by eight caravans from 1936 to 1939. A camping coach was also positioned here by the London Midland Region from 1958 to 1964.The station closed on 18 April 1966.The station building survives as a private residence.

Keswick School is a coeducational 11–18 academy in Cumbria, United Kingdom with 1360 pupils on roll. There are 309 students in the sixth form and 40 boarders. The school is the successor of the former voluntary aided grammar school of Keswick, founded at the latest by 1591. The symbols on the schools crest are a reference to the miracles of Saint Mungo.. When the school was a Grammar School, it had a school song in Latin which began "Assurgit Skidda stabilis / Mons nunquam non durabilis", referring to the nearby Skiddaw. Two pupils of the school were killed on 24 May 2010 when a coach returning from a school trip was involved in a traffic collision on the A66 road.

Great Crosthwaite is a suburb of the tourist town of Keswick in the Lake District, in the English county of Cumbria.

The River Greta is a river in Cumbria, England. It is a tributary of the River Derwent and flows through the town of Keswick. "Greta" derives from the Old Norse "Griótá", meaning "stony stream". The name is in records dating from the early 13th century, and also appears in Latinised form, as "Gretagila", at the time of Magna Carta. The source of the river is near Threlkeld, at the confluence of the River Glenderamackin and St. John's Beck. From there, the river runs westward, roughly aligned with the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Keswick and Penrith. The river subsequently flows through Keswick before joining the Derwent just after the latter flows out of Derwentwater. The medieval bridge over the river in Keswick was unusual in having two arches; on the great coach road from Kendal to Cockermouth all but two of the other bridges (Troutbeck and Portinscale) crossed their rivers in a single span. The current Greta Bridge in Keswick is another two-arch structure, built in 1926. The major tributaries of the Greta are Naddle Beck and Glenderaterra Beck.

Thornthwaite is a village in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it is just off the A66 road, south of Bassenthwaite Lake and within the Lake District National Park. It is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) by road from Keswick. In 1861 the township had a population of 153. The place-name contains thwaite ("clearing").For administrative purposes, Thornthwaite lies within the civil parish of Above Derwent, the district of Allerdale, and the county of Cumbria. It is within the Copeland constituency of the United Kingdom Parliament. Prior to Brexit in 2020 it was part of the North West England constituency of the European Parliament.St Mary's Church is located a short distance east of the village. It was built in 1831, replacing an earlier church of c.1760 on the same site. The Church is a Grade II listed building.
