The 2014 Senior Open Championship was a senior major golf championship and the 28th Senior Open Championship, held 24–27 July at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Porthcawl, Wales. It was the first Senior Open Championship played at the course and the 12th Senior Open Championship played as a senior major championship. World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer led wire-to-wire and broke the tournament scoring record, finishing at 18-under-par. The 2014 event was Langer's second Senior Open Championship title and his fourth senior major championship victory.

The 2017 Senior Open Championship was a senior major golf championship and the 31st Senior Open Championship, held 27–30 July at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Porthcawl, Wales. It was the 2nd Senior Open Championship played at the course and the 15th Senior Open Championship played as a senior major championship. World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer won by three strokes over Corey Pavin. The 2017 event was Langer's third Senior Open Championship title and his tenth senior major championship victory. Langer also won the 2014 Senior Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club.

Lewedorp is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Borsele, and lies about 9 km east of Middelburg. The village was first mentioned in 1913 as Noordkraaijert. It was renamed on 13 August 1929 and refers to Unico Evert Lewe van Neijenstein, the mayor of 's-Heer Arendskerke between 1892 until 1933. The village used to be located near the ferry to Zuid-Beveland and Walcheren which operated from 1755 until 1872.The Catholic St Eligius Church was built in 1929 and designed by Pierre Cuypers jr.. Lewedorp used to be part of 's-Heer Arendskerke until 1970 when it was merged into Borsele.

's-Heerenhoek is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Borsele, and lies about 12 km east of Middelburg.

COVRA (Centrale Organisatie Voor Radioactief Afval) is the only Dutch nuclear waste processing and storage company. Located in Nieuwdorp, it stores waste produced at the Borssele nuclear power plant after it is reprocessed by Areva NC in La Hague, France. The company also stores radioactive waste from hospitals and laboratories. COVRA currently has a license to operate for one hundred years.

Midden-Zeeland Airport (ICAO: EHMZ), also known as Zeeland Airport, is an airport located 5 NM (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) east northeast of Middelburg, Zeeland, in the Netherlands, just south of the Veerse Meer lagoon. The airfield is uncontrolled (a non-towered airport) and has a single grass runway of 1,000 m (3,281 ft) long in the 09/27 direction, with a displaced threshold of 200 m (660 ft) for the 09 direction. It was founded in 1968 and officially opened in 1970.

The Borssele Nuclear Power Station (Kerncentrale Borssele) is a nuclear power plant near the Dutch town of Borssele. It has a pressurised water reactor (PWR). Borssele is the only nuclear power plant still operational for electricity production in the Netherlands. Its net output is 485 MWe.

Borssele is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Borsele, and lies about 12 km east of Vlissingen. The municipality name is spelled with a single s while the name of the town is spelled with a double s. Borssele is home to the Borssele nuclear power plant. The village's near-symmetrical street plan from 1616 follows a rectangular design with four streets all leading to a central square (called the "Plein"). The streets are named according to their cardinal directions.

The Battle of Walcheren Causeway (Operation Vitality) was an engagement of the Battle of the Scheldt between the 5th Canadian Infantry Brigade, elements of the British 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division and troops of the German 15th Army in 1944. It was the first of many conflicts on and around Walcheren Island during the Scheldt battles. It was also the second major battle fought over a terrain feature known as the Sloedam during the Second World War.

The Sloedam is 1 km long a dam, that was constructed in 1871, as a necessary part of the Roosendaal-Vlissingen Railway, the so-called Zeeuwse Lijn (Zealandic Line). Additionnaly this dam connected the island of Walcheren with Zuid-Beveland across the Sloe waterway, and therefore with the mainland of Brabant.

The Veerse Meer (Lake Veere) is a lagoon in the southwest Netherlands in the province of Zeeland.
