Ottoland

Laagblokland is a former hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located in the former municipality of Graafstroom, between the villages of Molenaarsgraaf and Ottoland. Laagblokland was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1857, when it merged with Ottoland.

Graafland is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 13 km northwest of Gorinchem. The statistical area "Graafland", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 280.

Nieuwpoort is a tiny city in the Netherlands in the municipality of Molenlanden. The place was given city rights in 1283. In 2001, the city of Nieuwpoort had 619 inhabitants. The built-up area of the city was 0.092 km², and contained 230 residences. The statistical area "Nieuwpoort", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1370 (2006).

Goudriaan is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 25 km east of Rotterdam. On 1 January 2006, the village of Goudriaan had 843 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.028 km², and contained 309 residences.Goudriaan was a separate municipality until 1986, when it became part of Graafstroom. Last one has become a part of Molenwaard in 2013.

Langerak is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden. The village of "Langerak" has a population of around 1730. The statistical area "Langerak", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1730.Langerak was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1986, when it became part of Liesveld. Since 2013 Liesveld has become part of the new municipality of Molenwaard.

Molenaarsgraaf is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 11 km west of Gorinchem. In 2001, the village of Molenaarsgraaf had 414 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.041 km², and contained 143 residences. The statistical area "Molenaarsgraaf", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1110.Molenaarsgraaf was a separate municipality until 1986, when it became part of Graafstroom. Latterly it has been part of Molenwaard since 2013. The village contains the War Grave of a Royal Air Force Avro Lancaster crew (less the pilot, who had parachuted to safety). Their names are recorded in Commonwealth War Graves web site as being killed on 22 May 1944. It is understood that their aircraft was shot down by a German night fighter.

Gelkenes is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 12 km southeast of Gouda, on the southside of the Lek River. The statistical area "Gelkenes", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 300.

Liesveld (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlisfɛlt] ) is a former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, and the region of Alblasserwaard. The former municipality had a population of 9,810 in 2006, and covered an area of 44.44 km² (17.16 mile²) of which 3.37 km² (1.30 mile²) was water. Since 2013 Liesveld had been a part of the new municipality of Molenwaard (ceased to exist in 2019). The former municipality of Liesveld was formed on 1 January 1986 from the former municipalities of Groot-Ammers, Langerak, Nieuwpoort, and Streefkerk. It consisted of the population centres Groot-Ammers, Langerak, Nieuwpoort, Streefkerk, and Waal. Its name is probably derived from a low-lying swampy area filled with reed grasses (Dutch: lies - Glyceria maxima) near Gelkenes. Castle Liesvelt was built on such a reedy field, giving its name to the Lords of Liesvelt, who owned lands within the municipality.

Willige Langerak is a hamlet in the Dutch provinces of South Holland and Utrecht. It is located in the municipalities of Krimpenerwaard and Lopik, just east of Schoonhoven. Willige Langerak was a separate municipality in the province of Utrecht between 1818 and 1943, when its largest portion was merged with Lopik in the province of Utrecht and a smaller portion (the church and its surroundings) was added to Schoonhoven in South Holland.It was first mentioned in 1291 as Wilgerkerke, and means willow trees near Langerak. Willige Langerak is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Lopik. Most of the old village has been annexed by Schoonhoven, and the part in Lopik remains. Willige Langerak has its own place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 437 people. The hamlet in Lopik consists of about 120 houses.

The siege of Schoonhoven of 1575, also known as the capture of Schoonhoven, was a Spanish victory that took place between 11 and 24 August 1575, at Schoonhoven, Spanish Netherlands (present-day South Holland, the Netherlands), during the Eighty Years' War and the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604). On June 28, 1575, the Spanish forces, between 8,000 and 10,000 soldiers, led by Gilles de Berlaymont, Lord of Hierges, and Stadtholder of Guelders, Holland, Zeeland and Utrecht, captured Buren, and on August 7, Oudewater. The Spanish commander continued its successful progress and arrived at Schoonhoven on August 11. After 13 days of siege, and a courageous but futile resistance, the rebel forces led by De La Garde, composed by Dutch, English, Scottish, French and Walloon soldiers (about 800 men), surrendered to the more experienced Spanish troops, on August 24. The population of the town, that were unwilling to help the rebel forces, received Berlaymont with great joy.Two weeks later, the Spanish forces under Charles de Brimeu, Count of Megen, marched towards Woerden, and laid siege to the town on September 8.

Waal is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 13 km north of Gorinchem on the southside of the Lek River. The statistical area "Waal", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 110.

Schoonhoven (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsxoːnˌɦoːvə(n)] ) is a city and former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Since 2015 it has been a part of the municipality of Krimpenerwaard, before it had been an independent municipality. The former municipality had a population of data missing in 2021, and covered an area of 6.92 km2 (2.67 sq mi) of which 0.65 km2 (0.25 sq mi) water. From 2010 to 2014, it was the smallest municipality in the Netherlands in land area, following the merger of Rozenburg into Rotterdam. The first winner of the Dutch version of Pop Idol, Jamai Loman, is from this town. Also Jan-Arie van der Heijden, football player for Feyenoord, lives in Schoonhoven.
