Chatteris

Cromwell Community College is a coeducational all-through school and sixth form located in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England.

Chatteris Abbey in Chatteris in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire was founded as a monastery for Benedictine nuns in 1016 by Eadnoth, Bishop of Dorchester. Before 1310 much of the monastery was destroyed by fire. By the middle of the 14th century, some of the local families appear to have been using the nave of the monastic church as their parochial church.Never a wealthy abbey, it survived the first wave of closures during the Dissolution of the Monasteries and was finally surrendered to the King's commissioners in 1538, by which time there were eleven nuns in residence. At this date many families still used the abbey church as parochial but this, unusually, did not save it from demolition, the parishioners being transferred to St Peter and St Paul's Church nearby. A range of the cloister buildings survived as part of a mansion known as Park House. This was demolished in 1847 and with the exception of a few wall fragments, the site has now completely vanished beneath streets and housing; the Park Streets of Chatteris mark its boundaries.

Chatteris railway station was a station in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire on the line between St Ives and March. For much of its history it was run by the Great Eastern Railway. It closed to passengers on 6 March 1967 in the wake of the Beeching Report. The station was demolished in the early 1970s and the station site/ trackbed used for the new alignment of the A141 road.

Chatteris Town Football Club is a football club based in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England. They are currently members of the Peterborough & District League Division One and play at West Street.

The Forty Foot or Forty Foot Drain is a name given to several of the principal channels in the drainage schemes of the Fens of Eastern England, the name being qualified when there is a need to distinguish between them. They are Vermuyden's Drain, South Forty Foot and North Forty Foot.

Swingbrow (sometimes written Swing Brow) is a hamlet near to Chatteris , Cambridgeshire lying alongside the Forty Foot Drain built by Vermuyden. A Neolithic (4000 BC to 2201 BC) "perforated object" was discovered on the site, but the current buildings on the site are largely modern. The hamlet formerly had a pub, the Ram Inn, which is now a residence, and a saddlery, now demolished. No official signs denote the hamlet because it is not safe to install these on the banks of the drain. The hamlet comprises two roads (droves); First Drove and Second Drove.

Doddington is a village and civil parish lying just off the A141 in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, approximately half way (4 miles (6 km)) between Chatteris (to the south) and March (to the north)

Stonea is a hamlet in Cambridgeshire, England, south east of March and part of the parish of Wimblington. Stonea today consists of a scattered collection of farmsteads and houses, the majority sited along Sixteen Foot Bank, a man-made river which forms part of the Middle Level Navigations. The largest settlement is on the bank near the Golden Lion pub. A former Primitive Methodist chapel is now a private residence.This part of Stonea is dissected by a staffed railway crossing on the Ely to Peterborough Line; Stonea railway station closed in 1966. The underpass neighbouring the bridge (which provides a diversion avoiding the level crossing) is said to be the "most bashed rail bridge in Britain", with 33 truck and van strikes in one 12 month period.

Wimblington is a village in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, with a population of 1700 as of the 2001 census, including Stonea and increasing to 2,211 at the 2011 Census.

Wimblington railway station was a station in the village of Wimblington, Cambridgeshire. It was closed in 1967 as part of the Beeching Axe.The station was demolished in the early 1970s and the site used for the construction of the new alignment of the A141 road.
