The Wingate Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Wingate, Union County, North Carolina. It encompasses four contributing buildings in the central business district of Wingate. The district developed between about 1904 and 1925 and the one-story, brick commercial buildings are the State Bank of Wingate (c. 1909), Wingate Drug Company Store (c. 1910), J. L. Austin Company Store (c. 1904), and Katie Lee Austin Store (1925). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Wingate University

Wingate University is a private liberal arts university with campuses in Wingate, Charlotte, and Hendersonville, North Carolina. It identifies as a university with "Judeo-Christian heritage." The university enrolls more than 3,600 students. It offers 37 undergraduate majors as well as eight master's and five doctoral degrees. Academic programs are housed in the Cannon College of Arts and Sciences; the Levine College of Health Sciences; the Byrum School of Business; and the College of Professional Studies, which includes the Thayer School of Education and the School of Sport Sciences.

Irwin Belk Stadium (Wingate)

WXNC (1060 AM) is a commercial radio station in Monroe, North Carolina, serving the Charlotte metropolitan area. It broadcasts a Regional Mexican radio format, branded as “La Z” It is owned by Norsan Media. This station also simulcasts on WNOW 1030 AM WXNC is a daytimer station. By day, WXNC is powered at 4,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. But because AM 1060 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A KYW Philadelphia and XECPAE Mexico City, WXNC must sign off at night to avoid interference. During critical hours, it is powered at 2,400 watts. Programming is heard around the clock on FM translator W247CV at 97.3 MHz.
