Valenzuela (, Tagalog: [ˌvalenˈswela]), officially the City of Valenzuela (Filipino: Lungsod ng Valenzuela), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 714,978 people. It is the 6th most populous city in the National Capital Region, and the 11th most populous in the country. It is located about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) north of Manila, the nation's capital. Valenzuela is categorized under Republic Act Nos. 7160 and 8526 as a highly urbanized, first-class city based on income classification and number of population. A landlocked chartered city located on the island of Luzon, it is bordered by the province of Bulacan, and cities of Caloocan, Malabon and Quezon City. Valenzuela shares border and access to Tenejeros-Tullahan River with Malabon. It has a total land area of 45.75 square kilometers (17.66 sq mi), where its residents are composed of about 72% Tagalog people followed by 5% Bicolanos with a small percentage of foreign nationals. Valenzuela was named after Pío Valenzuela, a physician and a member of the Katipunan, a secret society founded against the colonial government of Spain. The city, as a town, originally had the name Polo, initially formed in 1621 after separation from Meycauayan, Bulacan. The Battle of Malinta of the Philippine–American War was fought in Polo in 1899. In 1960, President Carlos P. Garcia ordered the split of Polo's southern barangays to form another town named as Valenzuela. The split was revoked by President Diosdado Macapagal in 1963 after political disagreements and the new merged town was named Valenzuela. The modern-day Valenzuela with its borders was chartered in 1998.

Maysan Road is one of the main east–west thoroughfares of Valenzuela, Philippines. It is a narrow street with only one lane in each direction making it one of the most congested streets in northern Metro Manila. It runs for approximately 4.5 kilometers (2.8 mi) from MacArthur Highway in barangay Malinta, past the North Luzon Expressway intersection, into North Caloocan. The road connects the central Valenzuela barangays of Malinta, Maysan, Paso de Blas, and Bagbaguin. It was the main access road for vehicles going to Valenzuela and the Manila North Harbor from the North Luzon Expressway prior to the construction of NLEX Segment 9 (NLEX Karuhatan Link), which parallels it to the south.

The Valenzuela People's Park, officially the Valenzuela City People's Park and also known to local residents as simply People's Park or VCPP, is an urban community park located in the city of Valenzuela, Philippines. It is built beside the Valenzuela City Government Center and the Valenzuela Town Center. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (English: University of the City of Valenzuela), also referred to by its acronym PLV is a local government unit-owned public university located in Valenzuela City, Metro Manila, Philippines. PLV is a member of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities. The Council of Valenzuela approved Ordinance No. 14 on June 5, 2002, which paved way for the establishment of PLV. The city-funded institution of higher learning offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs to students of the city. Started as an initiative by high school principals in Valenzuela, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela was initially located at a government building within the vicinity of the old municipal complex of Valenzuela. In 2008, the city government bought a parcel of land near Children of Mary Immaculate College. In 2016, the city government of Valenzuela implemented a full subsidy on tuition and miscellaneous fees in PLV and Valenzuela City Polytechnic College (ValPoly). The city government inaugurated a new PLV campus located along Tongco Street in Barangay Maysan, Valenzuela in 2018.

The Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science (Filipino: Paaralang Pang-matematika at Pang-agham ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela), also referred to as VCSMS and ValMaSci, is a specialized public high school in Valenzuela City, Philippines. Established in 2003 as the Valenzuela City Science High School (Mataas na Paaralang Pang-agham ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela), it offers a special advanced curriculum with emphasis in the fields of mathematics and science to residents of Valenzuela City. The school also has a specialized range of subjects in technology, engineering, and language.

Dalandanan is one of the highly developed barangays in Valenzuela, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was named after the impressive line of dalandan trees that used to distinguish the area. Dalandanan houses the new Valenzuela City Astrodome, Valenzuela Emergency Hospital and Dialysis Center, and Valenzuela City Science High School. It boasts of different business industries like banking and finance (Bank of the Philippine Islands, BDO, Bank of Commerce, and Eastwest Bank), retail (Puregold Valenzuela, Wilcon Depot), pyrotechnic (Victory Fireworks), and biotech and pharmaceuticals (Scheele Laboratories). The Iglesia ni Cristo Locale of Malinta chapel is also located along MacArthur Highway. The now-defunct Manila-Dagupan Railway opened in 1892 and traversed the barrios of Marulas, Caruhatan, Malinta, Dalandanan and Malanday, with the station being in Dalandanan.

Lingunan is a landlocked 1st congressional district urban barangay in Valenzuela City, Philippines. It borders the barangays Viente Reales to the west, Canumay West to the east, Lawang Bato to the north-east and the city of Meycauayan which its barangays Lawa and Caingin borders it to the north. Based on the 2020 census, it has a population of 24,088.
