The Carpenter House, 1211 East 16th Street, Plano, Collin County, Texas, is a Victorian home built in 1898 for Col. Henry C. Overaker and his new bride. Three years in completion, the house was set in the middle of a former cotton field which was part of the colonel's many land holdings. Gibson Edgar Carpenter, a gentleman farmer, lawyer, and judge, purchased the house in the early 1920s to ensure his children would receive the best education in the Plano school system. Carpenter Middle School, named for Carpenter’s father Robert Washington Carpenter, is located on land formerly owned by the family. Plano East Senior High School (commonly known as East, Plano East, or PESH) is a public secondary school in Plano, Texas (USA) serving high school juniors and seniors, as well as freshmen and sophomores as a part of the IB World School (beginning with the 2013–2014 school year). It is part of the Plano Independent School District, and enrolls students based on the locations of students' homes. Students at Plano East attended one of two feeder high schools: McMillen or Williams. The school colors are black and gold, and the school mascot is the panther. Plano East has been awarded the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, Best High School in Texas designation by Redbook magazine, Texas Education Agency Blue Ribbon School, and State and National Academic Decathlon Championships.Plano East's graduating classes are among the largest for high schools not only in the state of Texas, but also in the United States. Plano East's Class of 2005, with 1220 graduates, was the largest high school graduating class in the U.S. that year. 12th Street station is a future DART Light Rail and commuter rail station along the Red Line, Orange Line (Rush Hour only) and the Silver Line in Plano, Texas. The station has two levels, with the ground-level at 12th Street & K Avenue serving the Silver Line and the elevated level (two blocks west at 1000 12th Street) serving the Red Line and the Orange Line. The City of Plano approved the purchase of a piece of land in February 2015 in anticipation of its construction.The two platforms will be connected by a sidewalk about 500 feet (150 m) long. The station's bus bays and parking lots will be next to the Silver Line platform: the bus bays and a small parking lot on its north side and a larger parking lot on its south side.The station is scheduled to open with the completion of the Silver Line in late 2025 to mid-2026.

Downtown Plano station is a DART Light Rail station in Plano, Texas. It is located at the intersection of 15th Street and Avenue J and serves the Red Line and Orange Line. It opened on December 9, 2002. It is located at the historic Plano Station, which was once served by the first-generation interurban Texas Electric Railway, and now serves as the Interurban Railway Museum.

Plano Station, Texas Electric Railway, now known as the Interurban Railway Museum, is a historic train station at 901 E 15th Street in Plano, Texas. It is still served by the Downtown Plano station of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail, which reutilized the right of way of the interurban. The Mission Revival/Spanish Revival style station was completed in 1908 at the opening of the Texas Electric Railway. The railway operated from 1908 to 1948. The station stood vacant until the City of Plano renovated it into the Interurban Railway Museum in 1990. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 2005. The museum also displays Car 360, a restored railcar of the Texas Electric Railway, on the grounds.

CityLine/Bush station (formerly Bush Turnpike station) is a DART Light Rail station in Richardson, Texas. It is located on the President George Bush Turnpike near US 75 (Central Expressway). It opened on December 9, 2002 as a station on the Red Line, serving the area around the former Collin Creek Mall site. The Orange Line was added in 2010. The station is planned to be an intersection between those lines and the future Silver Line commuter rail.In January 2016, DART announced that the station would be renamed as CityLine/Bush station on March 14 as part of the service changes, due to the enlargement of the CityLine development zone.

Plano Balloon Festival is held each September at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in the city of Plano, Texas. It is one of the city's largest celebrations. The festival was cancelled in 2018 because of heavy rains and flooding. It was also cancelled in 2020 and 2021 from the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned September 2022.
