Godfrey-Barnette House

Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It encompasses 32 contributing buildings in the central business district of Brevard. The district developed between about 1874 and 1952 and includes notable examples of Early Commercial, Second Empire, and Classical Revival style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed McMinn Building and Transylvania County Courthouse. Other notable buildings include the Lowe Auto Company (c. 1928), Brevard Banking Company (1924), Brevard Drugs/Mull's Grocery (c. 1926), Brevard City Hall and Fire Station (1926), Plummer's Department Store (1911), Brevard Banking Company (1924) designed by Erle Stillwell, Co-ed Theater (1939), Pearlman's (1952), Aethelwold Hotel (1905, c. 1960), and City Market (c. 1905, 1940s).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

McMinn Building is a historic commercial building located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1899, and is a two-story, rectangular brick building with robust decorative brickwork in the Italianate style. It has three storefronts on the first floor, and offices on the second arranged in a U-shaped plan.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It is located in the Main Street Historic District.

Transylvania County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1873, and is a two-story, "T"-plan Italianate style brick building with a hipped roof. It has a rear addition built in the early-20th century. The front facade features a projecting three-story tower topped by a concave mansard roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Main Street Historic District.

East Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It encompasses 14 contributing buildings, 1 contributing structure, and 1 contributing site in a predominantly residential section of Brevard. The district developed between about 1900 and 1959 and includes notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Silvermont, William Breese, Jr., House, Charles E. Orr House, Royal and Louise Morrow House, and Max and Claire Brombacher House. Other notable buildings include the Lankford-Cleveland House (c. 1858, 1900), Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church (1956, 1965, 1996), White House (c. 1900), Wyke-Barclay House (1905), and Carrier-Plummer House (1914).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Silvermont is a historic home located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1916–1917, and is a two-story, five-bay, Colonial Revival style brick dwelling with a gambrel roof. Also on the property is a one-story, stone veneer cottage. It has a rear ell, two-story front portico supported by columns with Corinthian order capitals, one-story wraparound porch, porte cochere, and sunroom. The house and grounds were donated to Transylvania County in 1972, and serve as a public recreation center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is located in the East Main Street Historic District.

St. Philip's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at 256 E. Main Street in Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Louis Humbert Asbury and built in 1926. It is a tall one-story, Normanesque Revival style stone structure on a nave plan, with a narthex/tower on the main elevation and a chancel on the rear. It has a two-story bell tower and stained glass windows.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It is located in the East Main Street Historic District.

The Transylvania Times is an American, English language bi-weekly newspaper in Transylvania County, North Carolina, in the United States, and its surrounding area. The paper was founded in 1887, and was family-owned and operated until it was sold to Community Newspaper Holdings in 2021. It provides news coverage for Brevard, Pisgah Forest, Rosman and Lake Toxaway, as well as the townships of Cathey's Creek, Dunn's Rock, Eastatoe, Gloucester, Hogback and Little River.Weekly features include Church News, School News, Sports, Arts and Entertainment, Senior Citizens News and Opinions of the Readers. The Transylvania Times has funded and supported many community improvement initiatives.

William Breese Jr. House, also known as the Colonial Inn and the Inn at Brevard, is a historic home located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built about 1902, and is a two-story, Classical Revival style frame dwelling with a pebbledash finish and hipped roof. It has a two-story rear ell and features a central, two-story Ionic order entrance portico. It was converted for use as an inn and restaurant around 1955.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is located in the East Main Street Historic District. Numerous changes have accompanied the building's conversion to a restaurant and inn. On the second floor a wall was removed from between the south rooms creating a large meeting roo~. On the ground floor the doorway to the original dining room has been enlarged. One fireplace has been closed off. Most of the building's ceilings have received facing materials such as acoustical tile. However, the institutional kitchen manages to function out of the original kitchen space and overall the original character of the building has not been seriously compromised. The Colonial Inn remains one of Brevard's finest examples of turn of the century architecture. Through its use of the locally popular pebbledash to execute the familiar Neo-classical Revival design it makes a strong statement about propriety in turn of the century western North Carolina.

Max and Claire Brombacher House, also known as Hemlock Hill, is a historic home located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1940, and is a one-story, rectangular, Rustic style stone dwelling. It has a pyramidal roof over the south block and a side-gable over the north wing. It was constructed of irregular, jagged-edge stones by local stonemasons.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Charles E. Orr House is a historic home located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926, and is a two-story, Tudor Revival style dwelling of uncoursed rock-faced granite. It has a combination hip and clipped gable roof. Also on the property is a one-story, stone veneer cottage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. It is located in the East Main Street Historic District.

Royal and Louise Morrow House, also known as Stone Cottage, is a historic home located at Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was built in 1915, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, Bungalow / American Craftsman style stone dwelling. It has a steep, side-gable roof and three-bay wall dormers. Also on the property is a contributing garage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. It is located in the East Main Street Historic District.

Brevard High School is a public high school in Brevard, North Carolina, one of three along with Rosman High School and Davidson River School in the Transylvania County Schools district. The highschool has experienced a slight incline in student population going from 723 in 2012–2013 to around 770 in the 2017–2018 school year.The school was located on South Broad Street from 1925 until the 1959–60 school year, when the campus on Country Club Road opened. Until court-ordered desegregation began in 1963, Brevard High was white, and black students attended a school in Hendersonville.
