St. Xavier's College is a private Catholic university college located in the town of Mapusa (also spelt as Mapuca, Mapusa or Mapsa) in the district of North Goa, India. It is the largest and oldest college north of the Mandovi River in Goa, a state along the west coast of India. The college is accredited by the NAAC with a Grade "A", or CGPA 3.12 out of 4.

It was founded in 1946 and is run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is all-boys and includes grades one through ten. In 2017 all 142 graduates passed the secondary exam.

Tivim was also the ancestral village of the first global beauty queen of India, Ms. Reita Faria. More recently Prathamesh Maulingkar was crowned Mister Supranational 2018. .

Mapusa Municipal Market (also known as Mapusa Market and Mapusa Friday Market) is a traditional market in Mapusa, North Goa and a major tourist attraction. It was built in 1960, the first planned market in Goa. The market has three blocks with 164 shops, some of which have been sub-divided, so bringing the total to 173. It is open every day, except Sunday; and is particularly popular on Friday mornings.

Teotonio Francisco Paulo Pereira (18 March 1930 – 16 February 2022) was an Indian politician, social activist, freedom fighter, musician, orator and businessperson from Goa. He was a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the St. Andre Assembly constituency from 1963 to 1977 and 1980 to 1984.
