Sant Joan d'Alacant (Valencian pronunciation: [ˈsaɲ dʒuˈan dalaˈkant]) or San Juan de Alicante (in Spanish) is a municipality belonging to Alicante metropolitan area, in the southeast of Valencian Community, Spain. It is the geographic center of the Old Garden of Alicante. Its limits are with the settled areas of Alicante (7 km), Mutxamel (1 km) and El Campello (3 km). It is within the Alicante metropolitan area and shares the same fire department and metro services. Its population growth is due to its function as a bedroom community, as well as in recent years, its isolation from tourist areas, its cultural and academic activities, and because has part of the campus of the University Miguel Hernández of Elx/Elche. It comprises two zones: the town of Sant Joan and Benimagrell, which is now joined through its urban expansion. As of the census of 2005, the population was 19,711.

El Campello (Valencian pronunciation: [el kamˈpeʎo]; Spanish: Campello) is a town on the Costa Blanca of Spain, within the Valencian Community. It is a 20-minute tram ride from Alicante city. There is a busy marina and fish market. The tower overlooking the harbour was built in the 16th century as a lookout for Berber pirates. During the day, smoke signals warned other towers along the coast of the pirates' pending arrival, and fires were lit when it was dark. During October each year, the town holds its moros i cristians (Moors and Christians) festival. The festival includes daily "battles" through the town, where arquebuses are extensively used. There are numerous parades and late night fireworks displays. The evening parades through the centre of the town are resplendent with extravagant costumes.

Mutxamel (Valencian pronunciation: [mutʃaˈmɛl]) or Muchamiel (in Spanish) is a municipality in the comarca of Alacantí, Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain.

Lucentum (Greek: Λούκεντον, Loúkenton), called Lucentia by Pomponius Mela, is the Roman predecessor of the city of Alicante, Spain. Particularly, it refers to the archaeological site in which the remains of this ancient settlement lie, at a place known as El Tossal de Manises, in the neighborhood of Albufereta.

The Alicante Tram, trademarked as Alicante Metropolitan TRAM (Valencian: TRAM Metropolità d'Alacant, Spanish: TRAM Metropolitano de Alicante), operates in the Spanish city of Alicante (Valencia) and its surrounding area. Like other narrow gauge railways in the Valencian Community, it is run by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV). It was inaugurated on 15 August 2003 replacing narrow-gauge diesel trains between Alicante and El Campello. The Alicante Metropolitan Tram light rail combines different modes of rail services: a partially underground modern tramway through Alicante city centre, a tram-train from Alicante to Benidorm, and conventional commuter rail from Benidorm to Altea, Calp and Dénia.

El Barco (The Ship) is a residential apartment tower in Albufereta, Alicante, Spain. It is formally called Torre Vistamar de la Albufereta, meaning "Albufereta Sea View Tower".El Barco was one of a cluster of buildings erected in the former village of Albufereta for "Pied-Noirs", or residents from France and other European countries, in Francoist Spain. It was completed in 1963. The building was designed by Juan Guardiola, inspired by the Pirelli Tower designed by Giò Ponti in Milan. It takes its common name from its boat-shaped floor plan. El Barco is one of the most distinctive buildings of Alicante. It has an unusual lattice-work facade protecting the rear wall and windows, which was preserved during renovations completed in 2011.As of 2013 El Barco ranked in height as #370 in Europe and #34 in Spain. At 111 metres (364 ft) El Barco is the second tallest building in Alicante, after Estudiotel Alicante at 117 metres (384 ft). The third tallest is Gran Sol at 97 metres (318 ft). In December 2006 the building was effectively isolated from vehicle access when the Sol Naciente access road collapsed, requiring construction of a new retaining wall along the beach.

College of the Immaculate, Alicante, Spain, was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1954. It is coeducational and includes three-year-olds through primary, secondary (ESO), and baccalaureate.

The Archaeological Museum of Alicante (Spanish: Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Alicante, Valencian: Museu Arqueològic Provincial d'Alacant, abbreviated as MARQ) is an archaeological museum in Alicante, Spain. The museum won the European Museum of the Year Award in 2004, a few years after significant expansion and reallocation to renovated buildings of the antique hospital of San Juan de Dios. The museum houses eight galleries that use multimedia to allow visitors to interact with the lives of past residents of the region.

Busot (Valencian: [buˈzɔt], Spanish: [buˈsot]) is a municipality in the comarca of Alacantí in the Valencian Community, Spain. The moros i cristians festivals are held from the Friday to the Monday on the weekend after Easter weekend every year. Canelobre Cave is found in Busot. Considered the highest cave in spain, and one of the largest at just over 80,000 cubic meters in volume, this is an experience not to be missed, even the view looking down the valley toward the costal town of “El Campello” is worth the trip. Access is well signed from Busot village. The caves or “cuevas” were used during the spanish civil war for building and repair of vital aircraft engines for a brief 5 year period in the 1930’s. the caves were then opened to the public in 1965. Mount Benacantil (Valencian pronunciation: [benakanˈtil]) is a mount (or rather a large hill) that dominates the urban part of Alicante, and is the characteristic image of the city. The mount name appears as Banu-l-Qatil in the work of Muslim geographer Al-Idrisi in the 12th century, but it is possible that this is an error of transcription (Arab names like "beni" are abundant on the peninsula; the name means "family tree") because it does not make sense in Arabic (it would be "the family of the murderer"). Compared with other names in the Valencian Community, the mount name is more likely to be derived from the word "benna", an Arabic transcription of "pinna", which is "rock" in Latin; combined with the adjective "laqanti", which comes from "Laqant," the Arabic name of the city. Therefore, a half Roman, half Arabic toponym, "Benna Laqanti".The rock mount is covered by pine trees and bushes on the north side, while on the south side, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, there are only rocks. In the intermediate areas there are bushes and grasses that are quite characteristic for the dry Mediterranean climate. The mount is famous for the rock formation on its south-western slope, known as la cara del moro ("the moor's face").(view image) The medieval fortress of Alicante, the Castle of Santa Bárbara stands on the top of the mount. On the slopes of the mount there are Park Ereta, neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, San Roque, San Anton and Raval Roig, and antique apartments. In recent years it became a botellón place. Avenida Jaime II, which is a continuation of Avenida de Alfonso el Sabio, crosses the northern foot of the mount, and so does a tunnel of Alicante Tram.

Santa Bárbara Castle (Valencian: Castell de Santa Bàrbara, Spanish: Castillo de Santa Bárbara) is a fortification in the center of Alicante, Spain. It stands on Mount Benacantil (166 m).

The Basilica of Santa Maria is the oldest active church in Alicante, Spain. It was built in Valencian Gothic style between the 14th and 16th centuries over the remains of a mosque. The basilica is composed from a single nave with six side chapels located between the buttresses. In 2007, by request of the city of Alicante to the Holy See, the church was promoted to the rank of basilica.
