Crane Eater Creek is a stream in Gordon County, Georgia, United States, that is a tributary of the Coosawattee River. Crane Eater Creek has the name of a Cherokee man who settled near its course.

Gordon County is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 57,544. The county seat is Calhoun. Gordon County comprises the Calhoun, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Chattanooga-Cleveland-Dalton Combined Statistical Area.

New Town (Cherokee: ᎤᏍᏔᎾᎵ, romanized: Ustanali) is an unincorporated community in Gordon County, Georgia, United States, located northeast of Calhoun. New Town is near the New Echota historic site, which was formerly part of the Cherokee Nation. Ashworth Middle School and Gordon Central High School are located in the New Town community. New Town is the English translation of the historic Cherokee name, Ꭴꮝꮤꮎꮅ Ustanali.

The Conasauga River is a river that runs through southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia. The Conasauga River is 93 miles (150 km) long and drains into the Oostanaula River, a tributary of the Coosa River and part of the watershed of the Gulf of Mexico. The river is home to over 90 species of fish and 25 surviving species of freshwater mussels. Its watershed encompasses over 500,000 acres (2,000 km2) in two states, multiple counties, and two ecologically different regions.

The Gordon County School District is a public school district in Gordon County, Georgia, United States, based in Calhoun. It serves the communities of Calhoun, Cash, Damascus, Fairmount, New Town, Plainville, Ranger, Red Bud, Resaca, Sonoraville, and Sugar Valley.

New Echota was the capital of the Cherokee Nation in the Southeastern United States from 1825 until their forced removal in the late 1830s. New Echota is located in present-day Gordon County, in northwest Georgia, north of Calhoun. It is south of Resaca, next to present day New Town, known to the Cherokee as Ꭴꮝꮤꮎꮅ, Ustanali. The site has been preserved as a state park and a historic site. It was designated in 1973 as a National Historic Landmark District. The site is at the confluence of the Coosawattee and Conasauga rivers, which join to form the Oostanaula River, a tributary of the Coosa River. Archeological evidence has shown that the site of New Echota had been occupied by ancient indigenous cultures for thousands of years prior to the Cherokee. It was known as Gansagiyi or Gansagi. The Cherokee renamed it New Echota in 1825 after making it the capital, in honor of their former chief town of Chota, based along the lower Little Tennessee River as one of the Overhill towns on the west side of the Appalachian Mountains.

Salacoa Creek is a stream in Bartow (Old Cass County) County, in northwestern Georgia, United States, that is a tributary of the Coosawattee River. Its own tributaries include the Pine Log Creek. The stream probably took its name from a Native American (Indian) village in the northwest part of Cherokee County.
