Derzhprom (Ukrainian: Держпром, (listen)) is a station on Kharkiv Metro's Oleksiivska Line. The station opened on 6 May 1995.

Freedom Square (Ukrainian: Площа Свободи, romanized: Plóshcha Svobódy; Russian: Площадь Свободы, romanized: Plóshchad' Svobódy) in Kharkiv, Ukraine, is the 8th largest city-centre square in Europe. On 1 March 2022, during the battle of Kharkiv in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the square and the surroundings were hit by Russian missiles.

Kharkiv University History Museum is one of the first history museums created at a higher educational institution in Ukraine. It is located on the second floor of the main building of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The Derzhprom (Ukrainian: Держпром) or Gosprom (Russian: Госпром) building is a constructivist structure in Freedom Square, Kharkiv, Ukraine. Its name is an abbreviation of two words that, taken together, mean State Industry. In English the structure is known as the State Industry Building or the Palace of Industry. It was built during the Soviet era in 1928. It is the first Soviet 13-story skyscraper.Derzhprom takes its place as a unique phenomenon of world architecture among the various structures that represent the modernist architecture of the first half of the 20th century, which are already on the UNESCO World Heritage List or the Tentative List.

The Universytet (Ukrainian: Університет, (listen), Russian: Университет) is a station on Kharkiv Metro's Saltivska Line. The station was opened on 10 August 1984 and is located beneath the Ploscha Svobody, at the time, the largest square in Europe and the second largest in the world after Tiananmen Square, in the centre of Kharkiv. The station is named after the Kharkiv National University, which is located on top of the square. Up until 1994 the station was called Dzerzhinska according to the name of the square Poloscha Dzerzhinskoho, (Dzherzhinsky square) after the founder of the Soviet Secret Police Felix Dzerzhinsky. It currently forms a complex with the adjacent station Derzhprom on the Oleksiivska Line. The station is located deep underground and is a bi-level pillar-trispan with blank marble columns. The station's service rooms are located on one of the second level balconies, and the other balcony is used as an underground passenger transfer for when there are fairs and concerts on the Ploscha Svobody. The underground transfer was once used for daily passenger usage during the 1980s, but was closed down during the early 1990s. There are six-meter cupolas in diameter, each hanging 12 meters apart and weighing 120 tons, are incorporated into the ceiling, in which the station's chandeliers hang. The station itself is 13 meters in width, due to the transfer point to the Derzhprom station on the Oleksiyivsky Line. The transfer itself was supposed to include escalator access to passengers, but as there was an economic crisis in the country, the escalators were abandoned and replaced with regular stairs. A large portrait of Felix Dzerzhinsky was located on the station which was later removed after the renovation of the station. Station vestibules are located on both ends of the station, which have been linked with a network of underground passenger tunnels which have many small shops.

Kharkiv National Medical University (Ukrainian: Харківський національний медичний університет), formerly known as Kharkiv Medical Institute and previously Kharkiv State Medical University, is a medical university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. In March 2022 many buildings were heavily damaged due to the Russian invasion into Ukraine.Over 700 teachers work at the departments of the university. Staff capacity is 5 corresponding members NAMN Ukraine, 17 Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, 2 Honored high school Ukraine, 13 distinguished doctors of Ukraine, 8 winners of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Engineering, 28 academicians of the public academies of Ukraine, 28 employees - Member of International Medical Associations;. Since 1951, the University has been training medical personnel for countries of the Eastern Europe, China and Mongolia, and since 1961 it has been training students from other countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. At present, there are about 3400 foreign students in the Kharkiv National Medical University who study at the Preparatory Department, Medical, Nursing and Dental Faculties, undergo postgraduate and clinical post-graduate (residency) courses as well as professional probation at departments of the University in Dental, therapy, orthopedics, surgery, oncology, urology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as other medical specialties. The University has trained over 5000 specialists for 86 states of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East countries. Among them there are 3 Doctors and 70 Candidates of Medical Science, about 200 clinical post-graduates (residents).

The Kharkiv government building airstrike occurred on March 1, 2022, when Russian forces attacked the government administrative building of the Kharkiv oblast in the Kharkiv city.

The Kharkov Governorate (Pre-reformed Russian: Ха́рьковъская губе́рнія, tr. Khar'kovskaya guberniya, IPA: [ˈxarʲkəfskəjə ɡʊˈbʲernʲɪjə]; Ukrainian: Харківська губернія, romanized: Kharkivska huberniia) was a governorate of the Russian Empire founded in 1835. It embraced the historical region of Sloboda Ukraine. From 1765 to 1780 and from 1796 to 1835 the governorate was called the Sloboda Ukraine Governorate. In 1780-1796 there existed the Kharkov Viceroyalty. From 1765 to 1780, the Sloboda–Ukraine Governorate existed. In 1780, the Kharkov Viceroyalty was established and lasted until 1796. In 1835, the Viceroyalty was again reorganized into the Sloboda-Ukrainian Governorate, and from 1835 onwards, the Kharkov Governorate was formed, which existed until 1925. With each reorganization, the boundaries and administrative structure change significantly. The main state tax implementation, processing, and publishing of statistical information for the Kharkov governorate were the Kharkov Governorate Statistical Committee.

The Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre was a theater in Kharkiv, Ukraine. It was heavily damaged and possibly destroyed in March 2022 during the Battle of Kharkiv (2022) in the ongoing 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine when Russian forces attacked Freedom Square. The postmodern theater building was built in 1991 and featured tufa tiles. A student-led study at the Kharkiv School of Architecture found that the theater was considered a "community hub" and that the exterior was popular with skateboarders.Notable performances at the venue include a 2019 production of the ballet Swan Lake, choreographed by Johan Nus, which used 42 tons of water. On December 23, 2020, the opera house was the site of the funeral for Kharkiv mayor Hennadii Kernes.

Mirror Stream (Ukrainian: Дзеркальний струмінь, Dzerkalʹnyi struminʹ; Russian: Зеркальная струя, Zerkalʹnaya struya) is a fountain in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The natural fountain was discovered in 1947.The fountain is near the Kharkiv Philharmonic. It was built in 1947. It remains one of the most remarkable architectural monuments in Kharkiv and, due to that, has been listed in UNESCO's Encyclopedia. A "Komsomol Heroes Alley" with busts of young World War II heroes was located behind the fountain from 1958 until 2013. The busts were removed during the construction of the new church Khram Svyatykh Zhon-Myronosytsʹ, due to the 2015 decommunization laws they have never returned.

Slovo Building (Ukrainian: Будинок «Слово») is a residential multi-story building located in the Shevchenkivskyi District of Kharkiv. The shape of the building reflects the letter C in the Ukrainian word слово ("slovo") which means "word". Therefore, the shape of the building symbolized that it was constructed specially for prominent Ukrainian writers, who lived there in a total of 66 apartments. Built in the late 1920s, it housed many Ukrainian writers and poets, some of whom, known as the Executed Renaissance, were later executed by the Soviet Union in Sandarmokh.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Ukrainian: Кафедральний собор Успіння Пресвятої Діви Марії ) also called Assumption Cathedral is the name given to a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church that follows the Roman or Latin rite and is located in the city of Kharkiv in Kharkiv Oblast in east part of the European country of Ukraine. The temple was built in neo-Gothic style between 1887 and 1892 on Gogol Street. In the thirties of the twentieth century, during the period of the Soviet Union the church was closed and turned into secular Local housed, among others, a cinema and an installation of the Communist Party. In 1992 the temple was returned to the Catholic faithful. Since 2002 is the cathedral of the new diocese of Kharkiv - Zaporizhzhia (Dioecesis Kharkiviensis-Zaporizhiensis, Харківсько-Запорізька дієцезія) that was created by bull "Ad plenius prospiciendum" of Pope John Paul II.
