North Gosforth Academy

Seaton Burn is a village in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne, and adjacent to Wideopen which is just south of it. It is part of the wider Seaton valley in which some Seaton villages are in Northumberland, and others in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear. This is because the area lies on the border between the two counties. The A1 used to pass through the village but now bypasses the village just to the west, where it meets the A19 which is the link road to the Tyne Tunnel.

Wideopen, also occasionally misspelled as Wide Open, is a village in the North Tyneside metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear, England, around 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Newcastle. Wideopen adjoins the settlements of Seaton Burn, Brunswick Village and Hazlerigg. The village straddles the historic Great North Road, formerly the A1 trunk road, but is now bypassed by a new alignment of the A1 immediately to the west. The village lies in an area with a strong mining history and had its own colliery. Weetslade Country Park, to the east of the village, is reclaimed from an extensive area of coal mining activity.In 2012 work commenced on the building of a new housing estate by Bellway homes, called Five Mile Park. It is located to the east of the Great North Road, between Lockey Park and Weetslade Country Park. The name refers to the distance from the centre of Newcastle; similarly, there is a Three Mile Inn to the south, and a Six Mile Bridge to the north.

The Seaton Burn Wagonway (originally known as the Brunton and Shields Railway) was from 1826 to 1920 a partially horse-drawn and partially rope-operated industrial railway with a gauge of 4 ft 6 in (1,372 mm) near Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Sacred Heart Church is a Roman Catholic church and ecclesiastical parish in North Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. Situated between Wideopen village to the north and Gosforth Park to the south, the church was made a Grade II listed building in 2006. It is notable for its stained glass windows bearing designs by members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, in particular Sir Edward Burne-Jones.

Hazlerigg (often misspelled Hazelrigg) is a village and civil parish north of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne in Tyne and Wear, England. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of the city centre, on the A1. It is split between Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside, each side of the A1 being a different district. The parish council administer the Newcastle side, whereas the area located in North Tyneside is unparished. Much of the Newcastle Great Park development is within the area administered by the Hazlerigg Parish Council. Located in the village is a post office, a fish & chip shop, a beauty salon, a hairdresser, a garage, a convenience store and a social club that is now open under new management. In spite of having a population of 1,053, and almost 800 homes, Hazlerigg has never had a pub. The population of the civil Parish taken at the 2011 Census was 980.The village Community Centre is located at the west of the village next to the 'show field', formerly the site of the annual village Gala. A football field is located between Hazlerigg and the neighbouring Brunswick Village. Although Brunswick Village is only a 2-minute walk from Hazlerigg, the journey may take longer by car as there is no direct road linking the two villages, as they were once separated by a railway line for coal wagons. The path between the villages now follows the route of this wagonway. The shortest journey by road is two miles via Wideopen and the old Great North Road. The village is now being expanded by a large housing development called Havannah Park to the west, across the road from the Havannah Nature Reserve.

Brunswick Village is a village split between North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne, and borders Hazlerigg, Dinnington and Wideopen. It was formerly known as Dinnington Colliery.

The first station in the area opened in 1860 as Dudley and served Dudley Colliery and the village of Dudley in North Tyneside, England. It was located on the East Coast Main Line to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne. In 1874 it was renamed Dudley Colliery before becoming Annitsford in April 1878. On 8 July 1878 the station was closed and replaced with a second station 352 yards south of the first station. The railway station was located in Dudley but was named after the nearby village of Annitsford, to avoid confusion with another Dudley in the Midlands.

Arcot Hall Grasslands and Ponds is the name given to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Cramlington in Northumberland, England, notable as the largest lowland species-rich grassland in North East England. The site is composed of grassland, heath, ponds, and associated damp habitats now rare in Northumberland.

Gosforth House now known as Brandling House is a Grade II listed building built as a mansion house and now serving as a hospitality and conference centre at Gosforth Park Racecourse, Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Parklands is an electoral ward of Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England. It encompasses the northern edge of the suburb of Gosforth, north of the Metro line and bisected north–south by the Great North Road to the northern boundary of the City of Newcastle, bounded to the west by the A1 and east by the A189. It possesses large areas of green space including Gosforth Park Race Course, Gosforth Wood and Gosforth Lake, plus a number of golf courses. Melton Park contains the remains of a medieval chapel which is a scheduled ancient monument.

Dudley is a large village in North Tyneside, in the county of Tyne and Wear, England. A former mining village and formerly part of Northumberland, it was the site of Annitsford railway station, originally named Dudley. Dudley Colliery was situated in the village from 1856 until its closure in 1977.Former professional football player and coach Bobby Ferguson was born in the village.Robson Green, an English actor, angler, singer-songwriter and presenter, is from the village and grew up there.

Gosforth Park is a park north of Gosforth in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It houses Newcastle Racecourse, Virgin Money Unity Arena, a Britannia hotel, two golf courses, a garden centre and a football centre. It is also home to Gosforth Nature Reserve, a private SSSI managed by the Natural History Society of Northumbria, consisting of a lake and woodland. The park was laid out by Charles Brandling (1733–1802), a wealthy coal-mine owner and local politician, to adorn his new mansion, Gosforth House (now Brandling House, the racecourse hospitality and conference centre), built 1755–64. Up to the 1950s tramcars came into the park on race days through a special gate from what was then the A1 Great North Road. Between 2016 and 2019 the two walled gardens and icehouse at Gosforth Park were the subject of archaeological investigations by AAG Archaeology, prior to the gardens having houses built within them.
