Hengsteysee

The Klusenberg is, at 254.33 m above NHN, the highest elevation on the territory of the city of Dortmund. The Klusenberg part of the Ardey Hills lies west of the Hohensyburg. To the south its slopes fall away into the Hengsteysee lake. The Klusenberg is wooded with just a few residential houses.

The Syberg is a hill in the Ruhr in the southern part of Dortmund, 240 m above sea level (NN), which is part of the Ardey Hills. The Syberg is home to the Sigiburg, the Vincke Tower, a monument to Emperor William I and other points of interest. The family name of the House of Syberg is derived from the Syberg.

The Sigiburg was a Saxon hillfort in Western Germany, overlooking the River Ruhr near its confluence with the River Lenne. The ruins of the later Hohensyburg castle now stand on the site, which is in Syburg, a neighbourhood in the Hörde district of Dortmund. Archaeological evidence suggests the site was occupied in the Neolithic era. The hillfort was raised ca. 700 by Westphalian Saxons. During the Saxon Wars, it was taken by the Franks under Charlemagne in 772, retaken by the Saxons (possibly under Widukind) in 774, and taken again and refortified by Charlemagne in 775.

Syburg is a borough (Stadtbezirk) of the city of Dortmund in the Ruhr district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since 1929, it has been a borough of Dortmund, located in the city's south. It is part of the Hörde district.

St. Peter (also St. Peter zu Syburg) is a Romanesque church in Syburg, now a suburb of Dortmund, Germany. It is the active Protestant parish church of Syburg, officially named "Ev. Kirche St. Peter zu Dortmund-Syburg". It serves as a concert venue for the bimonthly Syburger Sonntagsmusiken (Syburg Sunday Music).

The Lenne is a tributary of the river Ruhr in the Sauerland hills, western Germany. It has caused flooding in recent years.Having its source on top of the Kahler Asten near Winterberg in an intermittent spring at an elevation of 2,687 ft (819 m), the Lenne ends after a course of 129 km flowing into the Ruhr river near the city of Hagen. With an average discharge of 25 m³/s near its mouth, it is the main tributary of the Ruhr.

The Volme is a river in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and is a tributary of the river Ruhr. It is 50.5 kilometres (31.4 mi) long, of which about 21 km (13 mi) lie within the city limits of Hagen. Its largest tributary is the Ennepe. The Volme rises at 480 metres (1,570 ft) above sea level in the southeastern part of the Ruhr region, southeast of the town Meinerzhagen. It flows through the municipalities of Meinerzhagen, Kierspe, Halver (Oberbrügge), Lüdenscheid (Brügge), Schalksmühle and Hagen and empties into the Ruhr at 91 m (299 ft) above sea level. In the city of Hagen, the Volme is predominantly canalised, and since 2004 has been under restoration. Herdecke (German pronunciation: [ˈhɛʁˌdɛkə] (listen)) is a town in the district of Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It is located south of Dortmund in the Ruhr Area. Its location between the two Ruhr reservoirs Hengsteysee and Harkortsee has earned it the nickname Die Stadt zwischen den Ruhrseen (lit. The city between the Ruhr lakes). The city is located in the area of the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR). The two Ruhr lakes as well as the forests on the Ardey heights make the town attractive to tourists. The historic center with its many half timbered houses and the 30-metre-high railway viaduct across the Ruhr valley are two more landmarks.

Hagen-Vorhalle station is a large marshalling yard of national importance and a small passenger station for local services in the Hagen district of Vorhalle in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was opened in its present form in 1910 in and is one of the nine major marshalling yards in Germany and a key element of the 200X program to upgrade Germany's freight infrastructure initiated in 2006 by the former Railion Deutschland AG (now DB Schenker Rail). The station is located on the Ruhr Valley Railway and the Elberfeld–Dortmund line. The station was opened on the 9 March 1849 as Herdecke station and successively renamed as Herdecke Süd, Herdecke-Vorhalle and Vorhalle. It was renamed as Hagen-Vorhalle in the early 1950s.

The Mahnmal Bittermark is a memorial place in Bittermark, a borough in the city of Dortmund, Germany.The place commemorates about 300 people killed by the Gestapo in Bittermark city forest and in the Rombergpark between March 7 and April 12, 1945. The people killed were forced laborers from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Poland and the Soviet Union, members of the German resistance, as well as ordinary people whose careless utterance was judged to be "the dissemination of the opinion about the futility of the war and the insult of Hitler". The bodies were exhumed on April 19–21, 1945, six days after the US army had taken Dortmund. In 1953 the city of Dortmund approved plans of constructing a memorial place for the victims. Works began in 1955 and were finished in 1960.

Dortmund-Löttringhausen station is on the former Rhenish Railway Company in the suburb of Löttringhausen in the Dortmund district of Hombruch in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

St. Patrokli is a Catholic church ad parish Kirchhörde, a Stadtteil of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. The parish also has churches in St. Clemens in Hombruch, St. Franziskus Xaverius in Barop, Maria Königin in Eichlinghofen and Heilige Familie in Brünninghausen.
