St Mary the Virgin's Church, South Darley

South Darley is a civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales. It is a largely rural parish and covers the villages of Darley Bridge, Wensley and the hamlets of Oker and Snitterton. South Darley lies west of Matlock and east of Winster. The River Derwent forms the north-eastern boundary of South Darley parish with Darley Dale parish on the other bank. About two thirds of the parish lies within the Peak District. South Darley Village Hall is located in the Cross Green area of Darley Bridge and was opened in 1932. It stands next to South Darley Church of England Primary School and opposite Cross Green Plantation.The parish contains a Grade-II listed church, St Mary the Virgin.

Darley Bridge is a village in Derbyshire, located in South Darley parish in the Derbyshire Dales, bordering the Peak District. The village lies at the bottom of the hill below Wensley where the road crosses the River Derwent. A grade II* listed stone bridge spans the river and links the village with Darley Dale. Close to the bridge, the road winds between terraced stone houses in the oldest part of the village. The only public house in the parish, The Three Stags Heads, is in this area. The village extends back up the hill with more recent houses, including a substantial line of semi-detached properties and Ivonbrook care home. Wensley is a small village in South Darley parish in Derbyshire of limestone and gritstone properties mainly arranged along the single road which zig-zags through the village or around the square. The whole village, together with part of the adjacent Wensley Dale is a Conservation Area. Until fairly recently there was a Methodist Chapel, a village shop and two public houses, but these have all closed. The former school is now a village hall, Wensley Reading Room. Quite a few of the houses are holiday lets. Station Road is a cricket ground in Darley Dale, Derbyshire, England, which has hosted only one top-class match: the 1975 John Player League match between Derbyshire and Hampshire. The away side won by 70 runs thanks to fifties from Barry Richards and Gordon Greenidge, and Thomas Mottram and John Rice taking five and four wickets respectively.

Peak Rail is a preserved railway in Derbyshire, England, which operates a steam and heritage diesel service for tourists and visitors to both the Peak District and the Derbyshire Dales. The preserved railway line is over 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) in length and, as of April 2016, operates train services from Matlock station (shared with Derwent Valley Line services from Derby via Ambergate) via the site of Matlock Riverside and Darley Dale to Rowsley South. Peak Rail intends to extend its operational services northward to Bakewell when resources allow, extending to a total of 4¼ miles (6.8 km). Beyond Bakewell, the railway trackbed is used by the Monsal Trail.

Oker is a hamlet in Derbyshire, located in South Darley parish, with groups of houses along two sides of Oker Hill. The houses are largely older limestone properties including several farms, but with some more recent semi-detached properties too. Old Millclose Mine was a lead mine near Wensley, in Derbyshire, England. The engine house of the mine survives as a ruin; it is a scheduled monument.

The Whitworth Institute is a Grade II listed building in Darley Dale, Derbyshire.It was funded by the estate of the late Sir Joseph Whitworth who lived in nearby Stancliffe Hall. The building is constructed of Staincliffe stone with green Westmorland slate. By the end of May 1890 the builders had finished work, and the joiners had moved into the interior. The building cost about £15,000 (equivalent to £1,760,000 in 2021). and although completed by September 1890, was not formally opened until May 1891. It contained a large reading room, a billiard room, a smoke room and playroom on the east side, a small reading room on the west and a swimming bath 54 feet (16 m) by 22 feet (6.7 m). Upstairs there were two further reading rooms, and a large hall 60 feet (18 m) long and 30 feet (9.1 m) wide capable of seating 200 people.The Whitworth Institute was given to the people of Darley Dale and in 2009/10 underwent a £1.7m renovation to ensure its continued use for future generations.
