Nine Mile Falls, Washington

Nine Mile Falls Dam is a dam on the Spokane River, in the unincorporated community of Nine Mile Falls, Washington. It was built on the site of the falls in 1908, creating Nine Mile Reservoir. The dam was designed by the New York engineering firm of Sanderson & Porter, and originally constructed to satisfy the power needs of the Spokane and Inland Empire Railroad interurban trolley lines.Washington Water Power (now the power company Avista) purchased the site in 1925, and continues to operate it as one of its six hydroelectric generating plants on the Spokane River. The 58-foot-high cyclopean masonry dam and its powerhouse, storehouse, ten cottages and other structures were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Deep Creek is a stream of approximately 23 miles which is formed at the confluence of the North Fork Deep Creek and South Fork Deep Creek two miles southwest of the community of Deep Creek, Washington on the far western edge of Spokane County. The creek has its mouth at the Spokane River in Riverside State Park where it cuts a thin canyon through basalt with depths reaching over 600 feet from the land above. The creek and its tributaries flow through mostly rural agricultural areas west of the Spokane urban area, though the headwaters and mouth are both located on state-owned conservation land.

Spokane House was a fur-trading post founded in 1810 by the British-Canadian North West Company, located on a peninsula where the Spokane River and Little Spokane River meet. When established, the North West Company's farthest outpost in the Columbia River region was the first ever non-Indigenous settlement in the Pacific Northwest (South of present-day 49 degree latitude border). An American rival of the NWC, the Pacific Fur Company opened a station adjacent to Spokane House, called Fort Spokane. The War of 1812 and ongoing supply issues caused the collapse of the PFC, with its posts now under the control of the NWC. The original Spokane House was abandoned in favor of Fort Spokane, though the latter location was still called Spokane House. The second Spokane House saw use as a major post in the interior Oregon Country until the NWC was absorbed by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1821. During a general tour of the Pacific Northwest, Spokane House was abandoned by George Simpson in 1825, in favor of a new post that became Fort Colvile. The site of Spokane House is in Spokane County in the U.S. state of Washington, just northwest of the city of Spokane.

Riverside State Park is a Washington state park located 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Spokane in the community of Nine Mile Falls. The park protects 11,162 acres (4,517 ha) of Okanagan dry forest along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers. It is the second largest state park in Washington after Mount Spokane State Park and is a popular recreation area for locals.

Suncrest is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stevens County, Washington, United States. Though it is not incorporated as a city or town, the CDP's population of 5,413 at the 2020 census makes Suncrest the largest community in the county. The community is located along the Spokane River 9.7 miles northwest of the city of Spokane, of which it is a exurb and bedroom community. The community experienced substantial growth starting in the mid-1980s, with gated community and suburban style development. State Route 291 is the main thoroughfare through Suncrest, as well as its main connection to the surrounding area including Spokane.

KSFC (91.9 FM) in Spokane, Washington, is one of the three non-profit radio stations run by the Spokane Public Radio organization, along with 91.1 KPBX-FM and 90.3 KPBZ. KSFC broadcasts with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 2,200 watts. It also has an FM translator in Coeur d'Alene, K262CR at 100.3 MHz, and a full-powered FM repeater in Saint Maries, KXJO at 92.1 MHz. KSFC has a format of news and information programming, much of it from National Public Radio (NPR). It carries some of the same shows as 91.1 KPBX-FM, such as "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered." But in middays and evenings when KPBX-FM is airing classical music or jazz, KSFC stays with talk programs. It airs "All Things Considered" at an early time than KPBX-FM.

KPBZ (90.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to Spokane, Washington, United States. The station is one of three owned by Spokane Public Radio, the others being KPBX and KSFC. Programming consists entirely of PRX Remix, an internet-delivered format offered by Public Radio Exchange.

North Indian Trail is a neighborhood in the northwesternmost corner of Spokane, Washington. It extends to the northwest of the rest of Spokane along a tableland east of the Spokane River, west of the Five Mile Prairie. Its terrain isolates the neighborhood somewhat, and it was only extensively developed starting in the second half of the 20th century.

Saint George's School is an independent K-12 college preparatory school located in Spokane, Washington. The campus is located on 120 acres (0.49 km2) along the Little Spokane River. Saint George's mission statement is "Inspiring scholars, athletes, and artists to serve and lead others."

The Great Northern School District No. 312 is a school district in Spokane County, Washington, United States. It covers a rural unincorporated area between Airway Heights and Spokane and has a single school, named Great Northern Elementary, that serves grades kindergarten to six. The district was named for the Great Northern Railway, which donated the land on which the district's single school sits. The first school at the site was built in 1894 and replaced by a larger three-room building, which opened in 1914.

Balboa/South Indian Trail is a neighborhood in Spokane, Washington located on the northwestern side of the city. The neighborhood is largely composed of single-family residential areas that were developed after being annexed into the city in the 1950s. The neighborhood is situated on tableland above a steep bluff rising from the Spokane River to the west, that then rises up a more developed bluff towards Five Mile Prairie which is located above the neighborhood to the north and east.
