Salem Chapel, Robertstown

The Iron Tram Bridge, Robertstown is an early example of a "railway" bridge. It crosses the River Cynon between Trecynon and Robertstown. It carried the Llwydcoed Tramroad (4 feet 2 inches (1.27 m) gauge) which ran from Hirwaun to the canal head at Cwmbach, south east of Aberdare. It was built by the Aberdare Canal & Navigation Company in 1811, and probably designed by George Overton.Little remains of the tramroad but its route is now a footpath. The bridge is a scheduled monument and a Grade II listed building.The bridge was declared unsafe and has now been completely removed. Ysguborwen is a 19th-century house in Aberdare, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Ysguborwen was built by Samuel Thomas, one of the pioneers of the Welsh coal trade.Although the Thomas family had held land in the area since at least 1477, Ysguborwen house was built between 1852 and 1855. It was here in 1856 that David Alfred Thomas, first Viscount Rhondda, was born. The South Wales Daily News described the house as, "A tasteful and imposing building." Although early profiles of D. A. Thomas describe him as 'of Ysguborwen,' D. A. Thomas actually resided at Llanwern, outside Newport, the house at Ysguborwen being occupied by his brother, J. H. Thomas. The house is today a nursing home.

Gadlys Chapel was a Baptist chapel in Railway Street, Gadlys, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It was formed as a branch of Calfaria, Aberdare.

Carmel, Trecynon was a Calvinistic Methodist chapel located in Hirwaun Road, Trecynon, directly opposite the public park at Aberdare, Wales. Services at Carmel were conducted in the Welsh language, and the history of Carmel involves much more than the history of the building alone. Carmel was the first Calvinistic Methodist chapel to be established in the Aberdare district, and is considered the mother church of all Methodist chapels in the Cynon Valley. It remained an active church until the end of the twentieth century, but its decline mirrored that of the Welsh language in the area over the decades.

Siloh, Trecynon was an Independent (Congregationalist) chapel in Mount Pleasant, Trecynon, Aberdare, Wales.

Siloa Chapel was the largest of the Welsh Independent, or Congregationalist, chapels in Aberdare. Services are held in the Welsh language. Established in 1844, Siloa is one of the few Welsh-language chapels in the locality to remain open today. Siloa was notable for its long-serving ministers and in over a century there were only three pastorates, namely those of David Price (1843–1878), D. Silyn Evans (1880–1930) and R. Ifor Parry (1933–1964).

St Elvan's Church is a Grade II* listed Anglican church in the centre of the town of Aberdare. It was built in 1851–1852, largely at the instigation of John Griffith, vicar of Aberdare from 1847 until 1859.On 11 December 1849 Griffith wrote at length to the Incorporated Church Building Society in relation to the position of the Church of England in the parish of Aberdare. The population of the parish was close to 14,000 people and increasing at a rate of approximately a thousand each year, yet the ancient parish church of St John's could accommodate fewer than two hundred people.

Hen-Dy-Cwrdd (The Old Meeting Place) is a disused Unitarian chapel in Trecynon, Aberdare, Wales. Services at the chapel were conducted in the Welsh language.
