Burton Latimer

Burton Latimer Hall is an Elizabethan manor house in the village of Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire. It is a Grade I listed building.The Hall, probably of medieval origin, was remodelled and enlarged in the early 17th century. The west front dates from the mid-18th century and the south wing from 1872. It is built of coursed limestone rubble with an ashlar west front and a Collyweston stone slate roof. In plan it consists of a main block with two cross-wings and an additional wing to the south. The manor of Burton Latimer, one of two Burton manors, belonged in earlier times to the Latimer family. After passing into the hands of the Bacon family the 17th-century refurbishment was carried out by Edmund Bacon c.1620. The Lordship was eventually bought in 1760 by John Harpur, who soon afterwards combined it with the other Burton manor. The Hall and its surrounding estate have belonged to the Harpur family ever since. In the grounds stand a Grade II* listed dovecote and a Grade II listed stable block.

They are currently members of the National League North, the sixth tier of English football, and play at Latimer Park in Burton Latimer. Kettering were the first club to wear sponsorship on their shirts in 1976.

Isham and Burton Latimer railway station was built by the Midland Railway in 1857 to serve the villages of Isham and Burton Latimer on its extension from Leicester to Bedford and Hitchin. It closed in 1950 and the building has since been converted into a house. Slightly north of it was a branch line which ran until 1959 to Thrapston and Huntingdon.

Barton Seagrave is a large village and civil parish in the North Northamptonshire, England. The village is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south-east of Kettering, town centre. The older part of the village is known for its Norman Church and attractive buildings. The villages name means 'barley farm'. 'Seagrave' was added after the manor passed to Stephen de Segrave in 1220.

Finedon railway station was built by the Midland Railway in 1857 on its extension from Leicester to Bedford and Hitchin. It had one island platform. Being a mile and a half from Finedon village it was little used in later years and closed to passengers in 1940. It remained open for goods until 1964 and had quite large sidings for the local stone, with a tramway to the Excelsior and the Finedon Hill mines.

The Latimer Arts College (formerly Latimer Community Arts College) is a foundation secondary school and specialist arts college located in Barton Seagrave, Northamptonshire, England, teaching students aged 11 to 18. The school has approximately 1020 students. The most recent Ofsted inspection from February 2018 judged Latimer as remaining Good. The school is also home to The Masque Theatre which is used by both the school and the community, and includes a recording studio and conference and meeting rooms.

Southfield Farm Marsh is an 8.6-hectare (21-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Kettering in Northamptonshire. An area of 2.8 hectares is managed as a nature reserve by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.The wetland has tall plants such as lesser pond-sedge and slender tufted-sedge, which provides cover for reed buntings and sedge warblers. Mammals include otters, and there are birds such as red kites and buzzards. Purple loosestrife is found in grassland areas.There is access to the nature reserve by a footpath from Polwell Lane, but the rest of the site is private land with no public access.

Isham is a village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England. It is on the A509 road, three miles south of Kettering and a mile to the west of Burton Latimer. The River Ise is to the east of the village. Administratively, it forms part of North Northamptonshire. It was previously in the Borough of Wellingborough until 2021. At the time of the 2011 census, the parish's population was 772 people.The villages name means 'River Ise homestead/village'.A bypass west of the village is planned by the county council. HMS Isham, a Ham class minesweeper was named after the village in 1954.

Burton Wold Wind Farm is a wind farm located near Burton Latimer in the English county of Northamptonshire, UK. The farm was developed by Your Energy Ltd, is owned by Mistral Windfarms and operated by Engineering Renewables Ltd. E.ON UK is buying the electricity output of the project under a long-term power purchase agreement. The farm is spread over three hectares. It has an installed capacity of 20 MW and generate on average around 40,000,000 units (kilowatt hours) of electricity annually.Burton Wold was the first wind farm to be erected in Northamptonshire. Construction work on the site began in December 2005, and the wind farm became operational in May 2006. The wind farm received a mention in the 2008 Civic Trust Awards and was shortlisted in the MKSM Excellence Awards in 2009.

Barton Hall Hotel in Barton Seagrave near Kettering is a building of historical significance and is listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built in about 1550 and was the home of many notable residents over the next five centuries. Today it is a hotel which provides accommodation, restaurant facilities and caters for special events.
