Old Bridge Township is a township in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located in the Raritan Valley region and within the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township was the state's 21st-most-populous municipality, with a population of 66,876, an increase of 1,501 (+2.3%) from the 2010 census count of 65,375, which in turn reflected an increase of 4,919 (+8.1%) from the 60,456 counted in the 2000 census. As of the 2010 Census, the township was ranked 18th in the state by population, after being the state's 21st most-populous municipality in 2000. Old Bridge is a bedroom suburb of New York City located across the Raritan Bay from Staten Island, and it is about 25 miles (40 km) from Manhattan, and about 30 miles (48 km) south of Newark.What is now Old Bridge Township was originally incorporated as Madison Township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 2, 1869, from portions of South Amboy Township (now City of South Amboy). In a referendum held on November 5, 1975, voters approved changing the township's name to Old Bridge Township by a margin of 7,150 votes to 4,888. The township's name was changed to avoid confusion with the borough of Madison in Morris County. After the township was established, the area was made up primarily of farms and the population grew slowly. In 1880, the population was 1,662 and in 1950 it had reached 7,365. Over the next decade, a building boom started and farms gave way to developments, and the population grew to 22,772 by 1960. The 1980 census cited 51,406 people. The township saw major changes with the extension of Route 18 to the shore. The township was named as a contender for the title of one of the best places to live in the United States by Money magazine in both 2005 and 2007.In 2016, SafeWise named Old Bridge Township as the sixth-safest city in America to raise a child; the township was the second-highest ranked of the 12 communities in New Jersey included on the list.

Birch Hill Nightclub was a music venue and nightclub in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. The venue ran into trouble in 2000 after an accidental drowning and drug raids, along with a loss of their liquor license. Birch Hill was sold in 2003 and is now a housing development. Many big-name bands played the venue, including Gov't Mule, Dio, Scorpions, Hoobastank, Blue Öyster Cult, Cheap Trick, UFO, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Eve 6, Toadies, Sudzert and Slayer.

Jukebox Radio was a network of FM radio stations based in Dumont, New Jersey from 1993 to 2003 with the callsign W276AQ on 103.1 FM. In addition, "Jukebox radio" was heard on a full–power class A FM station, WJUX-FM 99.7 from Monticello, New York from 1995 until 2004. These two stations simulcast during that time period. In addition, 94.3 FM also simulcast Jukebox Radio from Rockland County, New York from 1996 to 2003. "Jukebox Radio" originally played Traditional Big Band Music in 1993, then evolved to more of an adult standards format by 1995. "Jukebox Radio" changed to oldies in 1997, then switched back to Adult Standards, but emphasizing more baby boomer pop in 2000. Due to legal issues, Jukebox Radio was forced to sell the stations in 2002. Today, a Christian teaching/preaching/praise & worship music format called "The Bridge" (WRDR) occupies the frequencies.

Cheesequake is an unincorporated community located within Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Cheesequake is located along Route 34, south of Cheesequake State Park.The community's name has been said to be derived from the Lenni Lenape word Cheseh-oh-ke, meaning "upland" or from the word chiskhakink or chickhake, meaning "land that has been cleared."

Old Bridge High School (formed from combining the former Cedar Ridge and Madison Central high schools) is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Old Bridge Township Public Schools. The school is located on County Route 516 in Old Bridge Township, however, it is assigned a Matawan mailing address. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1970.Through partnerships with Fairleigh Dickinson University and Middlesex County College, students can take college courses for credit in both high school and college.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,711 students and 203.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.4:1. There were 314 students (11.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 77 (2.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch. Based on 2021-22 data from the New Jersey Department of Education, it was the fifth-largest high school in the state and one of 29 schools with more than 2,000 students.The school operates from 7:35 A.M. to 2:06 P.M. and runs on a 6-period schedule using block scheduling.

The Cedar Grove School is a historic one-room schoolhouse located at 4216 County Route 516 in Old Bridge Township of Middlesex County, New Jersey. Built in 1885, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 24, 1976 for its significance in education and community history. Since 1964, the building has been the Thomas Warne Museum, run by the Madison–Old Bridge Township Historical Society.

Madison Central High School is a defunct public high school in Old Bridge Township, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, that opened in 1962 and closed in June 1994. Increasing numbers of students from Old Bridge attending Matawan High School led to double sessions in the 1960-61 school year, with the prospect of triple sessions being necessary as the growing number of students being sent from Old Bridge could swell enrollment even further beyond capacity. The school opened in 1962 as Madison Township High School, serving freshman and sophomores, while those in their junior and senior years continued to attend East Brunswick High School, Keyport High School, Matawan High School or South River High School as part of sending/receiving relationships. Cedar Ridge High School opened in 1968 to help alleviate overcrowding at Madison Central. Old Bridge High School opened in September 1994 and was formed from the merger of Cedar Ridge and Madison Central, which were the two existing high schools in Old Bridge Township.The school had an enrollment of 1,210 in the 1990-1991 school year, slightly larger than the student body at Cedar Ridge.

Sayerwood South or Sayrewood South is an unincorporated community located within Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

The Burnt Fly Bog Superfund Site is located in Marlboro Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Contamination began in the 1950s and 1960s. It was used as a dumping ground for hazardous chemicals and oils. This site was used to reprocess or recycle oil, and it was also used as a landfill during the 1950s. The contamination affected the surface water and soil. The EPA got involved in the 1980s and addressed the situation. Human health concerns were a main part of the EPA getting involved because residents lived only about 1,000 to 2,000 feet around the site. Major components of the remedy included excavation and off-site disposal of contaminated soil from Northerly Wetlands, Tar Patch Area. The back filling of the areas addressed, monitoring of the surface water and sediments, and biological sampling in the Westerly Wetlands. The current status of the site is complete. The remedial stages were completed in the late 1990s and a five-year monitoring of the surface water was completed around 2004.

Raritan Bay Medical Center (RBMC) consists of two general acute care hospitals, located within the heart of the Raritan Valley region, servicing the Raritan Bayshore communities in Middlesex and Monmouth counties. The hospitals are located in Old Bridge (113 bed) and Perth Amboy (365 bed); both are non-profit, academic medical centers servicing the Central Jersey area. RBMC is a part of the Hackensack Meridian Healthcare network.
