Mars Hill High School

Meares Stadium is a 5,000-capacity stadium located in Mars Hill, North Carolina where it serves as home to the Mars Hill College Lions. Meares Stadium has gained a reputation as a tough place to play due to its location in the windy North Carolina mountains. Winds can get high enough to easily throw a ball around, and even make it tough on smaller athletes. In 2007, the college began a reconstruction project at Meares Stadium, which will be completed by the 2007 football season. When completed, the facility will have a new pressbox, permanent visitor's bleachers, and a reconstructed set of main stands. Additionally, the current grass surface will be replaced with FieldTurf.

Mars Hill is a town in Madison County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census, and was estimated at 2,032 in 2018 by the U.S. Census. It is the home of Mars Hill University, the name of which was inspired by Acts 17:22. The town is located 15 miles (24 km) due north of Asheville. Interstate 26 passes one mile east of the town. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

From 1859 to 2013 the school was called Mars Hill College; in August 2013 it officially changed its name to Mars Hill University.

A portion of Forks of Ivy extends into Madison County as it is situated on the county line on Ivy Creek. Forks of Ivy is named for the fact that it is near the junction of Ivy and Little Ivy Creeks.The elevation is 1,978 feet.

California Creek Missionary Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church located near Mars Hill, Madison County, North Carolina. It was built in 1917, and moved to its present location in 1937. It is a Gothic Revival style white frame church with Colonial Revival style decorative elements. It has a cruciform plan and paired principal entrances in corner towers on the front facade. A two-story, brick Sunday School annex was built in 1954. The church was sold to private owners in the late-1970s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Carter–Swain House is a historic home located near Democrat, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The original section was built about 1849, and is a two-story, log house measuring 15 feet by 17 feet. It was later expanded, and is a two-story weatherboarded structure with two-tiered porches and a rear ell. Also on the property is a contributing four-pen log barn. The house functioned as a roadside inn during the late-19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Laurel Creek Gorge Bridge is a continuous steel plate girder bridge that spans Laurel Creek on Interstate 26/U.S. Route 19/U.S. Route 23 between Asheville, North Carolina and Johnson City, Tennessee. It is the second tallest bridge in North Carolina—after the Peter Guice Memorial Bridge—with a deck height of 220 ft (67 m). Construction of the bridge was finished in 2002. Due to its proximity to the higher mountains and its elevation of over 3000', the highway in this area is subject to heavy snow and icing. The bridge design incorporates a special system which sprays de-icing liquid onto the bridge deck whenever icing is detected.The section of I-26 from U.S. Route 19 to the border with Tennessee was designated a scenic highway by the North Carolina Board of Transportation.
