WTVI (channel 42) is a PBS member television station in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, owned by Central Piedmont Community College. The station's studios are located in the Chantilly-Commonwealth section of east Charlotte, and its transmitter is located in the unincorporated area of Newell in northeastern Mecklenburg County (just northeast of the Charlotte city limits). It is the only public television station in North Carolina that is not operated by PBS North Carolina, and is one of three PBS member stations serving the Charlotte metropolitan area, along with PBS North Carolina's WUNG-TV (channel 58) in Concord and South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV)'s WNSC-TV (channel 30) in Rock Hill.

WRFX (99.7 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Kannapolis, North Carolina and serving the Charlotte metropolitan area. Owned by iHeartMedia, it airs a classic rock radio format, and calls itself "99.7 The Fox." The radio studios and offices are on Woodridge Center Drive in South Charlotte. WRFX is the flagship station for the John Boy and Billy Big Show, a nationally syndicated morning show heard around the country. WRFX has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts. The transmitter is off Caldwell Road in Charlotte. WRFX broadcasts using HD Radio technology; its digital subchannel carries the all news Black Information Network, which feeds FM translator W254AZ (98.7 MHz) in Belmont.

Eugene Wilson Hodges Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses four contributing buildings, one contributing site, and five contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The Eugene Wilson Hodges House was built about 1908, and is a two-story, three-bay I-house with two parallel one-story rear ells. It has a slate triple-A roof and two exterior, stuccoed-brick chimneys. It features a vernacular Colonial Revival hip roofed wraparound front porch with Doric order columns. Other contributing resources include two chicken coops (c. 1930), a wellhouse (c. 1908), barn (c. 1935), two granaries (c. 1930), two silos (c. 1935), and the agricultural landscape.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Reedy Creek Park is a 125-acre (51 ha) urban park at 2900 Rocky River Road in the Newell section of Charlotte, North Carolina. Adjacent to the park is a 737 acre nature preserve. The main park contains courts and fields for basketball, softball, tennis, soccer, horseshoes, cricket, and volleyball. There are indoor and outdoor picnic facilities, extensive benches, playgrounds, a disc golf course, a dog park, a community garden, several ponds, and a lakeside fishing pier. Reedy Creek Park is the home of the Charlotte based South Park Cricket Club.The ruins of the John Robinson Rockhouse, a revolutionary era structure dating from the 1780s, lies deep within Reedy Creek Park, and can be reached by one of the popular trails leading through the nature preserve. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Robinson Rock House Ruin and Plantation Site, also known as Site 31MK272, is a historic archaeological site located in Reedy Creek Park at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is the remnants of an 18th-century stone dwelling of the Colonial period. The Robinson Stone House was probably built between 1780 and 1810. In September, 1979, the site was acquired by the City of Charlotte to be incorporated into a new park and nature preserve.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Keith Lamont Scott, a 43-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot on September 20, 2016, in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Brentley Vinson, an African-American city police officer. It sparked both peaceful and violent protests led by Black Lives Matter in Charlotte. The shooting prompted investigations by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Justice. As is customary for the department, Vinson was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. In November 2016, county prosecutors decided not to charge Vinson, concluding that the shooting was justified.

WSOC-FM (103.7 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is owned by Beasley Broadcast Group and airs a country music radio format, calling itself "Country 103.7". Its primary country competitor is iHeartMedia's WKKT. WSOC-FM's studios are located on South Boulevard in Charlotte's South End and the transmitter is located in East Charlotte near Reedy Creek Park. WSOC shares its call sign with previously co-owned WSOC-TV, Charlotte's ABC network affiliate.

WKQC (104.7 FM) is a commercial radio station in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is owned by the Beasley Broadcast Group and airs a gold-based, 1980s-centric adult contemporary radio format. For most of November and December, it switches to all-Christmas music. WKQC's studios are located on South Boulevard in Charlotte. WKQC has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the maximum for most FM stations in the U.S. The transmitter site is in East Charlotte, off Hood Road. It broadcasts in the HD Radio format. The HD2 digital subchannel carries sports radio programming from the Fox Sports Radio Network. The station receives co-channel interference from WNOK in Columbia, South Carolina, just 75 miles south of Charlotte. The Chester and Lancaster, South Carolina areas are affected the most with interference from both stations. Both WKQC and WNOK use directional antennas. Despite this, the stations' overlap causes listener problems in areas of Northern South Carolina, and closer to Charlotte on some summer days when tropospheric interference is strong.

The Charlotte Research Institute (CRI) is a partnership between the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and corporations in the region. The goal of CRI is to develop technology-based academic and business partnerships, ranging from consultation to onsite collaborative research. The institute's support of education and research includes its three centers: eBusiness, Optoelectronics and Optical Communications, and Precision Metrology. The CRI is located on UNC Charlotte's Millennial Campus.

The Cyrillic Projector is a sculpture created by American artist Jim Sanborn in the early 1990s, and purchased by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997. It is currently installed between the campus's Friday and Fretwell Buildings.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Botanical Gardens, sometimes called the Charlotte Botanical Gardens, are botanical gardens located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Major collections within the gardens are as follows: McMillan Greenhouse (4000 square feet) - five environments: American and African deserts; orchids, bromeliads, ferns, African violet relatives, and other tropical plants; Cymbidium and Dendrobium orchids; carnivorous pitcher plants, sundews, and Venus Flytraps native to the southeastern United States; tropical regions of both the Old and New Worlds. Carnivorous Plants - including an extensive collection of Sarracenia Orchids - collection includes Brassavola, Bulbophyllum, Catasetum, Cattleya, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Epidendrum, Phragmipedium, Peristeria, and Phalaenopsis. Ralph Van Landingham Glen - Begun in 1966, the Glen now contains a major collection (3500 plants) of rhododendron and azalea shrubs, as well as more than 900 species of indigenous trees, shrubs, and wildflowers, and more than 50 species of wild ferns. Susie Harwood Garden (3 acres) - collections of dwarf conifers, Japanese maples, viburnum, and azaleas, plus other trees, shrubs, vines, annuals, perennials, bulbs, succulents, and water plants from around the world, with an Asian-style gazebo, arched bridges, and a moon gate. Dinosaur's Garden - primitive plants surrounding a full-size Deinonychus skeleton sculpture.The Botanical Gardens also serve as the final resting place of UNC Charlotte founder Bonnie Cone.

White Oak Plantation, also known as the William Johnston House, is a historic plantation house located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built about 1792, and is a two-story, Catawba River Valley School style brick dwelling. The original Quaker plan interior has been converted to a center hall plan. It has a gable roof overhang and a full-width, two-story gabled porch. It was built by William Johnston, a captain in the North Carolina militia at the Battle of King's Mountain in 1780.The plantation was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
