Assassination of Olof Palme

Tunnelgatan (Tunnel Street) is a street in Stockholm, Sweden, which stretches from Sveavägen to the Brunkeberg Tunnel. Tunnelgatan was named after the Brunkeberg tunnel which opened in 1886. The previous name was Barnhus trädgårdsgata (Orphanage garden street), after the orphanage at Norra Bantorget. During the 17th century, there was a ropewalk at the place. The only remaining residential building in the street is located at the crossing of Tunnelgatan and Luntmakargatan and was built between 1894 and 1896. Tunnelgatan is associated with the murder of Olof Palme, which occurred near the tunnel mouth on Sveavägen street, and the killer fled up the stairs. A section of the street has since been renamed as Olof Palmes gata. The City Plan 67 intended to expand Tunnelgatan to a six-lane urban highway with continuation through David Bagares gata to Stureplan, and further through Humlegårdsgatan to Norra Djurgården. In the west, a connection to Klarastrandsleden via a bridge over the tracks north of Stockholm Central Station was planned. However the plans were shelved indefinitely when the 1977 City Plan was formulated.

Kungsgatan (Swedish for "King's Street") is a street address in central Stockholm. It was formerly a red-light district and is currently a busy shopping street.At its western end it is connected to Kungsholmen by Kungsbron bridge, from where it stretches east to Stureplan public square. It is intercepted by the streets Vasagatan, Drottninggatan, and Sveavägen. Two streets pass over it: Malmskillnadsgatan on Malmskillnadsbron bridge and Regeringsgatan on the Bridge of Regeringsgatan. Kungsgatan passes by Hötorget public square where Stockholm Concert Hall is located. It is also flanked by two buildings, the Kungstorn (King's towers), each about 60 metres tall. Kungsgatan was dug through the Brunkebergsåsen esker (a natural ridge) in the early 20th century and inaugurated in 1911. Today it is a lively shopping street flanked by cinemas, cafés, and other shopping facilities. Hötorget station, on the Green line of the Stockholm metro, is located at the intersection where Kungsgatan crosses Sveavägen. Between its opening in 1952 and 1957, the station was named Kungsgatan.

The Stockholm Concert Hall (Swedish: Stockholms konserthus) is the main hall for orchestral music in Stockholm, Sweden. With a design by Ivar Tengbom chosen in competition, inaugurated in 1926, the Hall is home to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. It is also where the awarding ceremonies for the Nobel Prize and the Polar Music Prize are held annually. The interior includes work by Ewald Dahlskog, and the walls and ceiling in the minor hall, now known as Grünewald Hall, were painted by Isaac Grünewald. The exterior is the site of sculptor Carl Milles' 1936 bronze fountain, the Orfeus-brunnen ("the Orpheus Well"). The blue building lies to the east of Hötorget. Many pop and rock concerts by famous artists have taken place at the Stockholm Concert Hall.Construction of the concert hall was funded in part by a testamentary donation from Rosa Nachmanson.

The Brunkeberg Tunnel in Norrmalm, Stockholm, is a 231-metre-long passageway for pedestrians through the esker Brunkebergsåsen. The tunnel was inaugurated in 1886 by King Oscar II.

Brunkebergsåsen was an esker that once reached over much of Stockholm's Norrmalm district. Geologically, it is a part of the much larger Stockholmsåsen. It formed a considerable obstacle to traffic, effectively dividing Norrmalm into a western and an eastern part. Consequently, most of it has been dug away over the centuries to make room for the development of that district. The pedestrian tunnel Brunkebergstunneln and, since the 1910s, the eastern part of Kungsgatan cut through Brunkebergsåsen's southern part. Conspicuous remnants of the esker can be seen in the vicinity of Johannes kyrka, at Observatorielunden, and Vanadislunden.

Hötorget, formerly known as Kungsgatan, is an underground station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. It is situated near to the Hötorget square in the borough of Norrmalm in central Stockholm, and lies below Sveavägen between its junctions with Oxtorgsgatan and Apelbergsgatan. The station has three entrances, one at each end and one in the middle from Kungsgatan. The central entrance includes an underground square with several shops and stores. The distance to Slussen is 1.5 km (0.93 mi).The station was inaugurated on 26 October 1952 as the east terminus of the stretch between Hötorget and Vällingby. The line was extended to Slussen on 24 November 1957, thereby connecting west and east sections of the green line. It was called Kungsgatan until 1957. The name was changed to Hötorget when the southern and western tracks were joined as one (by the opening of the stations T-centralen and Gamla Stan through the central city). The station's original 1950s signage and decor have been deliberately retained. As part of Art in the Stockholm metro project, 103 white neon strips have been installed in the platform ceiling. These were executed by Gun Gordillo and date from 1998.

Franska Skolan (English: French School) is a private school located in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1862. French school (French: École Française) is a school located on Döbelnsgatan 9 in Stockholm, founded in 1862 originally as a girls' school of the Roman Catholic religious congregation Sisters of St. Joseph from France. The school follows the Swedish system of education, but all the students study French. The school's students are mainly Swedish children, but also francophone students study there. The current head principal is Björn Kullgard.

The Hötorget buildings (Swedish: Hötorgshusen or Hötorgsskraporna, "-scrapers") are five high-rise office buildings in Stockholm, Sweden. Located between the squares Hötorget and Sergels Torg in the central Norrmalm district, they stand 72 meters tall and are a clearly visible landmark.

PUB was one of the major department stores in Stockholm, Sweden, located in two buildings at Hötorget, Stockholm city center. PUB was opened in 1882 and rapidly expanded. The name PUB is for the initials of Paul Urbanus Bergström, the founder of the store, who owned a great deal of buildings and business in the area. In the late 20th century, the upper 4 storeys of the department store were converted into a hotel: the Rica Hotel Kungsgatan, later the Scandic Hotel Kungsgatan. In 2015, plans were announced to close the last remaining portion of the store and convert the entire building to the Scandic Hotel Haymarket.

Adolf Fredrik Church (Swedish: Adolf Fredriks kyrka) is a church in central Stockholm, Sweden, named after Adolf Frederick. It was built in 1768–1774, replacing a wooden chapel from 1674, which was dedicated to Saint Olof. It was opened on 27 November 1774.Its cemetery is where René Descartes was first buried in 1650, before his remains were moved to France. Inside the church a memorial to the memory of Descartes was installed by Gustav III. Other famous people buried in the church cemetery include Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, who was assassinated only a block from the church, Prime Minister Hjalmar Branting, physicist Carl Benedicks, and the composer Anders Eliasson. The church is currently headed by pastor Ted Harris.

Kungstornen (King's Towers) are twin tower skyscrapers, individually named Norra Kungstornet (Northern King's Tower) and Södra Kungstornet (Southern King's Tower), in Norrmalm, Stockholm. The 16-storey Norra Kungstornet is 60 m (200 ft) and was built between 1919 and 1924; and the taller 17-storey, 61 m (200 ft) Södra Kungstornet was built between 1924 and 1925. Together, they are considered the first modern skyscrapers in Europe.The tower pair marks a slight bend in the street, one block east of Hötorget, where it is crossed by the 16 m (52 ft) Malmskillnadsbron, a bridge in the course of Malmskillnadsgatan, to which they are adjacent. They are 16 m (52 ft) and of similar, but not identical, exterior design. Their construction was inspired by American models, particularly the architecture of Lower Manhattan of the time. The north tower was designed by Sven Wallander who also authored the 1919 master plan for Kungsgatan; the southern tower was designed by Ivar Callmander.
