Noah Edward Edgerton House

Richard B. Harrison School is a historic school complex located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. The complex consists of an agricultural building constructed in 1953 with a 1965 bricklaying shop addition; a gymnasium and classroom building built in 1955; a pump house (c. 1955); and the 1956 elementary school classroom building. Also on the property is a contributing baseball field (c. 1950). The school buildings are all one-story, Modern Movement brick veneer buildings. The complex served the African-American students of Johnston County until the system was integrated in 1970. Harrison School closed in 1987. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. In 2012, the school was renovated and transformed into the Harrison Center for Active Aging, the largest multipurpose senior center in Johnston County, North Carolina. In 2014, the Town of Selma received the Ernest B. Messer Award by the NC Department of Health and Human Services for the dedication and renovation of the Harrison Center.

Stevens House, located in Selma, was the site of the last Grand Review of the Confederate Army held on April 6, 1865, after its defeat at the Battle of Bentonville.

William E. Smith House, also known as The French Country Inn, is a historic home located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1900 and enlarged to its present size about 1912, and is a two-story, Classical Revival style frame dwelling. The front facade features an imposing pedimented portico supported by giant Ionic order columns. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the West Selma Historic District.

Nowell-Mayerburg-Oliver House is a historic home located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1912, and is a two-story, 2 1/2-bay, square, Queen Anne style frame dwelling. It features gabled projecting bays, a three-story octagonal stair tower, second story Palladian window, and a wrap-around porch with elegant Ionic order columns. Also on the property are the contributing garage and a small bungalow style summer house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the West Selma Historic District.

West Selma Historic District is a national historic district located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It encompasses 217 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structures in predominantly residential section of Selma. It includes notable examples of Queen Anne, Gothic Revival, Moderne, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture and buildings dating from about 1880 to 1961. Located in the district is the separately listed Nowell-Mayerburg-Oliver House and William E. Smith House. Other notable buildings include the Edgerton Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church (1910, 1928, 1950), Abdalla House (c. 1940), Dr. Joshua W. Vick House (c. 1880, home of one of the developers of Vick's Vapor Rub), Stella and William H. Etheridge House (also known as "Turnwood," 1897), Dr. R. Marvin Blackmon House, Samuel P. Wood House (1935), Janie and C. E. Kornegay House (1923), Selma Presbyterian Church (c. 1912, 1942), St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church/Vernon Wiggs House (c. 1900, 1946), and Pepsi Bottling Company (c. 1935).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

It includes notable examples of Classical Revival, Colonial Revival, Art Moderne, Art Deco, and Gothic Revival style architecture and buildings dating from about 1875 to 1960. Notable buildings include the Bank of Selma/American Telephone and Telegraph Exchange Building (1912; 1985), Economy Furniture (c. 1920), John A. Mitchener Building (1925), The Rudy Theater (c. 1940; c. 1970), The Hardware Store (c. 1910), Bank of Selma (c. 1910), Selma Baptist Church (1908; 1948), and Selma Manufacturing Company/Selma Furniture Store and Opera House (1902).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Selma Union Depot, also known as Selma Union Station and Selma–Smithfield, is a train station and museum in Selma, North Carolina, and near the town of Smithfield. Built in 1924, it is currently served by two Amtrak passenger trains, the Palmetto and the Carolinian. It is located at 500 East Railroad Street in the heart of downtown Selma. The Silver Meteor and the Silver Star have their northern split here, but do not stop in Selma.

Everitt P. Stevens House is a historic plantation house located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1850, and is a two-story, three-bay, vernacular Greek Revival style frame farmhouse. It has a single exterior brick end chimney and a rear shed addition added about 1940 and extended across the entire rear elevation about 1970. Also on the property are the contributing large barn and square tobacco barn, both built about 1900. After the Confederate Army defeat at the Battle of Bentonville (March 19–21, 1865) the army re-assembled around the grounds of the house where the last Grand Review of the army was held on April 6, 1865. In attendance at the review were Generals William J. Hardee, Joseph E. Johnston, and Governor Zebulon Baird Vance.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Smithfield-Selma High School is a public high school located in Smithfield, North Carolina. It is locally referred to as simply "SSS" (pronounced 'Triple S'). The school is part of Johnston County Schools.

WMPM (1270 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Smithfield, North Carolina. WMPM is owned by Steven Lara, through licensee Gorilla Broadcasting Company, LLC. Its studios and offices are on Buffalo Road in Smithfield. By day, WMPM is powered at 5,000 watts non-directional. To protect other stations on 1270 AM from interference, at night it reduces power to 140 watts. Programming is also heard on 200-watt FM translator W232DO at 94.3 MHz in Smithfield, Selma, and Clayton. WMPM 1270AM covers the Raleigh market.
