Downtown Selma Historic District

West Selma Historic District is a national historic district located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It encompasses 217 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structures in predominantly residential section of Selma. It includes notable examples of Queen Anne, Gothic Revival, Moderne, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture and buildings dating from about 1880 to 1961. Located in the district is the separately listed Nowell-Mayerburg-Oliver House and William E. Smith House. Other notable buildings include the Edgerton Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church (1910, 1928, 1950), Abdalla House (c. 1940), Dr. Joshua W. Vick House (c. 1880, home of one of the developers of Vick's Vapor Rub), Stella and William H. Etheridge House (also known as "Turnwood," 1897), Dr. R. Marvin Blackmon House, Samuel P. Wood House (1935), Janie and C. E. Kornegay House (1923), Selma Presbyterian Church (c. 1912, 1942), St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church/Vernon Wiggs House (c. 1900, 1946), and Pepsi Bottling Company (c. 1935).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Selma Union Depot, also known as Selma Union Station and Selma–Smithfield, is a train station and museum in Selma, North Carolina, and near the town of Smithfield. Built in 1924, it is currently served by two Amtrak passenger trains, the Palmetto and the Carolinian. It is located at 500 East Railroad Street in the heart of downtown Selma. The Silver Meteor and the Silver Star have their northern split here, but do not stop in Selma.

Everitt P. Stevens House is a historic plantation house located at Selma, Johnston County, North Carolina. It was built about 1850, and is a two-story, three-bay, vernacular Greek Revival style frame farmhouse. It has a single exterior brick end chimney and a rear shed addition added about 1940 and extended across the entire rear elevation about 1970. Also on the property are the contributing large barn and square tobacco barn, both built about 1900. After the Confederate Army defeat at the Battle of Bentonville (March 19–21, 1865) the army re-assembled around the grounds of the house where the last Grand Review of the army was held on April 6, 1865. In attendance at the review were Generals William J. Hardee, Joseph E. Johnston, and Governor Zebulon Baird Vance.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

West Smithfield was an unincorporated community and census-designated place and is now a district of Smithfield, North Carolina in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. The population was last recorded separately from Smithfield in 2000, when 59 people resided in the CDP.

Wilson's Mills is a town in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. In 2010, the population was 2,277, up from 1,291 in 2000. As of 2018, the estimated population was 2,689.

James Kerr House is a historic plantation house located near Kerr, Sampson County, North Carolina. The house was built in 1844, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five bay by two bay, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a gable roof, 2+1⁄2-story rear ell, brick pier foundation, and a pillared double-tier porch central porch. The interior is center-hall in plan. The house is attributed to builder Isaac B. Kelly, who also built the Dr. John B. Seavey House. Also on the property are the contributing original detached kitchen and frame smokehouse.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Flowers is an unincorporated community in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States, west of Jordan, east of Clayton, and southeast of Archer Lodge. It lies at an elevation of 289 feet (88 m).It is named for famed bootlegger and land owner Percy Flowers, who owned much of the property in the area. Prior to Flowers, the land was part of the Pineville plantation owned by Josiah Ogden Watson, a slaveholding physician who served in the War of 1812 and under Andrew Jackson at the defeat of Creek warriors at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. After Watson's death, ownership of the plantation and its enslaved inhabitants passed to his nephew J. W. B. Watson, a state senator who voted in favor of the state's secession from the Union.While the borders of the community are not well defined, the intersection of Buffalo Road and North Carolina Highway 42, known as "Flowers Crossroads", is generally considered the center of the community. Some of the former landowners and enslaved people held on the old plantation are buried in a small cemetery just north of the crossroads. Flowers Plantation is a large housing development in the unincorporated community, that was voted 2013 and 2014 NC Community of the Year by the North Carolina Home Builders Association. The Flowers General Store is the main landmark at the center of the community.

Jordan is an unincorporated community in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States, off North Carolina Highway 42, and North Carolina Highway 96, east of Flowers. It lies at an elevation of 266 feet (81 m).

Blackmans Crossroads is an unincorporated community in Johnston County, North Carolina, At the intersection of North Carolina Highway 96, and Stricklands Crossroads Rd, east of Benson and south of Four Oaks. The crossroads is home to a local fire department of the same name. As well as being the name of the local fire district There’s also a church, restaurant, country store, and community pool by the same name. The local fire department was a subject of impropriety several years ago, with embezzlement by the fire chief, who has since been replaced.A topic of local debate is the proper spelling and use of an apostrophe of the area's name. 3 common variations are Blackmans, Blackman's and Blackmons.
