Seesen

Bornhausen is next to Rhüden the northernmost part of the town of Seesen am Harz in the district of Goslar, in Lower Saxony. It has an approximate population of 1030.

Seesen station is the largest station in the town of Seesen in the German state of Lower Saxony. Münchehof (Harz) station also still serves the municipality. It has three platform edges with a length of 140 metres each and a height of 55 centimetres. The station was made barrier-free under the project Niedersachsen ist am Zug II ("Lower Saxony is on the train II") for about €2.6 million: lifts were installed on platform 1 and on the island platform with tracks 2 and 4. Each platform has a dynamic train indicator that informs about delays and other deviations from the timetable. The old freight yard in Seesen is no longer used and has been abandoned. The tracks that were no longer needed for freight transport were removed by 2013. Track 3 of the passenger station had already been dismantled.

Hahausen is a village and a former municipality in the district of Goslar in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 November 2021, it is part of the town Langelsheim, of which it is an Ortschaft.It is situated northwest of the Harz mountains, between Seesen and Lutter am Barenberge. It was part of the former Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Lutter am Barenberge.

The Kalte Birke is a cross tracks in the Harz Mountains of Germany where there is a refuge hut and former settlement. It is located west of the Innerste Reservoir at about 540 metres above sea level. It lies in the unincorporated area of Harz in the county of Goslar. Historically it is closely linked to the municipality of Hahausen and village of Neuekrug, four kilometres northwest.

The Heber is a hogback ridge, relatively small in area and up to 313.5 metres high, in the Lower Saxon Hills within the districts of Goslar, Northeim and Hildesheim in the German state of Lower Saxony.

The Ambergau is a historic landscape and natural region unit in the Innerste Uplands in southern Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a basin, about 10 x 10 kilometres across, with 18 settlements (there were 31 in the Middle Ages), the centre and capital of which since the 13th century is the town of Bockenem. The basin, with its fertile agricultural fields, is surrounded by the wooded ridges of Heber, the Harplage, the Weinberg and the Hainberg. The Gau is a cultural landscape that was formed as early as the 8th century.

The WeltWald Harz (120 hectares) up to 2009 Arboretum Bad Grund, also known as Exotenwald and sometimes called the Arboretum des Forstamtes Grund or the Forstaboretum der Niedersächsischen Landesforstverwaltung, is an arboretum located along the B 242 federal highway near the Hübichenstein, northwest of Bad Grund, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was established in 1971 by the Niedersächsisches Forstamt Riefensbeek (Riefensbeek office of the Lower Saxon Forestry Commission), with first plantings in 1975. By 1987 a total of 84,890 trees and shrubs had been planted on 65 hectares, including fir (30 species), spruce (25), maple (14), birch (10), and oak (8). Today it contains about 600 species of woody plants from Asia, Europe, North America, and Siberia, organized by geographic region, with a number of walking paths.

The Hübichenstein is an unusual rock formation in the Harz mountains, 50 meters in height, located on highway B242 about one kilometer northwest of Bad Grund, Lower Saxony, Germany. In 1897 it was crowned with a monument to Kaiser Wilhelm I, in the shape of an eagle with three-meter wingspan.

Gittelde is a village and a former municipality in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 March 2013, it is part of the municipality Bad Grund.

Bad Grund (Harz) is a town in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the western Harz, approx. 7 km west of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, and 10 km north of Osterode am Harz. Bad Grund is also the name of the former Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Bad Grund, of which Bad Grund formed part. It was disbanded in March 2013 and replaced by the Einheitsgemeinde Bad Grund.

The Iberg is a hill, 563 m above sea level, in the western Harz mountains in the German state of Lower Saxony. It lies north of Bad Grund, above the Harz High Road. The Iberg is an old coral reef that emerged in the Givetian/Frasnian (Devonian) stages, that was created as an atoll in the middle of the ocean, probably from the base of a volcano. The reef was mainly built by corals und stromatoporoidea. Later, as the Frasnian transitioned into the Famennian, these reef-building organisms died out leaving the reef unfinished. During the Famennian and Mississippian crevices emerged that were filled with crinoid, brachiopod und goniatite chalks. The Iberg is made entirely of limestone and karstification has resulted in numerous caves. One of these, the Iberg Dripstone Cave is open to the public through guided tours. In the immediate vicinity is the Hübichenstein. On the northwestern slopes of the Iberg is a large limestone quarry and a lime works. On the summit is the Albert Tower (Iberger Albertturm) and a restaurant for day trippers. There is also a checkpoint (no. 130) for the Harzer Wandernadel. The Iberger Kaffeehaus on the northern slope was a popular restaurant and was also referred to as Bad Grund's Balcony (Balkon Bad Grunds). However it was the victim of arson on 28 February 2000 and has since fallen into rack and ruin.

The Iberg Dripstone Cave (German: Iberger Tropfsteinhöhle) is a public cave and geology museum in southern Lower Saxony near Bad Grund, Germany. It is located on the western edge of the Harz mountains in the 563-metre-high (1,847 ft) Iberg mountain at a height of 440 metres (1,440 ft) above sea level in the chalk of an upper Devonian atoll reef. The actual dripstone cave is 123 metres long. With its 78-metre-long (256 ft) Captain Spatzier Gallery, the Yellow Climb (Gelben Stieg) and two other caverns, the total length of the cave is 300 metres (980 ft). Between 2006 and 2008, the cave was turned into a 'cave experience centre' with the three main themes of "Fascination Cave" "The oldest family in the world" and "A reef on a journey".
