Webster is a town in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 363, down from 486 in 2000. Webster was the first county seat of Jackson County, until Sylva assumed the role in 1913.

The Webster Rock School is an historic school building located NC 116 / Main St., at Webster, Jackson County, North Carolina. It was built between 1936 and 1938 by the Works Progress Administration, and is one story with hip roof utilitarian building, constructed of native "river rock" in colors of tan and brown. It has an "E"-shape plan and has a 13 bay front facade. The school originally contained an auditorium, cafeteria, kitchen and eight classrooms.In 1990, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Webster Methodist Church is an historic Methodist church located on NC 116 / Main St., at Webster, Jackson County, North Carolina. It was built in 1887, and is a one-story, three-bay, rectangular Vernacular Gothic Revival style frame church. It is sheathed in weatherboard, has a front gable roof, and engaged bell tower.In 1989 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Congressman David McKee Hall is buried in the church cemetery.

Lucius Coleman Hall House is a historic home located near Webster, Jackson County, North Carolina. The house was built in 1891–1892, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Late Victorian-style frame dwelling, with a 1+1⁄2-story rear ell. The rear ell is believed to date to about 1850, and originated as a free-standing, saddlebag house with gable roof and central brick chimney. The 1892 section is a "T"-plan, I-house with elaborate details. The hipped roof porch on the 1892 section was added about 1950.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Webster Baptist Church, is an historic Southern Baptist church located at the intersection of NC 116 and SR 1340, near Webster, Jackson County, North Carolina. It was built in 1900, and is a one-story, three-bay, rectangular Vernacular Victorian style church. It has a steep gable roof, engaged three stage bell tower, and tall round-headed windows. The church retains its original furniture built and donated by local master cabinetmaker Joseph Warrenton Cowan (1834-1917) and his son, Lawrence Cowan.In 1989 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Southwestern Community College is a public community college in Sylva, North Carolina. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System.

Jackson County Early College is a public high school located in Sylva, North Carolina. It opened as an alternative to Smoky Mountain High School in 2008 for those students willing to put in extra work to also earn a community college 2-year degree along with their high school diploma. Jackson County Early College is a part of the Jackson County School System. Although it is a separate school, students are able to participate in Smoky Mountain Extracurricular activities, such as Marching Band, Indoor Percussion, Jazz Band, and some Clubs. It was originally located in Oaks Hall on the Southwestern Community College Campus in Webster, NC, where quarters were tight due to the increasing enrollment of the Early College and Southwestern Community College, but it moved in the Fall of 2010 to a building built by the county for the student's High School Classes. This has also allowed for the ability of the enrollment to exceed 100. Jackson County Early College currently has an "A" rating.

Cherokee High School is a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) grant high school located in Cherokee, North Carolina and administered by the federally recognized Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. They have their base in Cherokee. The school was originally housed in a 1950s/1960s building. It moved to a new facility constructed for it, which opened in 2009. Cherokee High School is part of the Cherokee Central Schools System. It is the only 9–12 high school on Qualla Boundary, and shares a campus with Cherokee Elementary and Cherokee Middle School.

Smoky Mountain High School is a public high school located in Sylva, North Carolina. The school formed as a result of the consolidation of the former Sylva-Webster High School and Cullowhee High School in 1988 at the Sylva-Webster campus, which dates to 1960. Smoky Mountain High School is a part of the Jackson County School System. It is the only 9–12 high school in the county. The other schools with grades 9-–2 are Blue Ridge School, a K–12th grade school, in Cashiers, North Carolina and Jackson County Early College, with grades 9–13 on the Southwestern Community College Campus.

Sylva is an incorporated town located in central Jackson County, in the Plott Balsam Mountains of Western North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 2,588. It is the county seat, taking over the role from nearby Webster in 1913.

Downtown Sylva Historic District is a national historic district located at Sylva, Jackson County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 41 contributing buildings and 3 contributing structures in the central business district of Sylva. They are dated between about 1900 and 1964, and include notable examples of Italianate, Classical Revival, Modern Movement, Queen Anne, and American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the C. J. Harris Building (c. 1900-1908), New Jackson Hotel (c. 1920, 1926), Medford Furniture Company (1923), Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (1925), the Sylvan Theatre (1927) designed by architect Douglas Ellington, Jackson County Bank's Sylva branch (1926), Cogdill Motors (1934), Moody Funeral Home (1946), Saint John's Episcopal Church (1956), and the United States Post Office (1964).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Dr. D. D. Hooper House is a historic home located at Sylva, Jackson County, North Carolina. The house was built in 1906, and is a two-story, Queen Anne-style frame dwelling, with one-story wings. One of the wings contained Dr. Hooper's office and was added in the 1930s. The house has a hipped roof with asymmetrical lower cross gables. The building houses the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
