University Canada West (UCW) is a private, for-profit university in British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 2005 by David F. Strong, the former president of the University of Victoria. UCW was purchased in 2008 by the Eminata Group and in 2014 sold to Global University Systems, its present owners. Blanshard Street is an arterial road in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre and Mayfair Shopping Centre are located along Blanshard. It has been the route for the Pat Bay Highway through Victoria since 1978 when the Blanshard Extension was completed from Hillside Street to Douglas Street.Among the more notable buildings on the street is the Romanesque Revival building of Congregation Emanu-El, the oldest surviving synagogue building in Canada. The street is named for Richard Blanshard, the first governor of the Colony of Vancouver Island.

Bay Street Armoury is located at 715 Bay Street in Victoria, British Columbia.The Bay Street Drill Hall was completed in 1915. It was created to provide training facilities for local militia units such as the Fifth Regiment of artillery, as well as to provide a home for two newly formed units, the 50th Gordon Highlanders of Canada and HQ Military District No. 11. The Armoury was designed by architect William Ridgway Wilson, (1863-1957).In its earlier years the armoury had more extensive use for public events as modern public facilities in Victoria had not yet been built.It was designated a historic building in 1989. it is a two-storey drill hall with Tudor Revival elements, built during the 1896 to 1918 period when over 100 drill halls and armouries were erected across Canada; its scale reflects the dramatic increase in military participation following Canada's performance during the Second Boer War.

Victoria Memorial Arena was an ice hockey arena, located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was built in 1949 and demolished in 2003 due to poor acoustics and climbing maintenance costs. Its nickname, the "Barn on Blanshard", was due to its design (rectangular with a curved roof, resembling a barn or aircraft hangar). The Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association began play in 1950, one year after the arena's opening. The Victoria Maple Leafs of the Western Hockey League played in the arena in the 1960s. The arena hosted the Victoria Cougars of the Western Hockey League between 1971 and 1994, when the team moved to Prince George. Afterward, the arena hosted the Victoria Salsa of the British Columbia Hockey League from 1994 to 2004. The replacement, Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, now occupies the site. In 2004, the Jim Pattison Group agreed to pay $125,000 per year for 10 years to the City of Victoria for the Save-On-Foods name rights on Victoria's new arena, amidst unpopular public opinion.

The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC) is an indoor arena located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and is the largest arena in British Columbia outside of Vancouver. It is primarily used for ice hockey, previously the home arena of the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, and currently the home of the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League. The SOFMC was developed and is operated by RG Properties Ltd., a Vancouver-based development/entertainment company with commercial, recreational and entertainment facilities throughout BC. RG Properties Ltd. was the corporate owner of the former Victoria Salmon Kings hockey team and owns the Victoria Royals.

The Victoria Curling Club was founded as the club signed a lease for land with the City of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1950. However, construction did not commence until 1952 as material shortages from the Korean War had caused delays. Still the Victoria Curling Club opened in February 1953 with eight sheets of ice.
