Vashon Hardware Store, now known as The Hardware Store Restaurant, is a commercial building in Vashon, Washington. Built in 1890, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Mukai Cold Process Fruit Barrelling [sic] Plant (also known as Mukai and Sons, Vashon Island Packing Company, or VIPCO) in Vashon, Washington, U.S., is a former fruit processing plant originally constructed and owned by the Japanese American Mukai family. In 1993 it became the first location associated with Japanese American history to be designated a King County landmark and was listed the following year on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Park Service (NPS) describes the 4.8-acre (1.9 ha) site as "a rare, intact example of a property associated with the history of Japanese American settlement in Washington."

KGNW (820 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Burien, Washington, and serving the Seattle metropolitan area. It airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format and is owned by the Salem Media Group. The radio studios and offices are on 5th Avenue South in downtown Seattle. By day, KGNW is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial stations. But 820 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A WBAP Fort Worth. So to avoid interference, at night KGNW reduces power to 5,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array at all times. The transmitter is off 105th Street SW on Vashon Island. The station is licensed to broadcast in the HD Radio format.

KJR (950 kHz) is an all-sports AM radio station owned by iHeartMedia in Seattle, Washington. KJR is the Puget Sound region's home of Fox Sports Radio and CBS Sports Radio, mostly carrying their national programming, while co-owned KJR-FM has local sports talk shows during the day and evening. KJR-AM-FM are the flagship stations for Seattle Kraken hockey. During the Seattle Seahawks season, the stations use the slogan "Home of the 12th Man". The studios are in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood northwest of downtown. KJR is among the oldest radio stations in the United States, tracing its lineage back to an experimental station in 1920. It is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations. It uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array to protect other stations on 950 AM from interference. The transmitter is on 105th Avenue SW on Vashon Island.

Francis Sherman constructed the Odd Fellows Hall on Vashon Island, Washington in 1912 with labor and materials donated by members of the Lodge. The building, which faces Vashon Highway, features a welcoming full-width front porch. In 1927, the lodge expanded the hall by adding single-story wings. The original, gable-roofed portion of the hall constitutes the center section of the present building. In conjunction with the women's chapter of the I.O.O.F. (Rebekah Lodge #277), the Odd Fellows hosted holiday celebrations, social events, and theatrical performances.It was designated a King County and/or local landmark in 1985

Vashon Island High School (VHS) is a public high school located on Vashon Island, Washington. Vashon Island High School, a part of the Vashon Island School District, is the only high school to serve the island. VHS runs 9th through 12th grade. The school has two language courses available: French and Spanish. VHS puts on three plays a year within the three drama classes; Theater Arts I, II and Musical Theater. VHS also has a band which puts on three concerts, including a Christmas concert and a Pops concert. The band also competes at a band competition at Stadium High School. The school's athletic mascot is the Pirates.

Vashon is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. It covers an island alternately called Vashon Island or Vashon–Maury Island, the largest island in Puget Sound south of Admiralty Inlet. The population was 10,624 at the 2010 census and the size is 36.9 square miles (95.6 km2).The island is connected to West Seattle and the Kitsap Peninsula to the north and Tacoma to the south via the Washington State Ferries system, as well as to Downtown Seattle via the King County Water Taxi. The island has resisted the construction of a fixed bridge to preserve its relative isolation and rural character. Vashon Island is also known for its annual strawberry festival, sheepdog trials, and agriculture.

Glen Acres is a community on Vashon Island located about two miles north of the town of Vashon.

The Colvos Store, also known as the Kress Store and Belcher Home, is a combination residence and commercial building in Vashon, Washington. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 2000.

KIRO (710 kHz "Seattle Sports") is a commercial AM radio station in Seattle, Washington, owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International. The station airs a sports radio format and is an ESPN Radio Network affiliate. The station's studios and offices are located on Eastlake Avenue in Seattle's Eastlake district. KIRO is a Class A clear channel station. It broadcasts at the maximum power for U.S. AM radio stations, 50,000 watts. By day, it uses a non-directional antenna. To protect the other Class A station on AM 710, WOR in New York City, and the previously allocated Class B station on 710, KSPN in Los Angeles, KIRO must use a directional antenna at night, thereby protecting those two stations. The transmitter is off Dockton Road SW on Vashon Island. KIRO is Washington State's primary entry point station in the Emergency Alert System.

Washington's 34th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It covers all of Vashon as well as West Seattle, White Center, and west Burien. The district's legislators are state senator Joe Nguyen and state representatives Emily Alvarado (position 1) and Joe Fitzgibbon (position 2), all Democrats.
