Shackford Hall is a historic educational facility located at Lake Junaluska, Haywood County, North Carolina. It was built in 1923, and is a large two-story, Classic Revival style building constructed of river rock and heavy timber. It has a T-shaped plan with cross gable roof and features a massive pedimented portico with six two-story Ionic order columns. It stands as one of the iconic structures in the Lake Junaluska Assembly.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Tuscola High School is a public senior high school located in Waynesville, North Carolina, United States, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west-southwest of Asheville. Tuscola High School succeeded the original Waynesville Township High School during the 1966 consolidation that merged Fines Creek and Crabtree High Schools with Waynesville. The school was built in the Tuscola community of East Waynesville, near Lake Junaluska and was named after the community in which it was built. Tuscola is a Cherokee word that means "Digging in Many Places". The school's mascot is a Mountaineer and the school colors are black and gold.

Frank Smathers House, also known as The Evergreens, is a historic home located at Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, H-shaped, eclectic frame dwelling with Gothic Revival and Colonial Revival style design elements. It features a steeply pitched, cross gable roof with imbricated fish-scale asphalt shingles, brick interior slope chimneys, projecting eaves, and exposed rafters. Also on the property are a contributing barn (c. 1900) and stone retaining wall (1926). It was built as a summer home and family cottage for the Frank Smathers family, who owned the home from 1926 until 1988. U.S. Senator George Smathers (1913-2007), son of Frank Smathers owned the home, followed by Florida Secretary of State, Bruce Smathers, (1943) grandson of Frank Smathers, before being sold outside the family.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

East Waynesville Baptist Church is a Baptist church in Waynesville, a small town in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, United States of America. It is an independent and autonomous member of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC). As of May 2005 it had 100 members. The church was involved in a 2005 controversy after the pastor allegedly expelled members because of their political views.

Lake Junaluska is a census-designated place (CDP) in Haywood County, North Carolina, United States, and a manmade lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lake Junaluska is named after nearby Mount Junaluska (now North Eaglenest Mountain), which was named after Chief Junaluska, a Cherokee leader in the early nineteenth century. As of the 2010 census, the population of the community was 2,734.The 200-acre (81 ha) manmade lake of the same name is surrounded by private residences and the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center. The lake is fed primarily from Richland Creek and discharges into the creek, maintaining an approximately constant lake level. Richland Creek is a tributary to the Pigeon River. Recreation on the lake includes canoes, kayaks, fishing and swimming. To maintain a quiet environment, only electric trolling motors are permitted to operate on the lake. There is a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) paved walking trail around the lake. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby, as is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Lake Junaluska was formerly the site of the headquarters of the World Methodist Council.

It features asymn1etrical massing, a cross gambrel roof, wraparound porch with square stone piers and balustrade, a stone porte-cochère, and a corner turret.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Haywood Community College is a public community college in Clyde, North Carolina. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System. Established in 1965, the college offers associate degree programs and online courses in programs such as forestry, fish and wildlife management, and professional crafts. The college's 120-acre (49 ha) campus includes an arboretum, a mill pond, and a working gristmill constructed by students.

Haywood Early College is a public high school located on the campus of Haywood Community College. Haywood Early College High School enrolls students in grades 9 through 13. Students who complete the full program earn both a high school diploma and a two-year transfer degree.

Clyde H. Ray Sr. House, also known as Ten Oaks and Breese House, is a historic home located at Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina. It was built in 1901–1902, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Colonial Revival style frame dwelling with Queen Anne style design elements. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a multi-gabled and hipped roof and two interior end brick chimneys. Also on the property is a contributing spring house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Haywood County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina. It was built in 1932, and is a three-story, ashlar stone veneered rectangular building in the Classical Revival style. It features a slightly projecting entrance pavilion with a pedimented frontispiece resting on four engaged Doric order columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Waynesville Main Street Historic District.
