Park Wood or Parkwood is a housing estate and district in Gillingham at the south-eastern corner of the Medway conurbation in Kent, England. It was built mainly during the 1960s and 1970s, largely by Ward Homes, and originally called Rainham Park.Parkwood is bordered by Wigmore to the west, Rainham to the north, and the M2 motorway to the south. It is within the Rainham South council ward.

Foxburrow Wood is a 6.1-hectare (15-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Rainham in Kent. It is owned and managed by Medway Council.This is a remnant of a much larger historic wood, and it has flora which are indicators of ancient woodland such as herb paris and bluebells.There is access from Mierscourt Road.

Purple Hill is a 14.9-hectare (37-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Gillingham in Kent. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2.This chalk downland site has herb-rich grassland, scrub and woods. Flora include the nationally rare Kentish milkwort and several uncommon orchids.The site is private land with no public access.

Yelsted is a hamlet in the Borough of Maidstone, in the county of Kent, England. In 1800, Edward Hasted noted that it was spelt Gillested. It was a manor in the parish of Stockbury, the manor-house was owned by 'John de Savage', (grandson of 'Ralph de Savage', who was with King Richard I at the siege of Acon, France). Later, the house was passed to Sir William Jumper (commissioner of his Majesty's navy at Plymouth). His son, William Jumper, (esquire) and his wife Jane. After William died, the wife sold it in 1757, to the Rev. Pierce Dixon, master of the mathematicalfree school at Rochester. By 1800, another family relative of the 'Jumper's owned the house now called 'Hill Green House'.In 1870–72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Yelsted like this: "YELSTED, a village in Stockbury parish, Kent; 7½ miles NE of Maidstone."

Queendown Warren is a 22.2-hectare (55-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of Rainham in Kent. It is a Local Nature Reserve, a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and a Special Area of Conservation. It is in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust, and part of it is owned by Plantlife.

Rainham ( RAY-nəm) is a town in the unitary authority of Medway, in Kent, South East England. The town forms a conurbation with neighbouring towns Chatham, Rochester, Strood and Gillingham. Historically, Rainham was a separate village until, in 1928, it was added to the Municipal Borough of Gillingham, which was originally created in 1903 and was grouped into the latter's built-up area in analysis of the 2011 census by the Office for National Statistics. It became part of the Medway authority when Gillingham was incorporated with the other towns to form Medway Unitary Authority in 1998.

Wigmore is a suberb in the southeast of Medway in Kent, England. It lies opposite Hempstead to the east and Rainham to the north east.

Levan Strice is a 2.8-hectare (6.9-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Wigmore in Kent. It consists mostly of woodland with public access trails. It is owned and managed by Medway Council. This site has ancient woodland; the main habitat is coppice woodland. There is access to the site from both Thanet Road (off Maidstone Road, Wigmore) and via a rear gate inside the car park at Wigmore Library. The woodland area is bordered by urban development, although it is home to a spectrum of British fauna (including foxes and various birds) and flora. A large number of bluebells bloom in the spring months and make up a carpet of dense woodland floor, making it a popular bluebell wood walking route for families and locals.

Rainham railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in South East England, serving the town of Rainham, Kent. It is 38 miles 74 chains (62.6 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Gillingham and Newington. The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern. Following a timetable change on Sunday 20 May 2018, some trains are operated by Govia Thameslink. The station has three platforms. Platform 0 is an "up" bay platform, used mainly by Thameslink Services. Platform 1 is an "up" through providing services towards London, and Platform 2 is a "down" through for services towards Ramsgate and Dover Priory. It is sometimes shown as Rainham (Kent) in order to distinguish it from the station of the same name in East London. There are accessible entrances without stairs on both platforms, with step-free access via Platform 1 for services towards London (via main station entrance). Step-free access via Platform 2 for services away from London (via side entrance, short ramp from Granary Close). To interchange platforms, people needing accessible access must use the road and steep paths in excess of 250 metres. (There is also a steep staircase overpass over the tracks to interchange platforms.) Induction loops are available and ticket counters are able to be lowered or raised. There are also accessible ticket machines in the station forecourt. There are fold-away ramps available on platforms for wheelchair train access.

Leigh Academy Rainham is an 11–18 mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Rainham, Kent, England. Established in September 2021, it is a free school, and part of the Leigh Academies Trust.

The Howard School is a boys' secondary school in Rainham, Kent, England, with approximately 1,500 pupils. It offers a partially selective system and is one of only five bi-lateral schools in the United Kingdom. The partially selective system permits admission to the grammar school section by the 11-Plus selection, however a passing mark is not required if the pupil is seen to have the ability to work in the 'grammar stream', and non-selective admission to the high school. The school is a Sports College.

Rainham School for Girls is an 11–18 girls, secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Rainham, Gillingham, Kent, England. It is next to the all-boys school, The Howard School and is a Technology College.
