Perth Entertainment Centre

Perth City Link is an urban renewal and redevelopment project in Perth, Western Australia. The project – bounded by the Mitchell Freeway, Wellington Street, the Horseshoe Bridge and Roe Street – is on land that was once the Perth/City railway yard and dedicated railway property west of Perth railway station. The land was used by the railways and reserved for their use, from the 1880s until the late 1990s. At the time of early proposals, much of the space was no longer required by the railway.The foundation project, involved sinking a small section of the Fremantle railway line, between the City and Northbridge and demolishing the old Wellington Street Bus Station. Underground rail, refurbishment and extension of Perth station and a new bus station, is allowing for redevelopment of the 13.5 hectares (33 acres) of surface land that has been reclaimed. The rail works were completed in December 2013 and the Perth Busport opened in 2016.

The Australian College of Applied Education (ACAE), previously the Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management (ASTHM), Australia's first private hotel school, was established in 1989 in Perth. ACAE ran courses ranging from hospitality and cookery, to business, management and accounting.ACAE's parent Careers Australia generated hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding for expensive training courses. Investigations by ABC television journalists revealed the company was targeting vulnerable students using door-to-door sales brokers offering "free" computers as inducements to enroll. When that sales tactic was banned by the Federal Government, Careers Australia moved to telemarketing, online competitions offering "free" iPads, and employment websites to obtain people's personal information without their knowledge. In April 2017 the Federal Government denied Careers Australia access to its vocational education scheme because of its poor track record, which included the company admitting to breaking consumer law. The business, including ACAE's Perth campus, was closed down on 25 May.

Artrage is Western Australia's longest-running charitable not-for-profit arts organisation. Based in Perth, it originated as an alternative to the Perth International Arts Festival in 1983. Since then, Artrage has evolved into a production company supporting contemporary culture in Western Australia, and produces Rooftop Movies, Girls School, and the annual multi-arts fringe festival Fringe World.

Melbourne Street is a street in Northbridge, Western Australia that runs between Roe and James Streets. The current street is a part of an older and longer street that at one time extended from Murray Street to what is now Aberdeen Street. It is named after Lord Melbourne, the British prime minister in the 1830s, when the street was originally built.

Roe Street bus station was a Transperth bus station located on Roe Street, next to Perth station in Western Australia which operated between 12 January 2014 and 17 July 2016.

Perth Arena (known commercially as RAC Arena) is an entertainment and sporting arena in the city centre of Perth, Western Australia, used mostly for basketball matches. It is located on Wellington Street near the site of the former Perth Entertainment Centre, and was officially opened on 10 November 2012. Perth Arena is the first stage of the Perth City Link, a 13.5-hectare (33-acre) major urban renewal and redevelopment project which involves the sinking of the Fremantle railway line to link the Perth central business district directly with Northbridge.

A section of the eastern end of the street has been closed and modified as the James Street Mall in the Perth Cultural Centre – with the Western Australian Museum, Alexander Library Building and older government buildings contained within the culture centre area.The central section between William Street and to the western end at Russell Square is a streetscape with a colourful and extensive history of crime, and notoriety.Until December 2016, the Mitchell Freeway had a southbound exit onto the street. The exit was removed and replaced with one at Roe Street to enable the construction of the Charles Street Bus Bridge.

Chinatown in Northbridge, an inner city suburb of Perth, Western Australia is bounded by Roe Street, Nicks Lane, the businesses facing James Street, and the Roe Street car park. Located within Chinatown are 13 restaurants and businesses. However, many more Asian businesses are found further north around William Street near Brisbane Street, an area known informally for this reason as the real Chinatown, and indeed throughout both the Perth metropolitan region and the rest of Western Australia. The City of Vincent, whose boundary with the City of Perth runs along Newcastle Street approximately 425 metres (1,394 ft) north of Chinatown, has installed Asiatic themed street lights and street furniture to reflect the proliferation of Asian businesses – such as at the corner of William Street and Forbes Road within their part of the suburb of Perth. Businesses include restaurants, hair salons, grocery stores, travel agencies, Daiguo shipping companies, and medicine shops. The Vietnamese Buddhist Association and Temple is also located just off William Street on Money Street.

Wellington Street bus station was a Transperth bus station located next to Perth railway station in the Perth central business district, Western Australia from 1973 until 2014. It was demolished to make way for Perth Busport.
