The Kansas City Live Stock Exchange was the headquarters of the Kansas City Stockyards. It is located at 1600 Gennesse in Kansas City, Missouri, in the West Bottoms. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is owned by Bill Haw.

The Hy-Vee Arena, previously known as Kemper Arena, is an indoor arena located in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to conversion to a youth sports and community gymnasium facility, Kemper Arena was previously a 19,500-seat professional sports arena. It has hosted NCAA Final Four basketball games, professional basketball and hockey teams, professional wrestling events, the 1976 Republican National Convention, concerts, and is the ongoing host of the American Royal livestock show. It was originally named for R. Crosby Kemper Sr., a member of the powerful Kemper financial clan and who donated $3.2 million from his estate for the arena. In 2016, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in recognition of its revolutionary design by Helmut Jahn.

Hale Arena is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Kansas City, Missouri. It was built in 1992 and was home to the former Kansas City Knights basketball team after they moved from Kemper Arena in 2003. It was named in honor of H. D. "Joe" Hale and his wife Joyce for their financial contribution. Hale Arena is home of the American Royal rodeo.

The Rock Island Bridge in Kansas City, Kansas is a rail crossing of the Kansas River. It connects the Armourdale, Kansas to West Bottoms. It is a truss bridge that is closed to traffic. It was built in 1905. It has two main spans and a smaller one on the east side. It also has a screw-jack lifting system to allow the bridge to be lifted during floods. It was used until 1972, when the Kansas City Stockyards closed down, Kemper Arena was built right in the path of the tracks, and Rock Island abandoned the line to the bridge later that year. The bridge's rails were cut off at each end and a levee for the Kansas River was built at the east end. It no longer carries railcars, but just carries electrical wires in a rack. It is located just north of Kansas Avenue over the Kansas River. As of September 21, 2021,Flying Truss, LLC leased the Rock Island Bridge from the Unified Government of Wyndotte County. Flying Truss will be creating and dining and entertainment venue along with a Community Zone to activate the river and bike trails. Designs can be seen at rockislandkc.com On the morning of September 21, 2022, Lumen Technologies reported a fire on the Rock Island Bridge.

The 23rd Street viaduct is an automobile crossing of the Kansas River, and south of the Rock Island Bridge (Kansas City). It was built in 1921, and rebuilt in 2007. It is an elevated deck truss, and about 3,000 feet long. It survived the 1951, and 1993 Kansas City floods. It has two side approaches, one to the south, one to the north, and rises above the south part of the West Bottoms, and the parking lot to Kemper Arena. Its real name is the Kansas Avenue Bridge, but, because the primary half of it is in Missouri, it is called the 23rd Street viaduct more than the Kansas Avenue Bridge.

The Union Pacific Intermodal Bridge is a rail crossing of the Kansas River in Kansas City, Missouri. It was built in 1911, as a four span thru-truss on the UPRR railroad. It has a screw jack lift system to allow it to be raised to avoid flood waters. It gets its "Intermodal" part of its name because it connects to the Union Pacific Intermodal yard about 500 feet to the west. It is the sister bridge to the Missouri Pacific Bridge

The Missouri Pacific Railroad bridge was built in 1909, by the MoPac. In 1984 it was merged with Union Pacific in the Missouri Pacific-Union Pacific merger. The bridge is upstream of I-670, over the Kansas River. It is open to traffic. It is the sister bridge to the Union Pacific Intermodal Bridge.

Edge of Hell is an American haunted house attraction located in West Bottoms district of Kansas City, Missouri. It has been in operation since 1975 and is the longest-running operating commercial haunted attraction in the United States.

The West Bottoms is a historic industrial neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, immediately west of downtown and straddling the border of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. At the confluence of the Missouri River and the Kansas River, it faces Kaw Point, an early campsite of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The region was originally settled by the native tribes, and this spot was permanently settled as French Bottoms in the early 1800s by François Chouteau for his trade with the tribes and early American pioneers. It is one of the oldest areas of the metro along with Westport. Its neighboring Quality Hill neighborhood is a historical center of the pioneer Town of Kansas, which became Kansas City, Missouri. The West Bottoms is mostly characterized by brick high-rise historical industrial buildings, built in the early 1900s for major regional stockyards, train yards, and factories. Most of these were converted into art galleries, restaurants, shops, apartments, and corporate offices. Its antique shops and haunted house attractions are very popular.

The I-670 Viaduct is an automobile crossing of the Kansas River, and West Bottoms in Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. It was built in 1990, and carries six lanes (three east, three west) of Interstate 670 through Kansas City. The bridge is also called the Jay B. Dillingham bridge. (Dillingham was the president of the Kansas City Stockyards) It is just north of the Missouri Pacific Bridge, and south of the Central Avenue Bridge (Kansas City) over the Kansas River.

Crossing the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas, the Highline Bridge is rare example of a double-tracked, double-deck railroad bridge designed for carrying railroad traffic on both levels. The bridge is owned and operated by the Kansas City Terminal Railway (KCTR) and provides access between the extensive rail yards on both sides of the river in the Argentine and Armourdale neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kansas and other rail yards in Kansas City, Missouri. The current bridge was constructed between 1916 and 1919 as part of the improvements needed to relocate the Kansas City Union Station to its present location while still providing efficient access to railroads serving the station from the west and northwest. The upper deck is a critical link in the elevated Kansas City Highline viaduct originally constructed to carry passenger trains over several busy freight junctions west of the Union Station. The roads using the bridge for passenger service at the time of construction included the Union Pacific; Chicago Great Western; Missouri Pacific; and Rock Island. Mainlines and junctions then crossed by the Highline included Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe; Kansas City Terminal; Chicago, Burlington and Quincy; The Katy; Kansas City Southern; and Frisco.Currently, the bridge handles freight traffic on both levels.

West High School was a high school in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. It was a part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. West High School had the highest Latino population of any high school in the district. In 1978, Don Pecina led a group of parents who examined West High School; they wished to improve the education since many residents of western Kansas City committed crimes and died in violent manners. The group formed the Coalition to Preserve Education on the Westside. On August 7, 1980, the group hijacked the school. After three days of negotiations between the district and the coalition, the district agreed to open a new program at West High School in 1981. Instead, the school was closed that year. The high school building has since been converted into apartments.
