Adelaide Town Hall is a landmark building on King William Street in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The City of Adelaide Town Hall complex includes the Town Hall and the office building at 25 Pirie Street.

Pirie Street is a road on the east side of the Adelaide city centre, South Australia. It runs east–west, between East Terrace and King William Street. After crossing King William Street, it continues as Waymouth Street. It forms the southern boundary of Hindmarsh Square which is in the centre of the north-east quadrant of the city centre. Pirie Street is served by a stop on the Glenelg tram line on King William Street. It is mainly occupied by office buildings, restaurants, and nightspots. It is one of the narrower streets of the Adelaide grid, at 1 chain (66 ft; 20 m) wide, and has a bicycle lane. It has a number of notable buildings, including several heritage-listed ones, and was once home to the biggest brewery in the colony of South Australia, the Adelaide Brewery. In 2019 it was used as a location for the film Escape from Pretoria, starring Daniel Radcliffe, substituting for Cape Town, South Africa.

The Telstra House is a high-rise building that is located in the Adelaide CBD on the northern side of Pirie Street. The Telstra House rises 117 metres above the ground and has 35 floors. Construction of the building began in 1984 and was completed in 1987. Upon completion, the Telstra House became the tallest building in Adelaide at 104 metres (341 ft), but Westpac House (originally known as the State Bank building) overtook the tallest building position in 1988. A major refurbishment of the building took place in 2019.Telstra House was previously owned by Telstra company, but is now owned by Australian Unity.

Pilgrim Uniting Church is a church in the heart of the City on Flinders Street, Adelaide in South Australia. It is a church of the Uniting Church in Australia. Social justice, as articulated by the Uniting Church in Australia in the inaugural Statement to the Nation (1977), and the Statement to the Nation (1988) for Australia's Bicentennial celebrations, is at the basis of the church's work. Pilgrim offers music programs to the public, and has the largest organ in Adelaide.

Adelaide ( (listen) AD-il-ayd) is the capital city of South Australia, the state's largest city and the fifth-most populous city of Australia. "Adelaide" may refer to either Greater Adelaide (including the Adelaide Hills) or the Adelaide city centre. The demonym Adelaidean is used to denote the city and the residents of Adelaide. Adelaide city centre was originally inhabited by a group of Kaurna people and known as Tarndanyangga ("place of the red kangaroo") – now the dual name of Victoria Square in the middle of the city – or Tarndanya. Adelaide is situated on the Adelaide Plains north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St Vincent in the west and the Mount Lofty Ranges in the east. Its metropolitan area extends 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges, and stretches 96 km (60 mi) from Gawler in the north to Sellicks Beach in the south. Named in honour of Queen Adelaide, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely-settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city centre and chose its location close to the River Torrens. Light's design, now listed as national heritage, set out the city centre in a grid layout known as "Light's Vision", interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by parklands. Early colonial Adelaide was shaped by the diversity and wealth of its free settlers, in contrast to the convict history of other Australian cities. Until the post-war era, it was Australia's third most populated city. It has been noted for its leading examples of religious freedom and progressive political reforms, and became known as the "City of Churches" due to its diversity of faiths. Today, Adelaide is known by its many festivals and sporting events, its food and wine, its coastline and hills, and its large defence and manufacturing sectors. Adelaide's quality of life has ranked consistently highly in various measures through the 21st century, at one stage being named Australia's most liveable city.As South Australia's government and commercial centre, Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. Most of these are concentrated in the city centre along the cultural boulevards of North Terrace and King William Street.

Grenfell Centre, also known as The Black Stump, is a high rise office building located at 25 Grenfell Street in the Adelaide city centre. It is the ninth tallest building in Adelaide, South Australia, with a height of 103 metres (338 feet). It was the tallest building in the city until surpassed by the Telstra House in 1987. It has 26 floors and was completed in 1973. In the 1980s, the building's foyer and interior were refurbished. A ten-metre antenna was attached in 1980 and upgraded with digital transmitters in 2003, increasing the height a metre further.In 2007, the building was redeveloped, and two frameless glass cubes were constructed at the entrance of the building. This redevelopment earned it the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Commercial Architecture Award of Commendation.As of May 2016, Oracle uses the building; over the last few years, the company logo has been displayed at the top. Its nickname, "black stump", in reference to the building's appearance, is also a colloquial Australian phrase.

Victoria Square, also known as Tarntanyangga (formerly Tarndanyangga) (Kaurna pronunciation: [ˈd̪̥aɳɖaɲaŋɡa]), is the central square of five public squares in the Adelaide city centre, South Australia. It is one of six squares designed by the founder of Adelaide, Colonel William Light, who was Surveyor-General at the time, in his 1837 plan of the City of Adelaide which spanned the River Torrens Valley, comprising the city centre (South Adelaide) and North Adelaide. The square was named on 23 May 1837 by the Street Naming Committee after Princess Victoria, then heir presumptive of the British throne. In 2003, it was assigned a second name, Tarndanyangga (later amended to Tarntanyangga), in the Kaurna language of the original inhabitants, as part of the Adelaide City Council's dual naming initiative. The square has been upgraded and modified several times through its lifetime. It has become a tradition that during the Christmas period a 24.5-metre (80 ft) tall Christmas tree is erected in the northern part of the square.

Carnegie Mellon University in Australia is the Australian campus of Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III College established in 2006 in the city centre of Adelaide, South Australia. The move by Heinz to establish a campus in Australia was announced in Pittsburgh in 2005 by South Australian Premier Mike Rann, following negotiations with Carnegie Mellon President Jared Cohon.

Chifley Business School is an Australian postgraduate school established in 1989. Chifley is one of the longest-running independent higher education institutions in Australia, and has the country’s largest online learning MBA program. The school is owned by Torrens University Australia and has become a part of Strategic Education, Inc. Postgraduate courses are delivered through the joint institution ‘Chifley Business School at Torrens University Australia’. The school's vocational courses were transferred to APM College of Business and Communication, another Laureate International Universities institution. The school takes its name from Ben Chifley - 16th Prime Minister of Australia.

UCL Australia was an international campus of the University College London, located on Victoria Square in Adelaide, South Australia. It had three parts: the School of Energy and Resources (SERAus), the International Energy Policy Institute (IEPI) and a branch of UCL's Mullard Space Science Laboratory. UCL Australia described its university community as "welcoming, dynamic and influential." The campus closed in December 2017.

City Cross is a two-level shopping complex located on 31-39 Rundle Mall Adelaide South Australia with entrances to Grenfell Street, James Place and Gawler Place. The centre is owned by the Makris Group, who purchased the site in 2001 after it was placed up for sale by the previous owners, Hawaiian Investments, in 2000. The main three anchors are Forever New, Harvey Norman and Rebel Sports. The complex also features smaller retailers and a large food court including KFC, Balfours, Subway, Oporto, Sumo Salad, Charlesworth Nuts, Bean Bar and many other food outlets. Amongst the smaller stores are Watch Doctor and Archer and Holland. Australia Post Adelaide Rundle Mall Post Shop is also located on the first floor.The site was redeveloped at a cost of $6m in 1984, almost doubling the number of shops in the center by expanding on to the former sites of two local buildings – the Mutual Life Chambers and the Widow's Fund building. Among the suggestions for the site prior to the completion of the 1984 redevelopment was the construction of a Grenfell Street underpass, although these plans never eventuated. Another, smaller, redevelopment occurred in 1996 when the centre was under the management of Hawaiian Investments.In April, 2003 a $100m redevelopment of the site was announced, to be completed in three stages. The first stage of the redevelopment, completed at a cost of $25m, was opened by Premier Mike Rann on 22 November 2005, and effectively doubled the retail area of the centre. Shortly before the completion of the first stage, Amart All Sports announced that they would be moving into the new premises, joining Harvey Norman who had previously announced their tenancy in the expanded site. The second stage was to include a 450 car parking station above the site, with a planned third stage to incorporate a 10-storey office tower.

Westpac House (formerly Santos House and State Bank Building) is an office building in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. It is also known by passersby as "Westpac Tower" or as “The Westpac Building”. It is a 31-storey office tower, reaching 132 metres (433 ft) at its roof, with each level approximately four metres (thirteen feet) in height. From 1988 until 2019, it was the tallest building in Adelaide. It is set back from Currie Street near the intersection with King William Street, and is connected to two adjacent office buildings on Currie Street. It has four street frontages, and various pedestrian thoroughfares. The building was originally known as the State Bank building, before the 1991 State Bank Collapse, when it was purchased by Santos and renamed the Santos Building in February 1997. Since 2007, it has been known as Westpac House.
