Deadwater, Hampshire

Lindford is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Bordon, and west of Headley, East Hampshire on the B3004 road. The nearest railway station is Liphook, 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of the village. With a population of around 2,700, Lindford has a village shop, post office, private dental practice, hair dresser, as well as a Methodist church, a village hall, a pub, The Royal Exchange, and a club.

Deadwater Valley is a 35.9-hectare (89-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Bordon in Hampshire. It is owned by East Hampshire District Council and managed by the Deadwater Valley Trust. Part of the site is a Scheduled Monument.This site along the west bank of the River Deadwater has a pond, a meadow, wet and dry heath, alder carr and broadleaved and coniferous woodland. There are Civil War earthworks in the south of the reserve.

Headley Water Mill is a water mill used for the milling of flour and situated near the village of Headley on the outskirts of the village of Lindford in the east of the English county of Hampshire. It is likely that there was a mill on this site in 1086 at the time of the Domesday Book. The west end of the current mill is considered to date from the 16th Century, whilst the central section is older. The mill is powered by the south branch of upper reaches of the River Wey and is the last commercially productive water mill in Hampshire. The mill with its adjoining house is a Grade II listed building.The mill has four pairs of stones, three for grinding flour and one for grinding barley or oats for animal feed. Two pairs of stones can be driven by the breast shot wheel at any one time.

Hollywater is a small village in Hampshire, England. It lies two miles east to its nearest town, Bordon. The village is a crossing point to Whitehill to Liphook, and has the River Wey running through the village. The village itself is situated in the Woolmer Forest and has one Primary School.

Bordon is a town in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It lies in the interior of the royal Woolmer Forest, about 5 miles (8.0 km) southeast of Alton. The town forms a part of the civil parish of Whitehill which is one of two contiguous villages, the other being Lindford. The civil parish is on the A325, and near the A3 road between London and Portsmouth, from which it is buffered by the rise of the wooded Woolmer Ranges. Bordon is twinned with Condé-sur-Vire in Normandy, France. Unlike its nearest towns, Petersfield, Farnham and Alton, Bordon has not been a market town, having developed as a military area. Many of the facilities are near the former A325, a toll road (turnpike) that connected Farnham to the A3 to its south and passed though Bordon and Whitehill; the A325 now by-passes the built-up area. Local facilities include The Phoenix Theatre and Whitehill and Bordon Leisure Centre.

Standford is a village in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 1.3 miles (2.1 km) east of Bordon, on the B3004 road. It is in the civil parish of Headley.The nearest railway station is Liphook, 2.8 miles (4.5 km) southeast of the village.

Pinewood or Pinewood Village is an area in Bordon, in the English county of Hampshire. Located in the north of the town, administratively it is in the parish of Whitehill, and the Whitehill Pinewood ward of East Hampshire district. Development of the area started in 1987 on the site of former married quarters at Bordon Camp that from 1970 had been leased for use as council housing and later purchased by the district council. The nearest railway station is Liphook, 4.4 miles (6.5 km) southeast of the village.

The Bordon Light Railway was a short-lived light railway line in Hampshire that connected the Army Camp at Bordon, as well as the villages of Bordon and Kingsley, with the national rail network at Bentley on the main Farnham-Alton line, a distance of 4.5 miles (7.2 km).

Whitehill is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England, on the historic highway (now the A325) between Petersfield and Farnham. It is 0.7 miles (1.1 km) south of Bordon and covers an area of approximately 8 square miles. The nearest railway station is Liss, 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the village. Broxhead and Kingsley Commons is a 105.1-hectare (260-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Lindford in Hampshire. It is part of Wealden Heaths Phase II Special Protection Area for the Conservation of Wild Birds and Broxhead Common is a 41.8-hectare (103-acre) Local Nature Reserve owned and managed by Hampshire County Council.These commons have areas of heath, acid grassland, woodland and scrub. The site is one of the most important in southern Britain for lichens, with more than 25 terricolous species, and there are also three protected birds, 25 rare bees, wasps and ants, and the nationally rare sand lizard.

Sleaford in Hampshire, England is a hamlet of Headley Civil Parish and the Northanger Ecclesiastical Benefice. It is in the civil parish of Whitehill It lies on the A325 and B3004 roads where they cross the small River Slea, a tributary of the Wey. Since the road junction has been re-aligned, there are now three bridges across the river. Sleaford is at the edge of Broxhead Common, a part of the belt of heathland on the Surrey-Hampshire border from Berkshire to West Sussex, which the British Army found attractive for training. There are numerous military colleges, camps and training grounds in the region which extends in a zone southwards from Windsor, through Camberley, Frimley and Aldershot to Bordon (near Sleaford), Woolmer and Longmoor Military Camp (grid reference SU795310). The last two were set up to train engineers to run railways, a very important skill in the Great War period.

Bordon Camp was a British Army camp close to the settlement of Bordon in Hampshire, England. The camp, which was latterly maintained by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, opened in 1863 and closed in 2015.
