Hardin Valley Academy

Pellissippi State Community College (Pellissippi State or PSTCC) is a public community college based in Knox and Blount counties in Tennessee. It is operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The college's main campus is located in west Knox County. There are four satellite campuses in the surrounding area. Pellissippi State was named Pellissippi State Technical Community College until July 1, 2009. It is the successor to the former State Technical Institute at Knoxville ("STIK"), founded in 1974.

The National Transportation Research Center (NTRC) is an institution, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, that conducts research and development aimed at increasing the efficiency and safety of transportation systems and reducing their energy utilization and effects on the environment. It is operated as a partnership between the United States Department of Energy, the University of Tennessee, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and is located approximately halfway between the university campus and the ORNL site in Oak Ridge. About two-thirds of the 83,000 sq ft (7,700 m2) NTRC building contains research laboratories.

Hardin Valley is a suburban unincorporated community in west Knox County, Tennessee, United States. It is about 15.5 miles (24.9 km) west of downtown Knoxville.

Turkey Creek is a shopping complex and mixed-use commercial development located in western Knox County, Tennessee, in the cities of Knoxville and Farragut.

Solway is an unincorporated community in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The United States Geographic Names System classifies Solway as a populated place. The area is located between Oak Ridge and Knoxville, just southeast of the Clinch River (Melton Hill Lake), which forms the Anderson County line. It lies on Oak Ridge Highway, also known as Tennessee State Route 62, just north of its intersection with Pellissippi Parkway. Beaver Creek flows through the area. In 1999, Solway was proposed by Knox County and Oak Ridge planning officials to be included in a 1,000 acre area inside of Oak Ridge's urban growth boundary, which would have allowed the community to be annexed into the municipal limits of the city of Oak Ridge. However, this was voted down shortly after its proposal.

Farragut High School, located at 11237 Kingston Pike, serves as a high school in Farragut, a suburb of Knoxville, Tennessee. Knox County Schools, the unified Knox County, Tennessee school district, operates the school. The school serves the majority of Farragut, portions south of Interstate 75.The original Farragut High School, built in 1904, occupied a strip of land adjacent to Kingston Pike, becoming the first consolidated high school in Knox County. In 1976, the school relocated to its current location on a hill overlooking Farragut on the opposite side of Kingston Pike. A supermarket and strip mall dominate the original site, razed after the construction of the new buildings. The school bears the name of Civil War hero David Glasgow Farragut, the Union admiral born in the area.

The Battle of Campbell's Station (November 16, 1863) saw Confederate forces under Lieutenant General James Longstreet attack Union troops led by Major General Ambrose Burnside at Campbell's Station (now Farragut), Knox County, Tennessee, during the Knoxville Campaign of the American Civil War. Longstreet hoped to crush the Union Army of the Ohio forces before they could retreat to Knoxville. During the fighting, the Confederates forced the Union troops to fall back from five separate positions. However, the final result was that Burnside's troops conducted a successful fighting withdrawal. Longstreet's two infantry divisions, supported by 5,000 cavalry, were detached from General Braxton Bragg's army with the goal of defeating Burnside's forces and recapturing Knoxville. The only reasonable way to accomplish this was to overwhelm the Union troops before they could take refuge behind the defenses of Knoxville. The failure to trap Burnside at Campbell's Station meant that Longstreet was compelled to besiege Union forces within Knoxville. Ultimately, the Siege of Knoxville failed when major Union forces were sent to relieve Burnside and Longstreet was forced to retreat northeast toward Virginia.

The Avery Russell House, also called the Martin-Russell House or the Campbell Station Inn, is a historic home located at 11409 Kingston Pike in Farragut, Tennessee, United States. The Federal-style two story brick structure was built by Samuel Martin as an inn around 1835, on the site of David Campbell's 1787 blockhouse. Just before the Civil War, the inn was sold to Avery Russell, who then used it as a family residence. It remained in the Russell family for six generations. During the Battle of Campbell's Station in 1863, the house served as a temporary hospital. Although it has had several alterations, the house remains an example of rural East Tennessee architecture. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Karns High School is a public high school in the Karns community of Knox County, Tennessee administered by the Knox County Schools public school district. A growing population in western Knox County established in 1913; prior to this time, students were assigned to Central High School, located several miles away in nearby Knoxville. As of the 2008 academic year there were 2,578 enrolled students. Still to date that is the largest number of students enrolled at Karns High School since it was established in 1913. In 1913, the first Karns High School was erected. This building was named after Professor T.C. Karns, the first Superintendent of Public Instruction in Knox County. The high school had an enrollment of 75 students while the elementary school had 160 students. In 1938, a new Karns High School was built at the cost of $74,000. Its location was in the back of the parking lot where the current Karns Intermediate School is. The location chosen had previously been a Dutch cemetery but the bodies were exhumed to Cobb’s barn. In the cornerstone of the new high school, the student body roll of 1938, newspapers, and other information of interest were buried for future generations to look at. Things went well at this location until March 10, 1978 when the building became victim of arson. Due to the quick action of the volunteer fireman, the only losses were the study hall and the temporary loss of two classrooms. Then on March 15, 1978, 5 days after the first fire, Karns became a fiery blaze in the night. At 9:06 p.m., firemen were summoned but weren’t as lucky this time. This fire caused the loss of six classrooms, the study hall once again, the auditorium, cafeteria and many books and personal belongings in the lockers on the second and third floors.

Farragut is a suburban town located in Knox and Loudon counties in the State of Tennessee, United States. The town's population was 23,506 at the 2020 census. It is included in the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. The town is named in honor of Union Admiral David Farragut, who was born just east of Farragut at Campbell's Station in 1801, and fought in the American Civil War.
