Kowloon Restaurant is a pan-Asian restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts. The restaurant serves a range of Cantonese, Szechuan, Japanese, Polynesian, and Thai dishes in several themed dining rooms and lounges. Kowloon was called one of the best Chinese restaurants in New England by Boston television station WHDH in 2004.Visiting the restaurant is a tradition for many New England families on birthdays and anniversaries. It is also considered a top destination for fans of tiki culture and has been a stop on organized tours. The restaurant has been owned through three generations of the same family.

Square One Mall is a shopping mall located along US Route 1 (Broadway) between Main Street and Essex Street in Saugus, Massachusetts. Anchor stores are Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy and TJ Maxx. Additional stores in the mall include Old Navy, Forever 21, Famous Footwear, EbLens, and Bath & Body Works. The mall was a $100 million project undertaken by New England Development Corporation to redevelop the former New England Shopping Center which consisted of Sears, Service Merchandise and the former General Cinemas which had closed in the mid-1980s. The construction of the mall was unique since it incorporated the previously built structure of Sears, signs of this being the difference in building materials between Sears and the rest of the mall. The mall opened for business on August 17, 1994.The mall is credited with bringing sprawl and strip development to Saugus, especially along the Route 1 corridor. Route 1 through the area is a 6 lane highway (3 lanes in each direction) with a speed limit of 50 mph (80 km/h). Filene's Basement, one of the malls former anchors, filed for bankruptcy protection on May 4, 2009. New York’s Crown Acquisitions, made a bid to buy Filene's Basement including their famous Downtown Crossing location which closed in 2007. All Filene's Basement stores closed in December 2011. TJ Maxx was originally in a space built for Lechmere, but has since moved to a space formerly occupied by Filene's Basement. In 2015, Sears Holdings spun off 235 of its properties, including the Sears at Square One Mall, into Seritage Growth Properties. Sears downsized its store to the lower level in 2017. The upper level of Sears is now vacant. On June 30, 2020, it was announced that Sears would be closing as part of a plan to close 28 stores nationwide. The store closed on September 13, 2020.

The murder of George E. Bailey occurred on October 8, 1900, at Breakheart Hill Farm in Saugus, Massachusetts. Bailey's employee, John C. Best, was subsequently convicted of the murder and executed.

Breakheart Reservation is a public recreation area covering 652 acres (264 ha) in the towns of Saugus and Wakefield, Massachusetts. The reservation features a hardwood forest, two freshwater lakes, a winding stretch of the Saugus River, and scenic views of Boston and rural New England from rocky hilltops. The park is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The Phineas Upham House is a historic house at 255 Upham Street in Melrose, Massachusetts. Built in the early 18th century, it is a well preserved example of First Period architecture. Owned by a family association, it is only occasionally open to the public. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Mount Hood is an 18 hole golf club and park located in Melrose, Massachusetts. It was built in the 1930s on donated land as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration and once consisted of a ski area. Today, Mount Hood serves as a golf course and park, while sledding is popular in the winter.

Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School also known as Northeast Metro Tech or The Voke is a regional vocational school located in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1968 and draws students from the cities and towns of Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, Woburn and Saugus. The number of students each city or town sends is dependent on its population and the amount of money it contributes to the budget of the school. The City of Malden is the largest contributor of students, Chelsea is the second largest contributor, and Woburn is the third. Also, students from Everett, Lynn, Lynnfield and Medford, which border the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District, may attend the school if they apply and are approved. The football team won back-to-back Division 4A State Championships in 2009 and 2010.

Prankers Pond (also Lily Pond or Pranker Pond) is one of the largest lakes in Saugus, Massachusetts, United States. It is the center of a recreational area that also includes hiking and picnicking areas. The pond lies east of U.S. Route 1 and southwest of Birch Pond. Named for Edward Pranker, the owner of the Pranker Mills at the pond, it lies at 42.4745403°N 71.0125512°W / 42.4745403; -71.0125512, at an elevation of 26 feet (8 m).

It is also among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for stroke care and the top 15% in the nation for heart attack treatment.Following a failed merger attempt with Boston-based Partners Healthcare, MelroseWakefield's parent company Hallmark Health announced in June 2016 that it was seeking approval to merge with Wellforce, the operator of Tufts Medical Center in Boston and Lowell General Hospital in Lowell. As a result of the merger, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital was renamed to remove the hyphen in its name and its former parent company Hallmark Health was renamed MelroseWakefield Healthcare, a member of Wellforce.
