Agnew Hunter Bahnson House

H. D. Poindexter Houses are a set of historic homes located at Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. A large house was built between 1892 and 1894, and is a two-story, frame dwelling in the Queen Anne style. It features verandahs, balconies, ornamental shingles, and large medieval-like chimneys. Associated with the large house is a small Victorian cottage built around 1874. Both dwellings were built by Henry Dalton Poindexter, a prominent merchant. They were moved to their present location in December 1977.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the West End Historic District.

The district encompasses 115 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in a predominantly residential section of Winston-Salem. The buildings date between about 1885 and 1952, and include single family dwellings and apartment building. The include examples of late-19th and early-20th popular architectural styles including the Queen Anne and Italianate style. Notable buildings include the Henry Case House (c. 1885), James Jessup House (c. 1889), Henry Foltz bam (1906), Calvary Moravian Church (1923), T. R. Brann's store (c. 1921), and Green Front Grocery (c. 1937).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The buildings date from about 1925 to 1951, and include notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, with a boundary decrease in 2014.

The National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) was founded in 1989 by Larry Leon Hamlin in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Serving as its executive director, Hamlin’s goal in creating the Festival was "to unite black theatre companies in America to ensure the survival of the genre into the next millennium." Held biennially since 1989 for six days, the NBTF showcases the best in African-American theater.

Spruce Street YMCA is a historic YMCA building located at Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was built in 1927, and is a four-story, brick and limestone building in the Classical Revival style. The front facade features pilasters with Corinthian order capitals and two entrances with arched openings. The building house a YMCA until 1976.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Roger L. Stevens Center is the primary performance venue in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina and is owned and operated by the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. It is named after the theatre producer and real estate magnate Roger L. Stevens and was opened on April 22, 1983. The venue serves the major UNCSA productions, the Winston-Salem Symphony, Piedmont Opera, and many other touring and local productions. All in all the theatre is used for rehearsal or performance all but 70 days of the year.

Shamrock Mills, also known as Hanes Hosiery Mill #1, is a historic textile mill building located at Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was built in 1911, and is a one-story brick building with daylight basement. It is six bays deep and extends in seven sections with a rhythmic saw-tooth roof and six-foot skylights. An addition was built in 1925. It was the first building used by the Hanes Hosiery Company. The mill closed in 1926, and the building subsequently housed a Cadillac dealership. The building houses the Sawtooth School for Visual Art. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The township had a population of 229,617, according to the 2010 census.Geographically, Winston Township occupies 133.69 square miles (346.3 km2) in central Forsyth County. Winston Township is coextensive with the city of Winston-Salem and subsequently, township boundaries expand with every annexation by the city. Consequently, much of the townships of Old Town, Broadbay, South Fork, Middle Fork and smaller portions of others have been consumed by Winston in recent years.

West End Historic District is a national historic district located at Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 508 contributing buildings and 7 contributing structures, in a predominantly residential section of Winston-Salem. It was a planned picturesque streetcar suburb developed at the turn of the 20th century. The buildings date from about 1887 to 1930, and include notable examples of Classical Revival, Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed H. D. Poindexter Houses and Zevely House. Other notable buildings include the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1928-1929) designed by Ralph Adams Cram, Augsburg Lutheran Church (1926), Friends Meeting House (1927), the First Church of Christ, Scientist (1924), and Joyner's West End Grocery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Sosnik-Morris-Early Commercial Block, also known as Thalhimer's, are two historic commercial buildings located at Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. They were built in 1929, and known as the Morris-Early furniture store building and the Sosnik's clothing store. Both buildings include elements from the popular Art Deco style. The Morris-Early building is a four-story, brick building with terra cotta ornament and cable molding. The Sosnik's building is a three-story, nine bay by ten bay, limestone faced building. The Sosnik's building was extensively renovated in 1949 by Raymond Loewy Associates, when Sosnik's and Thalhimers merged. In 1958, Thalhimer's acquired the Morris-Early store for further expansion.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Nissen Building is a 283 ft (86 m) 18-story skyscraper in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, built in 1927. It was the largest building in the city, succeeding the Hotel Robert E. Lee, and the tallest building in North Carolina from 1927 to 1929, when it was succeeded by the Reynolds Building; all three buildings were in Winston-Salem. The Nissen Building was named to the National Register of Historic Places March 17, 1983, with a boundary increase in 2004 to include a one-story addition built in 1969. With the spire on top, its height is 102.1m.It has a steel frame, with buff brick and pre-cast concrete for the exterior, along with details in granite, marble and limestone.
