Choryang station

Busan station (Korean: 부산역) is a train station in Busan, South Korea. It is the southern terminus of the Gyeongbu Line & the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, the most important railway lines in the country, which links Busan with Seoul in around two and a half hours on KTX, Korea's high-speed rail train. There are also cheaper, slower rail alternatives to seoul, including the "Mugungwha" Train, which takes over four hours. Essentially all trains to Seoul stop in a few settlements between the two cities. It is also an underground station on Busan Metro Line 1 between Jungang and Choryang stations. The station is centrally located in the Choryang-dong (neighbourhood) of Dong-gu (ward) in Busan. Construction of the new KTX Busan terminal began in 2001 and was completed in 2003. The new station covers 24,646 square meters (265,290 square feet) and it is equipped with up-to-date automatic ticket vending machines, 11 elevators, 10 escalators, PC area, waiting and vending areas. Western shop franchises in the station include a Tom&Tom's, a "Subway" sandwich shop, and a Weeny beenys. The entire convex curved front of the structure is glass covered construction and the station is considered an architecturally significant building.The main entrance opens up to a large park-like area surrounding the front of the station to the west.

Texas Street (Korean: 텍사스거리) or Texas Town (텍사스촌) is a red-light district and ethnic enclave in Dong District, Busan, South Korea. The area is just outside Busan station, and right next to the Busan Chinatown area.The area once was a scenic beach area that catered towards Chinese ambassadors and merchants. Around this time, it was called Cheonggwan Street. Beginning around 1945, it became a red light district that provided a variety of services, although namely drinking and prostitution, to American soldiers in the area. The area has since shifted locations and decreased in size somewhat, especially after the 1953 Busan Station Fire. The area's character has changed since the late 1980s. Fewer American troops were stationed nearby (U.S. Navy and Marines were prohibited from entering circa 2018), and more Russian sailors arrived. The area began to cater less towards entertainment, and more towards normal businesses. Hundreds of Russians and Koryo-saram (ethnic Koreans of the former Soviet Union) began moving into the area, making it an ethnic enclave. However, the area has still retained some of its red-light district nature, despite government efforts.

Overseas Chinese High School, Busan (Chinese: 釜山華僑中學; Korean: 부산화교중고등학교) is a Republic of China (Taiwan)-oriented Chinese international school in Dong-gu, Busan. It serves junior high school and senior high school students, and was established on 1 September 1951.

Busanjin Station (Korean: 부산진역; Hanja: 釜山鎭驛) is a station of the Busan Metro Line 1 in Sujeong-dong, Dong District, Busan, South Korea. The station is unrelated to the Busanjin Station of Korail.

The 168 stairs (Korean: 168계단) are an outdoor stairway in Choryang-dong, Dong District, Busan, South Korea. The stairway has 168 steps and a steep incline of around 35 to 40 degrees, with various souvenir shops on the path. The stairway has a monorail that goes from bottom to top that was installed in 2016. In May 2023, it was announced that they would replace the monorail with an inclined elevator that uses two rails. In March 2024, it was announced that an outdoor terraced movie theater would be installed along the stairway. During the 1950–1953 Korean War, numerous refugees settled around the stairway.

Dong District (literally east district) is a gu in central Busan, South Korea. It was one of the first 6 gu of Busan established in 1957. Busan Station is located in Dong-gu. Dong-gu has a status of sister localities with Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju and Zhifu District in Yantai City, China.

Busanjin Station (Korean: 부산진역; Hanja: 釜山鎮驛) is a railway station in Dong-gu, Busan, southeast South Korea. It is the terminus of the Donghae Line to Pohang, and a stop on the Gyeongbu Line to Seoul. Passenger service was eliminated in 2005, leaving cargo service only.

Jwacheon Station (Korean: 좌천역; Hanja: 佐川驛) is a station of Busan Metro Line 1 in Jwacheon-dong, Dong District, Busan, South Korea. The station is unrelated to the Jwacheon Station of Korail.

Democracy Park (Korean: 민주공원) is a historic park located in Central Park, Jung District, Busan, South Korea. It was established on October 16, 1999, to commemorate the sacrifices of April Revolution, Busan–Masan Democracy Movement and June Democracy Movement.

The 40-step stairway (Korean: 40계단; lit. 40 stairway) is a historic stairway in the Jung District of Busan, South Korea. It sits at one end of the 40-step Culture & Tourism Theme Street, which is a tourist attraction intended to recall the history of the area and in particular its importance to refugees during and after the Korean War. The staircase itself was known as a common location for refugees to seek reunification with their families and friends, given the lack of functional communications during the War. The 40–step stairway appears in the film Nowhere to Hide.

Jung District (literally central district) is a gu in southern central Busan, South Korea. It has an area of 2.8 km², and a population of about 48,000.
