Vilsegg Castle

Vils is a town in the district of Reutte in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It has a long, rich history of ten or more generations of excellent luthiers. Most prominent among those of the Rief (or Ruef) family is Dominicus Rief. Examples of his work are in the museum there.

Alatsee is a meromictic lake in Ostallgäu, Bavaria, Germany. At an elevation of 868.0 m, its surface area is 12.00 ha. This lake supposedly holds "Hitler's gold". Many divers have died or disappeared mysteriously in this lake due to the toxicity of the organisms living in this lake. These organisms create the "blood cloud " that occurs quite abundantly throughout the year.

Weißensee (Füssen) is a lake in Allgäu, Bavaria, Germany. At an elevation of 787.3 m, its surface area is 134.65 ha.

The Vils is a 36-kilometre-long (22 mi) river, a left tributary of the Lech in the Alps of Austria and Germany. The Vils has a drainage basin of approximately 200 km2 (77 sq mi), with an average annual precipitation of nearly 2,000 mm (80 in). It originates in the Allgäu Alps in Tyrol from the supplies of the Vilsalpsee, and is its only discharge. Its water flows first in the northern and northwestern directions, in the Reutte district through the Vils Valley and the Tannheim Valley. In the latter valley it runs alongside the B 199 road through Tannheim, Zoeblen and Schattwald. From here the Vils descends down the waterfall Vilsfall, only slightly east/northeast of the Oberjoch Pass and only a few hundred metres east of the border to Germany. Then the river crosses the border into southern Bavaria, turns northeast and reaches the municipality Pfronten in the district Ostallgäu. Then it flows eastwards along the B 308, again crossing the border into Tyrol, flows below the Tannheim Mountains slightly south of the German border and parallel to this through the municipality Vils. After crossing the B 179 underneath it flows directly into the Lech. With an average discharge of 76.8 cubic metres per second (2,710 cu ft/s), the Vils is among the largest rivers in Bavaria.

Pinswang is a municipality in the Austrian Ausserfern region of the northern Tyrol. It lies on the border with the Allgäu region of Bavaria in Germany.

Eisenberg is a municipality in the district of Ostallgäu in Bavaria in Germany.

Musau is a municipality in the district of Reutte in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The Gimpel is a peak in the Tannheim Mountains, a sub-range of the Allgäu Alps. It is 2,173 m high. The name is derived from the Gimpelalpe alp in der "hollow" (Mulde) (Celtic comba = English "coombe"). The Gimpel is made of Wetterstein limestone.

The Tannheim Mountains (German: Tannheimer Berge) are a sub-group of the Allgäu Alps in the Bavarian-Tyrolean border region. Their name is derived from the village of Tannheim in the Tannheim Valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The highest peaks in the Tannheim Mountains are the Kellenspitze (2,238 m) and Gimpel (2,176 m); both can easily be ascended from Nesselwängle in the Tannheim valley. Other summits include the Gehrenspitze (2,163 m), Rote Flüh (2,111 m), the Schartschrofen (1,968 m), the Schneidspitze (2,009 m) and the Kelleschrofen (2,091 m), from which rises the Babylonian Tower (Babylonischer Turm). To the north of Tannheim rises the Einstein, a striking, isolated summit. Bases for tours in the Tannheim Mountains are the Gimpelhaus (private), the Tannheim Hut (DAV), the Otto Mayr Hut (DAV) and the Füssen Hut (private). The base for the local mountain rescue services is the operations room in the multi-purpose centre in Nesselwängle and the Gimpelalm.

The Schartschrofen is a rocky summit, 1,968 m high, in the Tannheim Mountains, a sub-group of the Allgäu Alps. It lies northwest of the Rote Flüh and south of the col of Füssener Jöchl.

The Babylonische Turm (literally: "Babylonian Tower") is a 2,060-metre-high rock needle on the eastern arête of the Kellenspitze (2,238 m), the highest summit in the Tannheim Mountains in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Seen from the south the pinnacle looks like an independent peak. It is important to Alpine climbers because it has numerous climbing routes.

For the "Rote Flüh" feature on the North Face of the Eiger, see Eiger. The Rote Flüh is a peak in the Tannheim Mountains, a sub-range of the Allgäu Alps. It is 2,108 metres high. The Rote Flüh is built from Wetterstein limestone. It gets its name (which means "red rock face") from the layers of embedded particles of red limestone rock that appear reddish as the sun goes down.
