Underground Chattanooga

The Tivoli Theatre, also known as the Tivoli and the "Jewel of the South", is a historic theatre in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that opened on March 19, 1921. Built between 1919 and 1921 at a cost of $750,000, designed by famed Chicago-based architectural firm Rapp and Rapp and well-known Chattanooga architect Reuben H. Hunt, and constructed by the John Parks Company (general contractors), the theatre was one of the first air-conditioned public buildings in the United States. The theatre was named Tivoli after Tivoli, Italy, has cream tiles and beige terra-cotta bricks, has a large red, black, and white marquee with 1,000 chaser lights, and has a large black neon sign that displays TIVOLI with still more chaser lights.

Truist Tower (formerly known as the SunTrust Bank Building and as the American National Bank Building) is a 251 ft (77 m) tall modern office building located on 736 Market Street in Downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. The building has 20 floors and was built in 1968. Upon its completion, it surpassed the Hamilton National Bank Building (now known as the First Horizon Bank Building) as the tallest building in Chattanooga, which held the title since 1911. The building would stay the tallest building in Chattanooga until 1977, when the 268 ft (82 m) tall, Republic Centre was built. As of August 2026, the building is the 2nd-tallest building in Chattanooga. The building was designed by Alfred Easton Poor, who also designed the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building in New York City, Home Insurance Plaza in New York City, and the James Madison Memorial Building in Washington D.C..

The Hamilton County Courthouse in Chattanooga, Tennessee, designed by architect R.H. Hunt, was constructed in 1912. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.It is three stories upon a basement.A statue of Confederate general Alexander P. Stewart was unveiled on the courthouse grounds on April 22, 1919 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Second Presbyterian Church is a historic church at 700 Pine Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee, affiliated with Presbyterian Church USA. The Gothic Revival building, designed by Reuben Harrison Hunt, was built in 1890. It is the oldest building designed by Hunt that is still extant in Chattanooga. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.Since 1984, the undercroft of the church's main building has been used for a homeless shelter, operated as a cooperative project of Second Presbyterian Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. St. Matthew's Men's Night Shelter started as a winter-only emergency shelter for homeless men. It now operates year-round to provide overnight housing for men who are participating in a rehabilitative program, such as the program of the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

The Chattanooga Car Barns is a three-building complex located at 301 Market St. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was built in 1887 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.The three buildings include "offices facing Third Street, a fifteen-track car barn, and a bus fueling and storage facility. The offices and car barn were designed by R.H. Hunt, Architects."

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a downtown congregation of the Episcopal Church. It is one of the largest congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee.

The Creative Discovery Museum is a children's museum located in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, it was opened on May 26, 1995. The museum contains art, music, and field science areas, along with a water-themed zone called RiverPlay, a rooftop exhibit, an inventor's workshop, and a temporary exhibit space. Exhibits are mostly designed for children aged 18 months to 12 years.

McKenzie College was a college in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Founded in the 1885 as Agey, Leavitt and Leavitt Business School. The school was sold to J.A. and E.L. Wiley in 1890 and was renamed Wiley's Mountain City Business College. Roy E. and H. Frank McKenzie purchased the institution in 1923 and it was renamed McKenzie College in 1930. The institution closed in 1992.

The Read House Hotel is a historic hotel in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The current building dates from 1926, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for Hamilton County.

Wiley Memorial United Methodist Church, now known as Bethlehem Wiley United Methodist Church, is a historic church at 504 Lookout Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee, affiliated with the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. The church's site was an important community center in the early years of Ross's Landing, before it came to be called Chattanooga. During the American Civil War, an earlier church building on the site was used as a military hospital and prison by the Confederate Army and later as a Union Army military prison. The building incurred major damage during the 1863 Battle of Chattanooga. In 1867 it was purchased for use by the first African Methodist Episcopal congregation in East Tennessee.The church's current brick building, completed in 1886–1887, replaced a building that was destroyed by arson. It was rebuilt though the cooperative efforts of the congregation's members.The city declared the building unsafe for occupancy in 1978. Money was raised to restore the historic building. Following restoration, which included installation of a new roof, sandblasting the exterior, and uncovering some of the interior woodwork, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. After the 1979 National Register listing, city officials allowed the congregation to resume its use of the church for worship.

First Baptist Church Education Building is a historic building at 317 Oak Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was built in 1928 to serve the congregation of the adjacent First Baptist Church, which had been built in 1886. Both buildings were designed by prominent local architect Reuben Harrison Hunt. Hunt was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the church building was his first major architectural project in Chattanooga. His design for the education building was intended to harmonize with the Romanesque design elements in the church, which was destroyed some time between 1928 and 1980.The First Baptist Church Education Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Old Library Building at 200 E. 8th St. in Chattanooga, Tennessee is a Carnegie library building which was built in 1904. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.It was designed by architect Reuben Harrison Hunt in Classical Revival style. It was the first building specifically designed as a library in Chattanooga, although there has been a library in the city since 1867. It was built with a $50,000 Carnegie grant.It was part of the Chattanooga Public Library system.
